Way overpowered! What makes you think D would make anything like this?

Bearer must be a Hobbit companion.
Bearer gains hunter 1.
Skirmish: Reveal a tale or skirmish event from hand and add a threat to make bearer strength +2 (limit +4). You may not reveal that card again in this way for the rest of the turn.
“For each of the hobbits he chose a dagger, long, leaf-shaped, and keen, of marvellous workmanship, damasked with serpent-forms in red and gold....the blades seemed untouched by time, unrusted, sharp, glittering in the sun.”
I would drop the hunter part. Maybe even drop the strength +1 and add muster..... |
I had to put something here. |

How about I do this?
Blade of the Barrows
Possession • Hand Weapon
Strength +1
Bearer must be a Hobbit companion.
At the start of each skirmish phase, you may reveal a tale or skirmish event from hand to make bearer gain hunter 1 (or hunter 2 if that card is a card) until the regroup phase.

Well another opinion (or two) on the Barrow-blade would be very nice ( s to anyone who reviews it), but to avoid this topic being completely buried in the interim, here’s a somewhat unusual card. Enjoy!
What About Breakfast?
Event • Maneuver
Spot 4 Hobbits (or exert 2 Hobbits) to suspend the current phase. Begin a fellowship phase during which you may only play and use cards (and cards borne by or stacked on cards). When you are finished, resume the suspended phase.
“‘We’ve had one, yes. What about second breakfast?’” |

since nothing like this has been made before I can’t quite tell whether it is good or not. methinks it should be exert 2 hobbits though. |

Yeah, it’s an insane choking card. You probably need to make it exert two hobbits.
GP for the idea, though! |

Nice, that’s a very cool card! I like this one! Powerful, but balanced.

Interesting one...I like it, too. Good for a double, or for ultimate choke!! |

i think it works, but something doesn’t sit right with me. i think it would be best if it was very simple. here is what i would do, i’d keep the initial strength boost, but change the text to: "at the start of the skirmish phase you may reveal a tale from hand to make bearer gain hunter 1 until the regroup phase."
now, it has less potential, but also less cost. and think about the effects, if a hobbit is against one of those hunter 6 minions, a simple reveal can render it useless, if not fighting a hunter minion, the hobbit is strength +2. anyway, i think it would get more playtime that way.

yeah, but without hardly any twilight, there might be no minions, and with no minions, no maneuver phase. so it is rendered useless, at least until the later game. cool idea

Thanks for the reviews, everyone!
Okay, I cut back the Barrow-blade quite a bit, going with mm’s suggestion...with a twist. As promised, to both CG and mm for going back to review it. How is it now?
I also make a tweak to What About Breakfast?. How’s it look? |
