The Round 2 contestants have submitted their entries. Their task: design a Shadow follower. Let’s take a look the the entries...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WeyounsLastClone
3 •Crebain, Spies of Saruman Isengard
Follower
Strength: +1
Aid - Discard the top card of your draw deck.
When you transfer this, you may reveal the top card of the Free Peoples player’s draw deck. If it is a Free Peoples card, you may exert your minion (or spot Saruman) to exert a companion.
Large, black crows from Dunland, all the way from the Misty Mountains to as far as Fangorn Forest. Used by Saruman to gather information.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

lem0nhead
2 • Gollum, Slave to the Ring Gollum
Follower
Aid - Remove a threat. (At the start of the maneuver phase you may remove a threat to transfer this to a minion.)
Each companion skirmishing bearer is resistance -2.
Assignment: Exert bearer twice to assign it to the Ring-bearer. The free peoples player may add a burden to prevent that and assign bearer.
"He will never be rid of his need for it. He hates and loves the Ring, as he hates and loves himself."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lost Heir
2 •Grima, Deceitful Snake Isengard
Follower
Aid - Remove a threat.
To play spot a Wizard.
Each time bearer wins a skirmish, you may transfer this to the losing companion.
Each time the fellowship moves, the free peoples player must add 2 burdens or wound bearer twice.
”’Your leechcraft ere long would have had me walking on all fours like a beast.’”

Designer’s notes: I decided to make it so that you would want to transfer it to a companion by winning the skirmish or else the minion could get hurt by the last ability.

2 • Fell Rider Wraith
Follower
Strength +1
Site Number -1
Aid -2
Each time this follower is transferred to a minion, except a Wraith minion remove 2. Each time bearer is assigned to a companion with resistance 4 or less add a burden. Skirmish : Exert bearer and return this follower to your support area to play a mount from your discard pile on your Wraith minion.
To have one of the nine following you meant your death was a certain affair, the only question was how long it would take them to find and kill you.

Editors notes:
This card represents one of the nine just in case you couldn’t figure it out[/b]

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

elf lvr
1 *The Ring’s Influence Sauron
Follower
Resistance: -2
Aid - 2
Bearer must be an unbound companion.
While the Ring-bearer is wearing the One Ring, bearer has resistance 0.
While bearer has resistance 4 or less, bearer is strength -2.
While bearer has resistance 0, bearer is strength -2.
The Ring was like a weight around his neck. It took great effort even to lift his head.

EL and AP. Tough to even type that. Confused I like your cards, guys, but they’re a bit overpowered, in my opinion. I think they should have cost a little more.
Best regards, Dáin, Vice Aftokrator of the Chosen Ones

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!

Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North!

I was debating whether or not to raise Gríma’s cost to 2. Think

I hope it doesn’t come back to haunt me... Anxious

Spammers really are amazing creatures. You can learn all there is to know about their ways in a month. And yet, after a hundred years, they can still surprise you. Razz

Difficult, really difficult. Because I think Shadow followers should stay on minions and not transfer to companions, I’ll vote for AP and Lost Heir (both which I feel are also quite powerful).

Just for fun, and because I like to give some positive votes as well, here’s my top 3:

1. AC (plain, simple, and effective follower)
2. SoP (love how it works, with several interesting effects)
3. lem0n (really has the Gollum feel, and Gollum’s a good choice for a follower)
