Assaulters of Amon Lanc
Minion • Orc
Strength: 12
Vitality: 3
Site: 7
Hunter 1.
While you can spot 2 other Orcs, this minion is fierce.
While at a mountain, this minion is strength +2.
While at a forest, this minion is strength -2.
“‘...they were many and fierce, but they came from over the mountains, and were unused to woods.’”
nice!
 • An Evil Power
Condition • Support Area
To play, spot 2 minions.
Each time the fellowship moves to a forest site, you may take a minion from your discard pile into hand.
“Their own accounts speak of...a shadow that fell on the forest, so that it became darkened and its new name was Mirkwood.”
not goblin hordes! at least it is unique. why does this card benefit from forests and the above one gets hurt by them?
 • Dark Things
Condition • Support Area
While you can spot a mountain and a forest in the current region, each minion gains hunter 1 (or hunter 2 if that minion is a tracker).
“‘...we were drawing nigh to Dol Guldur, and that is still a very evil place; we do not go that way.’”

Most Shadow cards benefit from forests and/or mountains (from being in the forest of Mirkwood and the mountain that is Dol Guldur). I wanted the Assaulters of Amon Lanc to be a little more rare in that it ONLY benefitted from mountains and actually got penalized when at a forest. It’s the exception ather than the norm for . And besides, it fits the lore perfectly. |

Sweet! A balanced -version of Goblin Hordes!

Almost a -cost, but I think it’s balanced. |

Now, how about a card to ensure you’ve got the forest/mountain sites you need? Enter this card:
•Shadowed Height
Condition • Support Area
To play, spot a minion.
Each time you play a minion, add a token here.
Shadow: Remove 3 tokens from here and spot a minion to replace the fellowship’s current site with a site from your adventure deck (and add if that site has the same keyword as the site you replaced).
“‘In the midst upon a stony height stands Dol Guldur, where long the hidden Enemy had his dwelling. We fear that now it is inhabited again, and with power sevenfold.’” |

Why not go all the way and make it like unforgiving depths, ie. replace the current site with a forest or mountain site from your adventure deck, then add if it replaced a forest or mountain. Or, to make it really interesting, you could make it replace the sites only with forests/mountains, and add if it replaced the other one.

Wow, a lot of varience over what to do with Shadowed Height. Hmmm...I’ll have to think on this.
In the meantime, enjoy what is probably the last Shadow cards of the set. They’re both pretty unusual, for very different reasons, but that’s what makes them FUN, right? Enjoy!
•Fastness of Southern Mirkwood
Condition • Support Area
To play, spot a minion.
Skirmish: Discard a card from hand to make a minion strength +1 (or +2 if the discarded card is a Tree).
“‘It is clad in a forest of dark fir, where the trees strive one against another and their branches rot and wither.’”
Remember, there are several Tree minions in this set, and there will be a handful more in future sets, so it’s not quite as hard to discard Trees as you might think.
•Dark and Drear
Condition
Weather. To play, spot 2 minions (or Sauron). Plays on a site.
This site cannot be replaced.
While you can spot a tracker, Free Peoples characters at this site lose all hunter bonuses and cannot gain hunter bonuses.
