I’ll give until noon EST for more votes, but if we don’t have any more by then, I guess that will have to do.

Oh, and I’ll do mine before then, too. Razz Gotta think about it a little.... Think

Bah, I’ve been working on it, you confounded prodigy! Razz

Okay, my votes are:

4
5
6

Funny that those worked out in order. Heheh.

So, that means the final tally for this round is:

AP (#4.) - 17
Drake (#8.) - 14
NB (#3.) - 11
Dáin (#2.) - 4
EL (#5.) - 3
Anvar (#6.) - 3
lem0n (#7.) - 1
mm (#9.) - 1
WLC (#1.) - 0

Amazingly, this means that the same person who overwhelmingly won the first round got NO votes this round. WeyounsLastClone, thanks for participating. GP Unfortunately, you are now eliminated.

AnonymousProdigy’s Sam will appear in my Two Towers set, The Way Into Mordor. Congrats, AP! Applause

Now, the next round will be our first head-to-head round. I will pair people up according to their order in the last round. So with #1 (WLC) being eliminated, that means that #2 and #3 will compete, #4 and #5 will compete, etc.

So that means that our matchups for this round will be:

Matchup #1:
Dáin Ironfoot vs. NBarden

Matchup #2:
AnonymousProdigy vs. elf lvr

Matchup #3:
Anvar vs. lem0nhead

Matchup #4:
AgentDrake vs. macheteman

The winner from each matchup will move on to our Final Four. Smile The winning entry from each matchup will also get into one of my sets, meaning that FOUR cards will be added this time.

So, everyone’s challenge for this round: design a Nazgûl from either The Two Towers or The Return of the King. The minion can be a named Nazgûl or a non-unique one like Black Rider; up to you.

A few more specific notes:

- As before, I want these to stick with the old-school themes of the Tower and King blocks. This CAN mean enduring, but make sure it’s balanced!

- Yes, you can do the Witch-king if you really, REALLY want to. Razz I’d prefer someone else so that we don’t end up with potentially four Wikkies winning, but it’s up to you.

- Like every other round, please include appropriate lore on your card. If you can’t find something you like from The Two Towers or Return of the King, then make something up! Razz

- I MEAN it this time: NO FRODO SIGNETS! Laughing

Depending on which cards win, winning entries will go into either my TTT set The Way Into Mordor or my RotK set The End Of All Things.

I know Christmas is approaching and people are going to be traveling, but I think it’s reasonable to expect cards by next Friday, December 21st by midnight EST. I really don’t want to hold things up later than that, since then we’re actually into Christmas and New Year’s, so please please PLEASE let me know ASAP if you’ll be traveling or whatever and need more time.

Have fun! Mr. Green
Best regards, Dáin, Vice Aftokrator of the Chosen Ones

WHAT THE HECK!?!?!?!?!

Your pairing system is messed up, Dain. Your Nazgul will feast on my flesh.

Oh well. If I knock out the great DC lord, I shall win renown.

No Frodo signets?

8 •The Witch-King, Bane of the Istari Wraith
14/4/3/Gandy Signet
Fierce. Damage +1.
Each companion with the Gandalf signet is strength -1.
Gandalf is strength -4 (or -7 if he bears the Gandalf signet).
Skirmish: Exert the Witch-King and spot a companion (except Frodo, NO FRODO SIGNETS!) to make him gain that companion’s signet until the end of the turn.

I have to agree. I was thinking it should have been based on points from this round, as in terms of most points vs. least points. Which means that NB would face... Anvar.

Well, not having paid much attention, it could have something to do with how promptly the contestants submit DCs. That way you don’t end up with as many wins by default.
Or it could all be random.

It’s not all necessarily set up as power protect.

I consider it pretty random, actually. I randomized the order of the last postings without any intention of using that for future pairings. But since it was random, I don’t see why it’s a problem myself....

Because you’re pairing randomly, that’s the problem.

It should be paired with 1st place against last place, second place against second to last, etc. Otherwise, you may pit two really good people against each other (who woulda ordinarily won) and then a bad DC maker would get second place.

Meh.
I got no problem with random matchups. Rolling Eyes
Sure, it’s not the typical way of doing things, but heck, who says it has to follow the norm?
Or any other standard or un-standard method. I can certainly see the case for power matching or power protecting, but personally, I think random makes it a lot more interesting.

Edit: DC sent.
