UGH. Woke up this morning to find the basement of our home flooded. It’s been raining heavily for a while and I think the foundation just got over-saturated. I’ve been using towels and a wet-dry vac ALL DAY to clean it up and keep it from coming back. Constant process of vacuuming and putting down dry towels, while drying the previously-used towels and hoping our poor, overworked dryer can finish them before the old ones are soaking wet. Not cool. After the initial clean-up, I’ve kept ahead of the water all day, though just barely at times. It’s been a war, but I have emerged victorious, as the water has FINALLY slowed to the point where I can relax a bit.
As if that wasn’t enough, on her way home from church this morning (she drove herself since I was busy with the aforementioned flood), my wife’s car started acting funny. Her meters go out as she gets close to home, and then the car dies just as she gets into the driveway. Her battery is as dead as...well, as I feel. So I drive out in my car, get her a new battery, and take a break from playing Noah to change her battery.
Now that THAT is all (mostly) done, I have the final exam (take-home) for my current class due Wednesday, and thanks to today’s turmoil, I’ve barely started.
HOWEVER, the reason I’m posting all this HERE is that, despite the trials of the day, not rain nor sleet nor tests nor dead batteries are gonna keep me from getting today’s Duo up! Uncle Dáin is even more reliable than the postman.
So, back on track. It looks like, in general, people are happy with all the cards posted thus far. If not, give me a holler and I’ll go back and correct as needed. Otherwise, on we go!
Dáin’s DC Duos #156
A couple events this time. Enjoy!
Need of Secrecy and Speed
Condition • Support Area
Stealth.
Play this condition only during the maneuver phase.
Each time a Man is about to take a wound, you may exert an Elf (or spot 3 Elves) to prevent that. Discard this condition at the start of the regroup phase.
“Then Felaróf sprang forward, and all the host behind followed like a great wind, but in a strange silence....”
A Speed Beyond Hope
Event • Regroup
Spot 2 companions and exert each unmounted companion to make the move limit +1 for this turn.
“So they rode on, as fresh and eager as on the morning of their setting-out....”
There are 2 mounts in the set, and we’ll get to them next time. |

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!
Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North! |

With , it’s easy to get everyone mounted. And even if you don’t, 2 exertions or so isn’t a high price to pay for an extra move. Maybe add a small other cost... like a threat or two.

Why would you use this over Riding Like the Wind?

Why not use both?

Dáin’s DC Duos #157
Last time I promised mounts. This time I deliver. Enjoy!
•Felaróf, Very Valiant, Very Strong
Possession • Mount
Resistance +1
To play, spot 2 Men. Bearer must be a valiant Man or a Wizard.
At the start of each skirmish involving bearer, each minion skirmishing bearer must exert.
Each companion bearing a or mount is strength +1.
“He understood all that men said, and was long-lived as they say, as were his descendants, the mearas, ‘who would bear no one but the King of the Mark and his sons, until the time of Shadowfax.’”
Éothéod Mount
Possession • Mount
To play, spot a Man. Bearer must be a Man.
Bearer gains hunter 1 (or hunter 2 if at a river or plains site).
At the start of each skirmish involving bearer, each minion skirmishing bearer must exert.
The Northmen of Calenardhon treated their horses with utmost respect, knowing they would be little without them. |

Two subtitles! I would add a hunter 1 bonus. Cool card!

Wow... Lots of bonuses. But, since bearer is fairly limited, I guess that’s okay.

I understand the rational behind river or plains, but I think battleground or plains would fit the culture better. Just my 2c, though. |
