Bearer must be a Moria Orc.
Skirmish: Exert bearer and discard this possession to wound a companion bearer is skirmishing.
Response: If bearer is about to take a wound, discard this possession to prevent that wound.
The shields were made of metal and were relatively large...their ridged surface curved around the arm and ended in spikes that could be used for stabbing.

Really nice. A good card for Goblins, especially archers, with that first ability.

Bearer must be a Moria Orc.
While you can spot The Balrog, bearer is vitality +1.
If The Balrog is discarded or killed, discard this possession.
The jagged Orc armor resembled the flaming form of Durin’s Bane.

Very interesting... Vitality on Moria minions never hurts.

Shields were never exclusively for defence - they’re almost as much a weapon as a sword or an axe. Soldiers would use them to smash people and to add momentum to a charge, and most shields wouldn’t last long in battle anyway - a couple of sword hits and the wood would come apart. Therefore, I say great card!

However, I don’t see why the second card should work with the Balrog in the way that it does. Where does the lore text come from? I just don’t see the connection between some goblin’s armour and Durin’s Bane.

I think I got it from The Lord of the Rings: Weapons and Warfare, but it’s true if you look at ’em.

If you really look at their armor, it certainly seems inspired by the Balrog’s flaming form. It’s a major assumption, for sure, but if the writers of The Lord of the Rings: Weapons and Warfare are ready to make that leap, then so am I! Very Happy

I wanted to do a little more goblin stuff before getting to this next guy, but I’ve been bursting at the seems to reveal him for a couple days now, and simply can’t wait any longer. No, it’s not Ol’ Balgy, but it’s close. Twisted Evil Enjoy!

10Cave Troll of Moria, Fearsome Beast Moria
Minion • Troll
Strength: 13
Vitality: 4

Fierce. To play, spot a Moria minion.
While at an underground site, Cave Troll of Moria is damage +1.
Cave Troll of Moria is strength +1 for each wound on each character in his skirmish.
“A huge arm and shoulder, with a dark skin of greenish scales, was thrust through the widening gap. Then a great, flat, toeless foot was forced through below.”

And just for a bonus:

3Troll’s Keyward, The Beast’s Warden Moria
Minion • Orc
Strength: 8
Vitality: 3
Site: 4
Lurker.
Maneuver: Exert Troll’s Keyward twice to play a Moria Troll from your draw deck; its twilight cost is -2.
Skirmish: Exert Troll’s Keyward to make a Moria Troll fierce until the regroup phase or strength +2.
His sole purpose was to keep the trolls the goblins had dragged into the Black Pit from turning on their masters...and unleashing their savagery on any poor souls who wandered into their realm.

The Cave Troll was drawn by the ring? Sceptical.
Hmm he’s ok, pretty solid but odd for getting harder off burdens, i see it ties in with the name nicely, but i need proof to satisfy he had nazgul ring attracted powers!

Id add after to play a moria troll, its twilight cost is -2. Sound though.

I would raise his cost to 10. Smile

It’s speculation, sure, but it IS interesting how the Cave Troll singled out Frodo, isn’t it? That’s my inspiration for the idea.

Keyward is fantastic, but I’m also skeptical about the cave troll. He singled out Frodo because Frodo’s the main character and he had to be in danger for dramatic purposes! You’ll notice how he always gets in trouble for the same reason, like at buckleberry ferry and the prancing pony! Very Happy

But...but....

*grumble, mumble*

Okay, what if it was threats instead? (And I tweaked the subtitle...any suggestions?)

Or one more suggestion...what if it was like the old-school berserkers and he got better with wounds on companions in his skirmish?
