Each time this minion loses a skirmish, you may heal it.
“‘Now we see you, you nasty little creature! We will eat you and leave your bones and skin hanging on a tree.’”
Id make him fierce then he’d be more useful.

As simple as they come. When exhausted, this little guy has 8 strength, which isn’t bad at all for a -cost minion, eh?
Actually, he is a 10 strength when exhausted. |
I had to put something here. |

I’m worried that might make him a little too good. You’ve already got a -cost minion with a potential 13 strength and built-in healing. I think fierceness would necessitate raising his cost, and I’m loathe to do that. |

Dáin’s DC Duos #186
I’ve saved two of the most evil Spider cards until now. These maneuver events are key cards in any good Spider deck, and you’ll quickly see why. Enjoy!
Swarming
Event • Maneuver
Spot X Spiders (minimum 2) to play a Spider from your draw deck. That Spider’s twilight cost is -X.
“For he saw spiders swarming up all the neighbouring trees, and crawling along the boughs above....”
Need I say more? The ultimate swarm card.
Pretty Hopeless
Event • Maneuver
Spot X Spiders to add X threats (limit 4).
“...hundreds of angry spiders were goggling at them all round and about and above.”
Spiders use threats quite a bit, but so do other minions. This pairs particularly well with Duo #182’s Drawing Ever Closer, don’t you think? |

Very good. I might also allow it to use the discard pile, but that’s just me.

Great. Thanks for the reviews, everyone. I SHOULD have awarded everyone who’s reviewed Spider cards a by now, but let me know if I missed you!
Only two more Duos to go. And here’s one of them!
Dáin’s DC Duos #187
Here’s the last Spider minion (the biggest one of all), and the last direct reference to capturing in the culture. Next time we’ll close the Spiders out with a couple brutal conditions, then move on to...whatever’s next!
Enjoy!
•Spider Swarm
Minion • Spider
Strength: 10
Vitality: 7
Site: 7
Enduring. Fierce.
Spider Swarm’s twilight cost is -1 for each unique Spider you can spot.
While you can spot 2 threats, Spider Swarm is damage +1.
While you can spot 4 threats, Spider Swarm may not take wounds except during skirmishes.
“...the whole lot of them came hurrying after the hobbit along the ground and the branches, hairy legs waving, nippers and spinners snapping, eyes popping, full of froth and rage.”
Eat your black heart out, Shelob! The Swarm can pump up just as big as Shelob ever could, and comes with some powerful text, too. It can be a little hard to play since it’s so cost-prohibitive, but thrown in a Swarming event from the last Duo and things can get MUCH easier.
Air Full of Weaving Snares
Event • Response
If a Spider wins a skirmish, discard it and spot X Spiders to capture a companion in that skirmish with a twilight cost of (X) or less.
“As quick as lightning they came running and swinging towards the hobbit, flinging out their long threads in all directions....” |
