When you play this minion, if it is not roaming, you may play a Moria Orc with equal or lesser strength from your draw deck.
“Away beyond the shadows at the western end of the hall there came cries and horn-calls. Doom, doom: the pillars seemed to tremble and the flames to quiver.”

Cool. I’d make him strength 8 though, there are very few Moria orcs with strength 7 and a lot with 8.

At the start of the regroup phase, discard another Moria Orc to make the move limit -1 for this turn (to a minimum of 1).
Skirmish: If this minion is not assigned to a skirmish, discard it to add 3.
“There was a guard of orcs crouching in the shadows behind the great door posts towering on either side....”

Cool.

“...a great horn was blown in the hall, and answering horns and harsh cries were heard further off. There was a hurrying sound of many feet.”

I actually think you should tone him down, and make him a bit more like scurrying goblin. Even if the ability required another Moria Orc, it would be a lot better. And he needs a new lore... We’ve got to make you work a little, now don’t we? Razz

Id give it 1 vitality, so its harder for it to survive to the regroup, otherwise its a very powerful move limiter.

Tweaked both cards a bit...how do they look now?

Well, we’re approaching the Bridge of Khazad-dûm, and you all know what that means. Rolling Eyes But first, we’ve got to get past all these goblins!

1 Trapped! Moria
Event • Response
If a Moria Orc wins a skirmish, choose one: heal that minion; exert a companion in that skirmish, or remove 2 to capture an exhausted companion in that skirmish.
“‘Why did I delay? Here we are, caught, just as they were before.’”

1 Swarming Goblins Moria
Condition • Support Area
Shadow: Spot 2 Moria minions to play a Moria minion stacked here as if played from hand. Remove 1 or discard this condition.
Regroup: If no minion is stacked here, spot your Moria Orc to stack it here.
“...there seemed to be hundreds of orcs.”

I almost just reprinted Goblin Swarms, but I decided to go for something similiar but just different enough to really shine on its own. At least, that’s what I was TRYING to do....

0 Host of Thousands Moria (reprint)
Event • Shadow
Play a Moria Orc from your discard pile.
Killing one is no victory, since a dozen from the warrens below will take his place.

Here, I couldn’t think of any better way to do it, so a reprint will have to suffice. It’s such a staple card for Moria Orcs, in my opinion.

O ok how come moria orcs are doing capturing, though it was spider related seeing as they actually did capture things.

Nice twist on goblin swarms and flung into the fray, make it add 1 as you can only stack 1 goblin at a time.

But they’re not the only ones who do capturing in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Capturing appeared in Lasting Alliances more than you can except it to appear in future sets (except, perhaps, the RotK set The End Of All Things), and it’s used by several Shadow cultures (the Orc Trolls, the Moria Orcs, the Green Spiders, etc.) and several FP cultures. Spiders have a LOT of it, yes, probably more than any other race will end up with. But it’s not a Spider-exclusive thing by any means.

This card is a rarity in THIS set, though, as there aren’t any other Moria capturing cards in the set. It’s mainly there to build on the Lasting Alliances Moria capturing strategies. In most cases, when used without those other cards, I imagine this will be a healing card.

Ok ok, dont think i was around for when you did that, so havent seen you moria capturing theme sorry. Cant really comment then. Its a hand clogger though saving that to heal once only IF you win a skirmish or capture only IF your facing an exhausted companion.

Right. I know capturing is very, very powerful, so I try not to make it TOO easy, especially for Shadow players.

If you make it too hard, it isn’t worth it. Take out the exertion as the cost for the second bit (unless you’re confident that there are enough Moria Orcs in your sets with more than 1 vitality), and add an option to exert a companion they’re skirmishing to make the capturing easier.

Don’t you mean remove 1? Adding 1 is never a problem for the Shadow player! In fact, as the card is now it generates an infinite twilight pool because the playing of a stacked minion is the effect not the cost! Razz

I would raise the cost to 2. Smile
I had to put something here.
