no pledges right? boy i was kinda careless, but I wanted to say one thing, I think you might have lowered the grade on some of my PB cards because they didn’t have the parody factor, but I believe you said that they weren’t supposed to be parody?
Also are you going to eliminate someone this round? since around everyone but 5 quit, I don’t think ti would be necessary.(This is in some ways ot save my skin as i don’t see how I have a chance.) |

Pledges are allowed as normal. I think that yes, I’m still eliminating someone, but it’ll probably be Gagnut anyway. And yep, you DO raise a fine point... I’ll review your grades, and be more careful with the other ones. They’ll be renewed in less than 1 hour. |

Ok, next one rounded up is corvus!
War Wrath of a Maia
Event • Response
If a skirmish involving your Maia or Balrog is about to end, you may remove a threat to discard the character he was skirmishing.
It’s not my fault being the biggest and the strongest. I don’t even exercise.
R
Comments: REALLY cool, although it has one minor issue: to better link with the title, your character should WIN the skirmish, ’cause if he loses it, then he isn’t so big and strong, now is he? Also, too low of a cost. If they’re so big and strong, they can bear with a higher cost, too...
Grade: 9.55
I Can Cope With Torture
Event • Maneuver
To play, spot 2 free peoples cultures.
Discard the top card of any draw deck. If it is a shadow card, make the free peoples player exert Smeagol or 2 unbound companions.
Don’t believe me?
U
Comments: Cool, and I like how it can be used even WITHOUT Smeagol/Gollum in a deck, but relates to him in culture, but because of this very same thing, it becomes a card too easy to use, it should enforce its culture at least a bit.
Grade: 9.0
To the Death!
Condition • Support Area
Each time Gandalf wins a skirmish, you may add a threat or exert an unbound companion to transfer this condition to a companion. Bearer is strength +2 and resistance +1.
No! To the pain!
R+
Comments: Cool. Minor errors, but nothing else to add.
Grade: 9.85
Their Roots Go Deep
Event • Shadow
To play, spot an orc.
Reveal the top card of your draw deck. If it is an card, take it into hand (and add if it was a minion).
It won’t be easy, Sire.
Try ruling Middle-Earth sometime.
C
Comments: Depicting a dialog, flavor text should have "-" before the sentences. But I really liked the choices made. Really cool.
Grade: 9.84
Aragorn, Seeker
Companion • Man
Strength: 8
Vitality: 4
Resistance: 8
Ranger. Hunter 1.
Fellowhip:Exert Aragorn twice to reveal an opponent’s hand. Remove for each minion revealed this way.
I do not mean to pry, but you don’t by any chance happen to have a Ring of Power on your right hand?
S
Comments: I liked how Ranger and Hunter fit the whole theme of seeking, but really, what’s with the ability? The card would be WAY cooler if it was "weaker" but had something like: "If the Ring-bearer puts on The One Ring, you may play this card from your draw deck". Then it would link SO well with the flavor text AND the title!
Grade: 8.5
Echoes of Things to Pass
Event • Regroup
Spor Arwen or 3 companions, to discard a shadow artifact or remove 2 burdens.
Because you had love in your hands and you gave it up! Your true love lives, and you sail off to Valinor! True love saved her from a lonely immortal life, and she treated it like garbage. And that’s what she is, the Queen of Refuse.
C
Comments: Again, same problem. But this time, title and flavor text don’t add up, with each other or with the card’s text, so, basically, the card has 3 independent parts. So far, corvus’ submission is really solid, so I believe this may be his weaker card, by far.
Grade: 6.5
• King of the Dead, Bearer of Great Curse
Companion • Wraith
Strength: 9
Vitality: 5
Signet: Aragorn
To play, spot Aragorn and a wraith.
King of the Dead is strength +1 for each wraith you can spot and strength -1 for each threat you can spot.
When King of the Dead is killed, discard every wraith you can spot.
You can die slowly, cut into a thousand pieces.
R
Comments: ANOTHER one with the same problem, although it being a wraith alone links to the flavor text. However, why didn’t you make something to REALLY link with it, like: If King of the Dead is exhausted and about to take a wound, place a grave token (or token, whatever) on him and prevent that wound. When you can spot 3 (or whatever) ___ tokens on him, place him in the dead pile.
Grade: 7.5
• The Mouth of Sauron, New Bearer of Mithril
Minion • Man
Strength: 9
Vitaliyt: 3
Site Number: 5
When you play the Mouth of Sauron, you may discard X cards from hand, to either draw X cards and remove X twilight, or add X threats.
Your hobbit is dead. I killed him myself.
R
Comments: No link to the Mithril-coat’s text (should have, I think), no relation to hobbits whatsoever. But the threat part DOES add up nicely, imposing a sense of fear through his bluff.
Grade: 7.75
• Frodo, Bearer of Too Many Things
Companion • Miserable Halfling
Strength:3
Vitality: 4
Resistance: No more than 6.
Fellowship: Scream loudly: "what’s that?" If your opponent turns around, remove any number of burdens and wounds from Frodo. If your opponent finds out, put them back you cheater!
That’s what halflings are good at. Stealing. Period.
After the movie: Alright alright.
C
Comments: Cool opener, but I think a Smeagol or Bilbo Ring-bearers would fit the theme more nicely (THEY stole the Ring from someone, after all, Frodo merely received it). Also, as I said on sop’s review, remember that the idea SHOULD be to PRINT this in a card, so that Resistance, although funny, is a no-go. And this Frodo wouldn’t be able to use ANY cards that required hobbits in its text, and that would be kind of a hoser. I LOVED the ability, though! Great spirit!
Grade: 8.5
• Troll’s Keyward, Brown-Pants Guide
Minion • Orc
Strenth: 8
Vitality: 3
Site Number: 4
The Cave-Troll of Moria is twilight cost -[3/2]. Argue with your opponent on how to round this number. If the Cave-Troll of Moria is exerts, exert this minion. If the Cave-Troll of Moria is killed, shuffle this minion into your box or binder. With the penny sleeve you slow-brain, it just fled from battle!
Don’t put me in front you jackass!
AGA AGA AGA WAGA!
*Sigh* I shouldn’t have applied for this job...
U
Comments: AMAZING idea for a card, but its text may be TOO big. Also, I think it should be worded "remove it from the game and store it with your stash of extra cards you TCG players always carry" or something, to better clarify that part. Other than that, MAJOR problems with formatting and writing its text, so the grade’s going down because of that.
Grade: 7.0
He Is Harmless Now
Condition • Support Area
This condition cannot be discarded. Not even with Wrath of God.
Saruman may only take wounds from Gandalf.
Can i bitch-slap him Gandalf? Pleeeeease!
No! He is my game. Myyyy, precious!
R
Comments: I liked it, but it’s... awkward. First, Wrath of God do not clear Enchantments, only Creatures, the card you were looking for is Tranquility. Also, if he’s harmless, it should not let him wound anyone, and ALSO make him lose his text.
Grade: 7.0
• Ugluk, Unpleasant but Honest
Minion • Uruk-Hai
Strength: 9
Vitality: 3
Site Number: 2
Hunter 2.
While you can spot Mauhur, Ugluk is fierce.
While you can spot Lurtz, Ugluk is Damage +1, archer, muster, lurker, toil 1, and foil.
I am sorry Mauhur, it is Lurtz that i really love. I only want you for the fierce thing.
U or C, who cares anymore? Both are not rare.
Comments: Smae problem with card space, on rarity. Wouldn’t fit. Other than that, perfectly nice.
Grade: 9.5
Mumak-Warg-Spider rider [orc]
Minion • small orc
Strength: 2
Vitality: 1/2
Site Number: 5,67
While Mumak-Warg-Spider rider bears all this stuff, he is a beast. He kills two companions in every skirmish phase he takes place and makes the move limit -1.
I usually ride the Warg, to be more stabilized on the oliphant. The mumak crashes any heavy enemy things we find, and then the warg and i eat them. Or the warg and i ride on less heavy enemy things and we eat them. The spider? That is my lunch!
U
Comments: Now, wording is all wrong, but for a purpose, depicting how HE does ALL that! Nice idea on this one! I could see a double number at vitality, but a triple? The site should be, like, 5,5 tops.
Grade: 9.5
ARGH!!!!!
Response • Depends
When your opponent plays something too annoying like Travelled Leader, cancel the card that activated this annoying effect.
NO YOU WON"T YOU MISERABLE ************************
R++
Comments: Almost perfect, but tricky wording. Should be something like: "Whenever an annoying effect is about to happen, cancel it. It can’t be used again this turn." THEN it could even let Greenleaf exert for NOTHING!
Grade: 9.5
• Castamir of Umbar
Minion • Man
Strength: 14
Vitality: 4
Site Number: 4
Corsair. Fierce. Enduring. Captain 1000.
Each corsair is strength +1 and turned towards the Castamir of Umbar as if they worshiped him.
There is only one Captain in this movie, you sea-dogs! ME! THE GREAT CASTAMIR!
R
Comments: What can I say? An existing card? Sorry, can’t accept it.
Grade: 0
Training of the Uruks
Event • Shadow
Take a black pencil and write fierce (in bold) on an uruk-hai. It is now fierce. Repeat this with any other keyword you have in mind except unhasty. You may color it with a pretty marker to make it look foil as well.
Whom do you serve?
Umh, Austin Powers?
This will take a while....[/quote]
U
Comments: Amazing! But one problem, though: hunter is a keyword, but NOT hunter 1, so it should either let you write numbers (too broken), or state that a keyword that needs a number is rendered inactive, except for spotting purposes.
Grade: 9.0
I specially liked corvus’ submission, he grasped the concept nicely, and seem to have had fun doing it. He just needs to work a little more on his formatting. So far, two submissions, and 2 gp awarded (might end up making you guys richier than you deserve! Should’ve raised the bar a little ).
Final Grade: 8.031 |

I thought I’d give a more elaborate answer to sop’s comment, so here goes:
As I mentioned before, corvus’ cards ALL contain direct (or almost-direct) quotes either in title or lore, but of course, that’s not enough. All the cards’ abilities MATCH the Princess Bride lore/title, and if you check the comments, you’ll see that the ones that didn’t match very well got points subtracted for that. Just thought I should clear that up. |
I don't like YOU. |

Ok, next one on the line is thonnas7, so here goes nothing:
Cut Into a Thousand Pieces
Event • Shadow
Spot 2 minions to prevent a follower from being transfered to a companion until the regroup phase.
"Tch-tch-tch. You’re hardly complimentary, your Highness."
Rare
Comments: Really cool, but underpowered. Costs too much for doing what it does as a rare! Also, I didn’t quite get tha flavor text. Other than this, fairly good, I like the idea of a follower on its way to help a companion, when he’s cut into pieces!
Grade: 8.75
You Killed My Uncle!
Event • Response
If a companion is killed, exert a companion twice to discard 2 minions.
"Good heavens. Are you still trying to win? You’ve got an overdeveloped sense of vengeance. It’s going to get you into trouble someday."
Uncommon
Comments: Cool! Nothing to add, really! Perfect submission! Title, ability AND flavor text, all clinging together, not to mention a nice ability at a reasonable cost and rarity. Congratulations on this one, thonnas7!
Grade: 10
Live a Long Life
Event • Reponse
If an opponent places an archery wound on a minion, exert Gandalf and discard 2 cards from hand to prevent that and make him place that wound on another minion.
"Shall I dispatch Saruman for you?"
Uncommon
Comments: Poor submission, following such a good one! Aside from the problems with wording, the second part actually mistook minion for companion, so you’d be basically discarding cards and exerting a companion to play an event (thus, burning a total of 3 cards) to make a minion about to be wounded live, and let the Shadow player assign that wound to a companion? Ach! Even though, the IDEA of the card is cool (albeit kind of overcosted), and it goes nicely with the theme.
Grade: 4.0
Where Does My Loyalty Lie?
Event • Fellowship
Exert a companion to heal another companion (or heal that companion twice if it is Faramir or Boromir).
"I can’t afford to make exceptions. I mean, once word leaks out that a steward has gone soft, people begin to disobey him and it’s nothing but work, work, work all the time."
Common
Comments: Boromir, I can get, but seriously, Faramir? And why not exert Denethor, and make it a Condition? It’s a good card, notheless, just minor nitpicks, and also, again, can’t quite get the flavor text with the card’s text... They seem somewhat, opposite.
Grade: 9.3
• Legolas’s Arrows
Possession • Arrow
Bearer must be Legolas.
The fellowship archery total is +1.
Skirmish: Exert Legolas to wound a minion he is skirmishing. An opponent may remove to prevent this.
"And our assets?"
Rare
Comments: This one is SO broken I can’t even BEGIN to describe! But I like it! And it fits the theme well enough.
Grade: 9.5
•Aragorn, Poor and Perfect
Companion • Man
Strength: 6
Vitality: 4
Resistance: 6
Ranger.
Aragorn is strength +1 for each possession or artifact he bears.
Regroup: Discard a possession borne by Aragorn to draw 3 cards.
"Who is he? Another elf like that one? Pretty, rich and fair?"
Uncommon
Comments: Ouch! Ok, so his resistance is a little lower, and so is his strength, but he is SO powerful! And no limit? Ouch again! WAY too powerful for an uncommon, maybe even for being printed at all!
Grade: 8.0
Thibault Cancels Out Capo Ferro
Condition • Support Area
To play, spot a Man.
Each time a man is played, you may exert a or man to exert that man.
"Naturally, you must expect me to attack with Capo Ferro."
Uncommon
Comments: Great, again. Happy to see this one!
Grade: 10
Trying to Trick Me
Event • Reponse
If an opponent is about the reveal your hand or a card from you hand, exert a Hobbit to cancel that.
"It has worked! You’ve given everything away! I know where the hobbit is!"
Common
Comments: Weird, is all I can say. I like what it does, but I can’t link it with the flavor text at all, which is the Princess Bride part, as far as I’m concerned.
Grade: 7.5
Ent Infestation
Condition • Site
When the fellowship moves to this site, they may play as many Ents as they please from their draw deck. If the shadow players opposes, tough luck for him. Discard those Ents at the end of the game.
"Saruman had run dry, or wet in this case, on his luck."
UUER (Ultra Unbelievably Extremely Rare)
Comments: I liked the rarity thing, and it COULD be done, but wouldn’t still be the best way of doing so, and that amount of letters wouldn’t fit in an actual card as they are now, not without changing the presses. However, it would still not be the best way of doing so, it would be best to just use an R (for rare) of another color, like golden! Then, the card is REALLY cool, and if you would get one in every 3 or so boxes, it would be balanced enough. Also, you can only play it if you’re behind, and you’d add a TON of twilight, so NICE one! Cool opener for the parody part!
Grade: 9.8
Bit of a Leap
Event • Regroup
To play, spot an minion.
Grab a piece of chalk and go outside. Draw two lines on the ground. They must be within 10 feet of each other. Have the free peoples player jump from one line to the other. If he cannot do this in two tries return to the table and start the turn over at the shadow phase.
Uncommon
Comments: Cool card! But... giving you a whole Shadow phase? Should be a rare.
Grade: 9.8
We Should Have Kept Them
Event • Reponse
If you just discarded a card, but changed your mind and your opponent refuses to give common courtesy and let you re-do, play this card to take the discarded card into hand just to spite him.
"Sometimes there are alternative ways around a harsh opponent."
Common
Comments: Aside from the minor errors, I thought it should work for other instances, like swapping wounds, reassigning skirmishes after you said "done", and stuff like that, otherwise, it’s just TOO narrow! And it should also play for free.
Grade: 8.0
Where Did That Come From?
Event • Whenever
Exert a minion to reveal an opponent’s hand. If you reveal a card with a picture of a scene that was cut from the original movie of Lord of the Rings and did not make it into an extended version, discard that card.
Common
Comments: Hah, cool! All I can really say.
Grade: 10
Warrior of Dagorlad
Companion • Deceased Elf
Strength: 4
Vitality: 1
Resistance: -10
Dead. (This companion may not skirmish.)
Skirmish: Discard this companion to wound a minion. On your next turn your opponent may take this card into hand and kill it by removing it from the game.
"Some wondered why they even bothered."
Common
Comments: Bizarre card. I like the parody stuff, but it’s just SOOO nearly-useless!
Grade: 9.5
Greed of the Dwarves
Event • Fellowship
If you can spot a artifact, exert a Dwarf to replace your entire fellowship with Dwarves. If you play a companion from a culture, other than during the rest of the game, all of your dwarves (except the Ring-bearer) become permanent minions on the table during your turn.
"The Dwarves were quite...protective...of their treasures."
Rare
Comments: Terrible one! To have a lingering effect, it should be a Condition so as to make the players’ lives easier than making them remember a bunch of stuff. Then, it should sayd "replace with OTHER Dwarves" if some are out. And what about the R-b? Is he discarded? What happens to wounds and burdens? Too many issues. And "become permanent minions"? Why not "become minions"?
Grade: 5.0
Elf of the Black Land
Minion • Deceased Elf
Strength: 0
Vitality: 1
Site Number: 4
If you can spot a Warrior of Dagorlad this minion is strength +100 and damage +2.
Shadow: Remove this minion from the game to look through your binder for a Warrior of Dagorlad. If you find one you may make your opponent take it into hand.
Common
Comments: Now THIS is COOL! Too bad it does not FORCE opponent to actually PLAY the Warrior! Also, remember, he can discard the warrior and make THIS another useless minion, too... Almost nailed it, though! Tripped on your way!
Grade: 8.0
Binder of Possessions
Event • Fellowship
Exert X companions to search your binder for X possesions. Play those possessions on your companions whether or not the possessions allow it or not.
"Some wondered if Eowyn was a smuggler as somehow Orc Scimitars kept showing up in the Weapons Storage."
Uncommon ++
Comments: Too broken, again! I LOVED the effect, but for this cost, it should do it only ONCE! Also, you tripped on some words, as this condition allows my Eomer to bear as many Flaming Brands as I want (providing I can exert the needed companions), so this would be too powerful with a Rohan ARB.
Grade: 7.0
