make it captured or rescued IMO
I’d be worried about him being overpowered then, since most capturing would be done by you, the Free Peoples player. You could then plan on capturing just one minion each turn and have Aeglirnen flying around at 12 strength and skirmishing at EVERY site. That’s a bit much, methinks. |

To play, spot Thranduil or a Elf companion.
Fellowship: Exert Galion to play a possession from your draw deck. If that possession is Dorwinian Wine, you may place a token on it.
“‘You began your feasting early and muddled your wits! You have stacked some full casks here instead of the empty ones, if there is anything in weight.’”
I never have been too fond of allies (I believe followers are more effective replacements), but this one certainly works. The specificity works well here.
DáinIronfoot wrote: • Dorwinian Wine

When you play this possession, place a token here for each Elf you can spot (limit 3).
Response: If a companion is about to exert, you may add and remove a token from here to place no token for that exertion.
Regroup: Discard this possession to heal X companions, where X is the number of tokens on this possession.
“‘Now come with me and taste the new wine that has just come in. I shall be hard at work tonight clearing the cellars of the empty wood, so let us have a drink first to help the labour.’”
Interesting. Works well with and Legolas and Legolas’ Bow. His first exertion is healed and then this possession can prevent the next one. Nifty.

While bearing a ranged weapon, Lianna is an archer.
She was a respected and feared warrior in the Elvenking’s army, noted for her independent streak.

Just a few notes. Add "spot" before Gwaihir to make the text flow effectively. The second line should be worded as: "While the fellowship is at an underground site..." And I love the assignment ability! Definitely for one of the most creative abilities ever! |

Made those recommended changes, MoS. Thanks!
Dáin’s DC Duos #87
Before we move on to the last couple Eagles, here’s a pair of strength pumps for the great birds...though admittedly, the second one is far from Eagle-specific. Enjoy!
Huge Black Shadows
Event • Skirmish
Exert an Eagle to make it strength +1 for each Eagle you spot (limit +4).
“Over them swooped the eagles; the dark rush of their beating wings smote them to the floor or drove them far away; their talons tore at goblin faces.”
The Clouds Burst
Event • Skirmish
Exert a non- companion to make him or her strength +1 for each companion you can spot (limit +4).
“The clouds were torn by the wind, and a red sunset slashed the West. Seeing the sudden gleam in the gloom Bilbo looked round. He gave a great cry: he had seen a sight that made his heart leap, dark shapes small yet majestic against the distant glow.” |

You need to change the response ability to:
Each time a minion is rescued, you may make Aeglirnen strength +4 and able to be assigned to skirmishes until the end of the turn.
Also, for the first ability, does he steal every Eagle’s home site? It seems like it could be interpreted either way.
Definitely a cool idea though.

Okay, I made changes as you both recommended. Thanks, AC and NB!
One more Duo before I call it a day. I really want to finish off Mirkwood by the end of tomorrow and move on!
Dáin’s DC Duos #88
Since the Eagles are a pretty small subculture, I tried to make them versatile and Swiss-Army-knife-ish. Here’s a couple cards that hopefully demonstrate this. Enjoy!
Keen Sight
Event • Fellowship or Regroup
If the fellowship is at any site 5 or above, spot an Eagle to examine a player’s adventure deck. Then you may play the fellowship’s next site from either your adventure deck or that player’s adventure deck (replacing opponent’s site if necessary).
“But eagles have keen eyes and can see small things at a great distance.”
Long Suspicion
Condition • Support Area
Each time a minion or Shadow condition with a twilight cost of (X) is played, you may exert X Eagles to return that card to its owner’s hand.
“...from their watchfulness the movements in the mountains could not be altogether hid.” |
