Actually, since it’s a condition, wouldn’t you want to play it ASAP? After all, if you left it in your hand you couldn’t use it till the next turn. |

Ach! I am the big dummy. I forgot what type of card my own DC was for a second! I thought it was an event. Heh.

But the rest of my points are still valid. I think. |

Dáin’s DC Duos #89

Okay, folks. Just one more Duo after this and we’re finished with !

Here’s a couple more events showing more of the versatility of Eagles. I think I’ll just hush up and let the cards speak for themselves...hopefully they already speak volumes. Enjoy!

  The Eagles!

Event • Maneuver

Spot a Hobbit to play an Eagle from your hand or discard pile; that Eagle’s twilight cost is -1 for each companion you can spot (limit -3).

“‘The Eagles! the Eagles!’ Bilbo cried, dancing and waving his arms. If the elves could not see him they could hear him. Soon they too took up the cry, and it echoed across the valley.”

  Seized In His Claws

Event •

Toil 1.

Spot an Eagle to capture a minion with less printed strength than that Eagle.

“He had just strength to wonder what the messenger had meant by ‘prisoners,’ and to begin to think of being torn up for supper like a rabbit....”

Like I said, only one more FP Duo before we move on. If you haven’t already, cast your vote for the next culture to cover in the Duos, and look for us to get started on it sometime tomorrow...assuming this and the next Duo get reviewed first. |

Cool. I think it’d be cool if it allowed you to play the Eagle from your hand or discard pile, just to make it a bit more playable.

Spot an Eagle to capture a minion with no more than 4 printed vitality.

I don’t like it. It just makes capturing too easy; for just 4 twilight during maneuver, you can eliminate the Witch-king or Castamir before they have a chance to hurt you.

very interesting. Personally I would make it draw deck, cost 1, and in fellowship. but that kinda totally changes the concept

should be worded with 12 or less printed strength... |

Alright, I want to get the last FP cards up tonight so we can start the next culture tomorrow. My usual policy still applies: if you want to go back and review (or re-review) older cards, feel free!

Dáin’s DC Duos #90

Well, dear friends, here at last, by the shores of the...uh...forum, comes the end of our fellowship.

Yes, my fellow forumers, after the following cards are posted, the mostly-successful introduction of the Mirkwood culture will be over. *sniff* Hope you’ve enjoyed reading and reviewing it as much as I’ve enjoyed sharing it with you. We’ll be back eventually, both with the large Shadow side and with some final clean-up when we’re through the bulk of Lasting Alliances.

But for now, it’s time to close things out with a mega-posting. That’s right! You get a few bonus cards today: three Radagast-themed cards that were already posted back when we went through Gandalf and other Wizard cards, but I’m reposting now since they deal with Eagles and also happen to be cards. So if you haven’t seen them before, enjoy the bonus!

  Great Eagle

Companion • Eagle

Strength: 8

Vitality: 3

Unhasty.

Assignment: Exert 2 Eagles (or a Wizard) or discard 2 cards from hand to allow this companion to be assigned to skirmishes until the regroup phase.

Skirmish: If this companion is not assigned to a skirmish, discard it and remove to make another companion (except the Ring-bearer) strength +5 until the regroup phase.

“But the ancient race of the northern mountains were the greatest of all birds....”

He may be rather difficult to get skirmishing, but that skirmish ability makes it tough to justify assigning him to skirmishes anyway! Especially when paired with cards like Gandalf, Greyhame and On Your Doorstep.

  Eagle of the Great Shelf

Ally • Home 5 [LA] • Eagle

Strength: 7

Vitality: 3

Unhasty.

Each time the fellowship moves, exert this ally or add .

This ally gains each home site of each Eagle ally.

Assignment: Exert 2 companions (or one Eagle companion) or discard 2 cards from hand to allow this ally to be assigned to a skirmish.

“...they were proud and strong and noble-hearted.”

Not as much to say about this one. Not too bad to have around as a skirmisher when you really need the help.

Now comes Radagast. I’ll just post these without comment, since I commented on them a while ago. And I’m feeling lazy.

 •Radagast, Gandalf’s Cousin

Companion • Wizard

Strength: 7

Vitality: 4

Resistance: 7

Radagast is strength +1 for each Tree, Eagle, and Free Peoples mount you can spot (limit +3).

Fellowship: Exert Radagast and discard 2 cards (or one or card) from hand to heal an Eagle, Tree, or Ent.

“‘...not a bad fellow as wizards go, I believe.’”

  Service Repaid

Event • Regroup

Spell.

Exert your Wizard and spot 3 Eagles (or 2 Eagle companions) to make the move limit +1 for this turn.

“The wizard and the eagle-lord appeared to know one another slightly, and even to be on friendly terms... He was discussing plans with the Great Eagle for carrying the dwarves and himself and Bilbo far away and setting them down well on their journey across the plains below.”

 •Not A Bad Fellow

Condition • Support Area

Each time the fellowship moves during the regroup phase, you may exert Radagast to remove for each companion you can spot (limit ).

“‘...but perhaps you have heard of my good cousin Radagast who lives near the Southern borders of Mirkwood?’” |

I’d make the skirmish ability only work on unbound companions.

I would drop the strength to 7, because he seems really good right now.

Up the cost to 2 (or 3 and toil 2) and it’s great.

Not bad, not bad. Good effect with a balanced cost.
