I like them both. Maybe A Desperate Venture could cost 2 with toil 2. Just minor stuff.
Old Burning Grudge is just fine, but if you want to throw in some mechanic not fully used yet, you could have it remove the cards from the discard pile instead. Then the cost could drop somewhat. |

Event • Skirmish
Toil 1.
Make a Dwarf skirmishing a unique minion strength +1 (limit +5) for each tale you can spot.
“...they all began discussing dragon-slayings historical, dubious, and mythical, and the various sorts of stabs and jabs and undercuts, and the different arts, devices and stratagems by which they had been accomplished.”
How many unique minions are there in this set? I feel like it’s a bit too limited, as you end up depending on the shadow player using certain cards to make your cards work.
Getting the feeling I’m a fan of these "choose between or an exertion" events?
I, as you may also have gathered, am not a fan of these "choose between or an exertion" events, I would always choose the twilight (unless i knew the opponent had a red wrath or whirling strike in their hand and were short to play it).
Old Burning Grudge
Event • Maneuver
Toil 1.
Until the regroup phase, make a Dwarf (except the Ring-bearer) resistance +1 (limit +4) or strength +1 (limit +4) for each card over 4 you can spot in the discard and dead piles.
“The embers in the heart of Thorin grew hot again, as he brooded on the wrongs of his House and of the vengeance upon the Dragon that was bequeathed to him. He thought of weapons and armies and alliances, as his great hammer rang in the forge....”
It’s a bit complicated, but nevertheless a solid card. Wouldn’t mind seeing it simplified, and I agree somewhat with WeyounsLastClone. But it still works, so I’m not that bothered either way.
Cool stuff.

Dáin’s DC Duos #213
We’re really winding down with the culture now. Right now I only have three more cards made, including the ones below. So we could be looking at only one more Duo after this...or perhaps 3 or 4 if I get a sudden creative streak. We shall see. Either way, it’s coming to an end soon.
But as for THESE, it’s a couple more useful tales. Enjoy!
•Farewell, King Under the Mountain!
Condition • Support Area
Tale.
Each time a Dwarf is placed in the dead or discard pile, you may remove a burden.
Regroup: Discard this condition and place a unique Dwarf companion with X vitality in the dead pile to remove X burdens and heal the Ring-bearer (twice if the Ring-bearer is a Hobbit).

Each time you play another tale or artifact, add a token here.
Maneuver: Remove 3 tokens from here to heal a Dwarf (or remove 2 tokens to heal Thorin, Balin, or Dáin Ironfoot).

Dwarf burden removal - don’t see that very often. Good, solid and balanced.

I think ’another’ is superfluous, but I understand why you put it in. Like it a lot!

Cool, burden removal for the Dwarves! Nice way to implement it. The placing in the discard pile might be a bit powerful though, you could exclude the regroup phase there, perhaps.

Decent, effective, and cool card. I have the feeling the cost could be 1 or 2, though. |

Cool, it’s balanced. Would be abused in expanded with Endurance of Dwarves to remove massive amounts of burdens.

Change the maneuver action to say: "Remove 3 tokens from here..." Great card! |
