We could also make a loaded keyword to companions that allowed them, under VERY strict (and expensive) circunstancies, create a dead pile for unique minions...
There’s a problem with your first one: either it results in free twilight, or it results in a twilight waste: say you’ve got in the pool, and you play a captain for . The twilight pool is at . If you can discard that captain for , you’ve just generated for nothing!
Goblin Runner does it, WHILE aiding in swarms, and he costs ONE. Even against choke you can get him out. I don’t see the problem. You’d have to waste a powerful minions AND a card from your hand (since he’d be discarded, not even getting to skirmish), so you could play the rest. I don’t think it’s overpowered at all. It’s all about choice
Conditions are generally best for this, such as that one card that’s not coming to mind...costs , is discarded for ...garrr! What is it??
You play it early on the game, or when you have twilight going to waste, and later on, it gives you the so needed twilight for that extra pair of minions. Also, stops clogging your hang. But yes, it’s crappy even though.
The second one is a good idea. I’d love to see the look on your opponent’s face when they’ve got a Shelob in hand and a Shelob is in the dead pile!
Keep in mind, this should cost A LOT! Maybe even putting the winning companion in YOUR dead pile, too. Of course, we could have crappy companions with this keyword, so if you got him to win against a big guy, it wouldn’t be a REAL loss for the deck’s core. But then, they should be real weaklings!
Felipe Musco wrote: But why have only ONE new keyword? I mean, the entire LotR sets are from the War of the Ring, and stuff, and they have TONS of keywords, so, well, you see what I mean, right? Maybe each culture could have they’re own new keyword! Of course, some of them COULD be present on other cultures, but well.
One new loaded keyword for each culture??
Why not?

I love those two new keywords. Malice isn’t so bad...I mean, all the dwarves practically do the same thing with Dwarven Axe!
Slaughter is a little underpowered, I mean, ambush generates a lot more twilight. |

I hate discarding, so I quit if Malice is a keyword.
Slaughterer is okay... but I don’t like it all that much. Ambush is cooler, IMHO. |

How about reinforcements X ?
When you play this minion, reveal the top X cards of your draw deck. You may play any minion of the same culture revealed. Put the rest of the cards on the bottom of your library/discard pile. |

instead of putting the revealed cards in your discard pile, why not just put them under your draw deck? otherwise a minion with this ability could wase a TON of good freeps cards by revealing, then discarding them |

Yeah, I agree with PT here. It’s cool, because it’s a variant of cards like Eomer, Keeper of Oaths. |

Now, this thread is getting out of hand. I say we open voting, with my idea of a loaded keyword for each culture. We choose what each will affect (Twilight Pool for , for instance) by voting, and, since I can’t really work on the cultures, I develop them. Then, I post 3 ideas for each, and we vote (again) on each one. Then, I post 3 names for each one (or maybe each of us propose a name for each one, I don’t know), and we vote yet again.
How does it sound? |
