Let’s see those DCs, Dain! Very Happy

I’m looking forward to seeing CC’s versions of the fellowship keyword... Think
I had to put something here.

Last call for cards! If you intend to submit DCs, and just haven’t quite finished yet, reply to this thread and let me know how much time you still need. If I don’t have any requests for extentions by this afternoon, I’ll post what I have at that point.
Best regards, Dáin, Vice Aftokrator of the Chosen Ones

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!

Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North!

Okay, I think I’ve given others more than enough time to enter, so we’ll go with what we’ve got. Here they are, in the order they were submitted.

Please vote for your favorite three. Each first place vote will net that author 3 points, each second place vote will get 2 points, and each third place = 1 point.

Voting will end on Sunday, June 17th, at midnight EST; whoever has the most votes by then will win Legolas, of the Woodland Realm, Gimli, Feared Axeman, and Baruk Khazad! Very Happy I would ask that you please vote within this thread rather than via PM, so my poor overworked inbox doesn’t explode. Razz

Here are the cards! Good luck to BW, WLC, AP, and AC! Thumbs Up

BattleWarg:

0 •Frodo, A Little More Cautious Shire
Companion • Hobbit
3 Strength
4 Vitality
10 Ringed Resistance
Ring-bound. Ring-bearer.
Each time a Shadow card would make Frodo wear The One Ring, you may prevent that unless any Shadow player removes 1 for each culture you can spot among companions (limit 4).
”That is no trinket you carry.”

2 •Sam, Coming With Shire
Companion • Hobbit
3 Strength
4 Vitality
10 Resistance
Ring-bound. While Sam is the Ring-bearer, he is resistance -5.
While you can spot Frodo, each time a burden is about to be added, you may add 2 to prevent that burden and take off The One Ring.
Response: If Frodo is killed, Sam becomes the Ring-bearer.
”Go back, Sam! I’m going to Mordor alone.”

1 •Merry, Minstrel Shire
Companion • Hobbit
3 Strength
4 Vitality
9 Resistance
Each unbound companion is resistance +1.
Maneuver: Exert Merry to take a Shire condition into hand from your discard pile.
”But the only brew for the brave and true…”

1 •Pippin, Minstrel Shire
Companion • Hobbit
3 Strength
4 Vitality
9 Resistance
Each unbound companion with resistance 7 or more is strength +1 for each Hobbit you can spot (limit +3).
Maneuver: Exert Pippin to take a Shire possession into hand from your discard pile.
”Through shadow; to the edge of night; until the stars are all alight”

4 •Aragorn, Friend to Gandalf Gondor
Companion • Man
8 Strength
4 Vitality
8 Resistance
Ranger.
While you can spot a Gandalf Wizard, each time the fellowship moves, remove 1.
Response: If Gandalf is about to exert, add a threat to place no token for that exertion (limit once per phase).
”I think a servant of the Enemy would look fairer and feel fouler.”

3 •Boromir, No Thief Gondor
Companion • Man
7 Strength
3 Vitality
5 Resistance
Ring-bound. To play, spot a Ring-bound Hobbit.
Each time a Shadow card would add a burden, you may wound Boromir to prevent that burden.
While Boromir is resistance 0, remove him from the game and return a minion to its owner’s hand.
”There are other ways Frodo, other paths we might take.”

4 •Gandalf, Kingmaker Gandalf
Companion • Wizard
7 Strength
4 Vitality
7 Resistance
Each time you play a Gandalf or Gondor card, you may exert Gandalf to make its twilight cost -1.
Fellowship: Exert Gandalf to take a Gondor artifact from your deck into hand.
”There is one who could unite them. One who could reclaim the throne of Gondor.”

2 •Legolas, Cave-walker Elven
Companion • Elf
6 Strength
3 Vitality
7 Resistance
Archer.
While at an underground site, Legolas is strength +1 and resistance +1.
While you can spot Gimli, Legolas is damage +1.
”’Nay! There is no time. Do not spoil the wonder with haste!’”

2 •Gimli, Dangerous Dwarf Dwarven
Companion • Dwarf
6 Strength
3 Vitality
6 Resistance
Damage +1.
While at a forest site, Gimli is strength +1 and resistance +1.
While you can spot Legolas, Gimli is damage +1.
”’You are beset with dangers, Gimli son of Gloin.’”

Notes:
Although they don’t really work all together that well, I honestly don’t think that had the whole fellowship made it to Mordor that the Ring would have been destroyed.
In fact, it seems that the fellowship breaking was the best thing that happened to get the ring into Mount Doom and destroyed.

So, I broke them up into groups -
Frodo + Sam (with Boromir) heading into Mordor while keeping Frodo from fully slipping into darkness.
Merry + Pippin keep up support for the others through song, and are very effective themselves, but make for a strong duo.
Aragorn + Gandalf are working to have Aragorn reclaim the Throne of Gondor. Aragorn can choke decently even with Radagast, which actually makes sense, but is able to keep Gandalf’s strength of spirit up to a limited extent. Meanwhile, Gandalf is able to set up Aragorn’s artifacts and gives their cards a form of toil.
Legolas + Gimli, would probably not be in the same deck, but are useful in each other’s races decks. At any site, each have a furthur damage boost - making Gimli a dangerous foe and Legolas a semi-Dwarf who can shoot.

For Sam, I originally had it wound/exert him to prevent the burden, as this is in general for burdens added by the ring. However, in preventing the burden, it’ll wound the Ring-bearer. And yes, this would be usable with an ARB, although Sam can’t take the ring.

The number of cards to vote for is a bit daunting. Also, are we voting for our three favorite cards, or for our three favorite creators? And I assume participants can vote as well?

Three favorite creators, and yes on participants voting. Thumbs Up

Take your time, I was just shocked that after a week there were NO votes.

Ok so BW is my favourite then AC then DI.

BW your gandalf and gorn rock. And gimli and legolas are cool as well.

AC what the point in your gandalfs first bit of gametext? It just plays a companion like you could do anyway for no reward....

I like you 5 culture thing though. Excellent nine walkers synergy.

Well done all though, who took the time to submit to such a lengthy contest. Thumbs Up
