Ok, as I promised, HASTE! SO buckle up, ’cause next one in line isssss: CarpeGuitarrem!
•Sicilian Logic
Condition • Support Area
If Vizzini knows that iocaine comes from Australia, he may not be assigned to skirmish a character in front of the Shadow player.
If Wesley suspects that Vizzini knows about the origin of iocaine powder, Vizzini may not be assigned to skirmish a character in front of the Free Peoples player.
"You have a truly dizzying intellect."
R
Comments: Bizarre card! However, meets the requirements, does something useful, and it’s fun, so what could I possibly hold against it?
Grade: 10
•Wesley, Dread Pirate Robert
Companion • Dread Pirate Robert
Strength: 8
Vitality: 4
Resistance: 10
Valiant. Dread Pirate. Black-Masked.
Regroup: Exert Wesley to make Inigo a Dread Pirate.
"Have you ever considered piracy?
R
Comments: Cool enough, although I’m not sure it had to be a rare...
Grade: 9.5
Are There Rocks Ahead?
Event • Maneuver
Spot Inigo and a giant to annoy the heck out of Vizzini.
"If there are, we’ll all be dead!"
U
Comments: Well, almost all LotR cards are direct quotes, but they don’t come between quotation marks, so no need for having those on the title. Also, as I said, although the card makes you laugh, players would want their cards to actually DO something, even if it’s in a funnier or weird way, and this card really does nothing, and it’s UNCOMMON!
Grade: 4.0
Stop Rhyming, and I Really Mean It!
Event • Skirmish
Exert Inigo and spot a giant to really annoy the heck out of Vizzini.
"Does anybody want a peanut?"
U
Comments: Same as above... Too bad, I liked the opener very much!
Grade: 4.0
It’s Covered in Chocolate
Event • Fellowship
Spot Miracle Max to play a Miracle Pill from your draw deck. That pill gains chocolate-covered until the end of the turn.
"Helps it go down easier."
U
Comments: Well, ALMOST as the ones above, despite the fact that Miracle Max could be useful, and so could the pills, and being chocolate-covered! Definitely better!
Grade: 8.0
I Am not Left-Handed
Event • Response
If Inigo starts fighting with his left hand, exert Wesley to allow him to skirmish with his right hand.
"I have something...I must tell you..."
C
Comments: Again, although funny and inventive, game-wise, it does nothing... At least this time it’s a common.
Grade: 4.3
He Will Come for Me
Event • Maneuver
Exert Buttercup to make her spurn the Evil Prince until the regroup phase.
Buttercup’s faith in Wesley was unwavering.
C
Comments: Same as above.
Grade: 4.3
You Killed My Father
Event • Skirmish
Spot Inigo (the good guy) and a bad guy with six fingers on his right hand to make Inigo strength +3 while skirmishing that bad guy.
"Prepare to die."
C
Comments: This one, though, could find some uses, should there be minions with too many fingers, while not being ofensive to six-fingered people at all. Good one, around such a delicate issue! Too bad there’s an error at the title!
Grade: 8.5
[?]•Sauron, Lord of the Variables
Minion • Maia
Strength: X
Vitality: Y
Site: Z
When you play Sauron, you may exert any number of minions. For each minion exerted, Sauron is twilight cost -V.
"Muahaha...look upon my algebra books, ye mortals, and DESPAIR!!"
P
Comments: Unplayable card... The minions you exerted could’ve gone into an equation, and you could get the results for X, Y, Z and V, and THAT would’ve made him soooo cool! As it is, it’s not playable.
Grade: 5.0
What Game is This??
Event • Combat
Tap an unbound companion: Add .
"Man, you are just shamelessly pandering to Felipe Musco’s M:TG-ness."
???
Comments: I had a good laugh at the lore on this one, I’ll give you that! And even if the wording is all wrong (for LotR, anyway, I did get the joke), it IS actually playable! Combat can be deduced to be skirmish without problems, and tapping a card does nothing to the game state, but there’s no rule that forbids you to do so! REALLY cool one! Small problem with the rarity thing, as noted in previous submissions. ONE "?" would’ve been GREAT, three is too many to fit in a card.
Grade: 9.0
•Sir No-Subtitle,
Companion • Man
Strength: 7
Vitality: 3
Resistance: 9
Each minion without a subtitle is strength +1.
Skirmish: Add a threat to wound a minion with a subtitle twice.
"Die, foul subtitled minions!!"
U
Comments: I’ll let native americnas help out on this one, but I’m not sure "subtitle" has this other meaning in English... For now, assuming it has, COOL! And it’s even balanced, due to raising the "generic" minions’ strength! But perhaps his skirmish ability is too powerful, what with having no limit and all...
Grade: 9.0
Unhate [Unsauron]
Unevent
Unmaneuver: Unexert an Un orc to unwound a companion (except the unRing-bearer).
Orcs are unfilled with love only for their foes, but for all that unlives.
U
Comments: Cool one! Is this one based in Atinlay Igpay? Nice job!
Grade: 9.0
•X-Lister of Decipher [Decipher]
Minion • X-Lister
Strength: None
Vitality: None
Site: 0
Any Phase: X-list a Free Peoples card.
"Oh, so you think your new deck is so great, huh?"
U
Comments: As I said before, careful with "new" cultures. This one, again, is fine. However, "None" wouldn’t fit in a symbol, and Vitality 0 automatically kills him, so he should either be a condition, or have one vitality. Also, he should read "...Free Peoples card for the remainder of the game". Great idea, too many issues. Also, too powerful to be U, should be R or R+ (or maybe even a new, greater rarity).
Grade: 6.0
•The One Ring, the Drooling Ring
Strength: +1
Response: If the ring-bearer is about to take a wound in a skirmish, he or she puts on The One Ring until the regroup phase.
While wearing The One Ring, each time bearer is about to take a wound, he or she drools on a minion instead.
The Ring’s greatest strength lay in an unexpected place...
C
Comments: Too strong. I liked the pun with the title, but then again, it basically prevents all wounds to the R-b, being COMMON. TOOOOO broken!
Grade: 5.0
The Generic Pump [Generic]
Event • Skirmish
Make any companion strength +2 (or +4 if that companion meets a generic requirement).
"Couldn’t you at least try to make an interesting card?"
C
Comments: Lacks an explanation as "generic requirements is any requirement for a pump ever made for the game". Other than that, COOL!
Grade: 8.0
The Incredibly Blah Card [Blah]
Event • Never
Do nothing to do nothing.
"Did you actually think I’d bother with lore?"
C
Comments: Does nothing. ’nough said.
Grade: 3.0
As a general note, I think CG didn’t quite get the idea behind the challenge, which is making "parody" CARDS. This means, they must abide by the general card rules as to card space, phases of the game, these things. Also, although having a "dead" ability on a fun card is not all bad, the card MUST do AT LEAST something that matters to the game, otherwise, why would anyone want to use them? Well, better luck next time, CG!

Ok, next one on the line is Turin06. Unfortunately, he didn’t quite grasp the concept of this challenge, and ended up making a lot of dead cards. As I said before, remember, guys, when you’re required to make a card, it’s a card to be USED in the game! What good is a card that does nothing inside the game? Would YOU play such a card?
Inconceivable!!! [Vizzini and the gang]
Event • Response
When someone does something, shout "Inconceivable!". If this does not make sense in conection to what just happened you may heal a companion.
"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means"
??R?
Comments: Great opener! I just made some slight changes to it, making it more likely what you meant by it, I suppose. Also, "when someone" is a little too easy to use, maybe "when the Shadow Player does something". Great lore, and great cost, too, since it’s a splashable card with no spotting requirements and usable in any phase.
Grade: 9.5
HIT IT WITH THE ROCK! [Vizzini and the Gang]
Event • Skirmish
Hit your opponent with a rock.
"If it took you until the game text to work out the use of this card then I pity you"
??R?
Comments: I’m not that confortable with fully capitalized card titles, as I’m not sure it passes the right idea, aside from hogging too much card space. Exclamation marks, on the other hand, are a totally different matter. Also, I in no way condone violence, as I’m sure Decipher doesn’t, so the game text of this card is simply ABSURD! Sorry.
Grade: 0
• Warthog-Faced Buffon [Ugly People]
Minion • Um well......I’m not really sure
Str:5
Vit:1
Site:9
To play this minion you must say "Ugggh what is that thing?" and drop it onto the table from a great hight.
This minion cannot do anything. When it is discarded every player must laugh at it.
"Disclaimer: Turin06 would like to state that the views expressed in this card are not his own and that he is sure there are many very beautiful buffon’s and some very intelligent warthogs"
??R?
Comments: Again, in no way should a card game, meant for fun, condone any kind of discrimination, so "Ugly People" is not an acceptable culture. Also, a card that does nothig at all is not that appealing to the public. Last, but not least, that minion type would NEVER fit in the space meant for it. I’m very disappointed by this card, because it ends up as a card that does nothing BUT promoting discrimination (although the flavor text DOES save it A LITTLE).
Grade: 2.5
Brute Squad [Ugly People]
Minion • Brute
Str:15
Vit:4
Site:5
Damage +3 Fierce
If something intelligent or remotely humorous is happening while this minion is in play it cannot skirmish.
"You are the Brute Squad!!"
??C?
Comments: I grasp the idea, but perhaps you could it cost VERY little, and then make it, like, not able to skirmish if the Free Peoples player can make the Shadow player (or any other person watching the game) laugh before the assignment phase. Right now, it’s a little... "clunky". Also, again, that culture is INCONCEIVABLE!
Grade: 4.0
[X] Mostly Dead [Heroes]
Event • Response
[X] is your favourite number.
If your Ringbearer has just died you may decide that this is unfair and remove all wounds and burdens from the ringbearer and play on pretending nothing happened.
"He’s not dead, he’s mostly dead"
??R?
Comments: Too powerful. First, it needs a REAL cost, even a joke one, like: "[X] is the number of minions ganging up on the Ring-bearer". As it is, it’s just too powerful to be THAT arbitrary. Then, it should save the R-b’s life, not COMPLETELY CLEAR HIM! Unless it said something like: "The Fellowship must move again, the Shadow player may draw 8 cards after reconciling, and may take up to [X] Shadow cards from the discard pile into hand at the beggining of the next Shadow phase". It would still be absurdly powerful, specially for a site 9 trick, but it would also give the Shadow player a chance if this kicked in, say, in site 6-7. Not to mention the impact of this card on solo strategies! With 3 copies in hand, you could go EASILY from 6-9. Heck, ONE copy could wreck the game!
Grade: 6.0
Is this a Kissing Book?
Event • Fellowship
If Aragorn and Arwen are both in play and their cards are next to each other move them so they are not. We don’t want any of that thank you!!
"Oooooooh that’s icky"
??R?
Comments: Another card that’s funny, but does not do anything. Would you play it in your deck?Maybe if it was a Shadow card, and was something like:
"Event • Assignment
If Aragorn and Arwen are both in play and their cards are next to each other, the Free Peoples player may only assign one of them to skirmish until the end of the turn".
Grade: 5.0
[10] The Cliffs of Insanity [Site]
A really really really big cliff While at this site every player must laugh in an insane fashion. If any player stops he or she loses the game.
??U?
Comments: Absurd. Cool idea, but needs some other penalty, like: "the first player to stop must discard his or her hand".
Grade: 7.0
[-5] I... am not left-handed! [Vizzini and the Gang]
Event • Exactly 5 Seconds into the skirmish phase. Not before, Not after
If either player is holding their hand in their left hand they may pass their hand over into their right hand and play with their hand in that hand for as long as that hand does not get strained as hands are won’t to do if said hand has a weak wrist.
"Is the word hand starting to sound weird to you?"
??C?
Comments: I loved the timing for the event, but it should say so in the game text. As I said, that would NEVER fit into that space in an actual card... And, also, it does nothing... How about a penalty for holding their cards with only one hand? As it is, useless... And, an event that removes twilight by THAT amount, with NO requirement? Nope, no good. Almost useful, though, considering this part as the important one, and the game text as a bonus.
Grade: 6.0
Get off My Land!!!!!
Event • Response
If your opponent is about to take control of a site you may shout "Get off my land!!!!" and whack them with a stick to prevent that.
"Note to self: Get a bigger sitck"
??U?
Comments: It should read "take control of one of your sites in the adventure path", and whacking people with a stick is not acceptable. Other than that (which takes out a lot of points, surely), really cool! I’d love to see a game with this and Inconceivable in the same deck!
Grade: 4.0
Look a Racoon [I’m gunna say ]
Event • Response
Play whenever you feel like it.
Shout "Look a Racoon" and point to a space behind your opponent. During the time your opponent spends looking behind him for the racoon do whatever you like. Seriously, go nuts.
"Serious man I saw it... No I don’t know where your Witch-King has gone"
??C?
Comments: That culture would never be created, unlike the other ones. Too specific... Other than that, I simply LOVED this card! Best one yet! ALthough, it lacks an explanation like (stealing from an opponent or otherwise damaging his cards is completely forbidden, always). Too "dangerous" as it is... Specially with the suggestion the lore gives...
Grade: 8.0
What Discard Pile [Im gunna go with again]
Condition • Support Area
At any point in the game when your opponent has their back turned (like while looking for racoons for instance) you may shuffle your discard pile into your draw deck.
"I never had a discard pile... What are you talking about man? Stop with the third degree already!"
??R?
Comments: Same culture problem. Other than that, mostly fine. Very cool card!
Grade: 9.5
David Wenham has a Biiiiiiiiiig Nose
Event • Response
Play when your opponent is about to do something annoying like kill off your best companion, or discard your conditions, or eat your sandwich.
Point to a Faramir in your Fellowship and have a lengthy conversation about how big David Wenham’s nose is. Hopefully, by the time you’ve finished, they will have forgotten about your companions, conditions or sandwich.
"I heard it has it’s own gravity"
??R?
Comments: Now, this one does not have the same issue with discrimination, as it’s talking about a public person, not to mention it’s not offensive to your opponent, AND it does no punish someone over a physical problem (What? You think David Wenham cares?).
Grade: 10
Guess Who [Any shadow culture really]
Event • Shadow
Pick a minion in your hand. Don’t show it to your opponent. They play "Five Questions" with which to work out what minion it is. If they get it right, they get a pat on the head. If they get it wrong they get a pat on the head.
"Well that was pointless"
??U?
Comments: That culture COULD be created, in a sense that it would be a "generic" card. Too bad it ended up as another one of those "do nothing" cards, it could’ve been great!
Grade: 5.5
• Frodo, Bearer of Beautiful Eyes
Companion • Hobbit
Str:3
Vit:4
Ringed Resistance:10
Frodo cannot skirmish, take wounds and burdens may not be added.
"The eyes... Their so big... And blue... And beautiful"
??R?
Comments: Can I say overpowered? Nothing more to add, really, but that’s about what it takes to almost 0 this card, considering this in play...
Grade: 4.0
• Gandalf, Speaker of Monologues
Companion • Wizard
Str:8
Vit:4
Res:8
Fellowship: Exert this companion to give an exciting account of everything that has happened in the game so far whilst gazing off into the distance. If your opponent is still listening at the end of the monologue you may heal 2 companions. If they are not listening add a burden (or two burdens if they have left the table to make themselves a sandwich)
"The veiling shadow that glowers in the East takes shape. Sauron will suffer no rival. From the summit of Barad-dur his eye watches ceaselessly. But he is not so mighty yet that he is above fear. Doubt ever gnaws at him. The rumor has reached him. The heir of Numenor still lives. Sauron fears you, Aragorn. He fears what you may become. And so he will strike hard and fast at the world of Men. He will use his puppet Saruman to destroy Rohan. War is coming. Rohan must defend itself, and therein lies our first challenge, for Rohan is weak and ready to fall. The King’s mind is enslaved; it’s an old device of Saruman’s. His hold over King Theoden is now very strong. Sauron and Saruman are tightening the noose. But, for all their cunning, we have one advantage. The Ring remains hidden. And that we should seek to destroy it has not yet entered their darkest dreams. And so the weapon of the Enemy is moving towards Mordor in the hands of a Hobbit. Each day brings it closer to the fires of Mount Doom. We must trust now in Frodo. Everything depends now upon speed and upon the secrecy of his quest. Do not regret your decision to leave him. Frodo must finish this task alone…….And all in one breath"
??R?
Comments: Too big of a lore, considering card space. Could be reduced and still grasp the concept, though. However, it’s a lose-lose card, since the Shadow player would ALWAYS stand up. Perhaps switch the effects?
Grade: 8.0
[?] Ending Upon Ending [?]
Event • The End of the Game
If the game has just finished you may take all the characters that you own and act out little endings for each of them. You know just to tie up all the loose ends. To make Middle earth last as long as possible and to strain those bladders to breaking point. When you have finished this each player must cry for a year until the Special Extended Edition of the game they just played comes out and they can feast on a few more snippets of LOTR TCG magic.
"I can’t believe it’s all over……………….until the Hobbit that is…………..and the new version released a few years later which is the same but with a different documentary………..and then there will be the anniversary versions which won’t be any different as films but will of course feature lovely new packaging Ooooooooh"
??R?
Comments: Too useless, but funny notheless!
Grade: 5.0
FINAL GRADE: 5.875
As I said before, just a lack of grasping the concept by its horns, but Turin06 is still a powerful Contestant in my book. And because of stuff like this that I decided to reset the score with each Elimination Challenge... Also, sorry, Turin, no gp for you this time! Better luck next round! |

As far as I’m concerned, the only one left is bobtheorc, which will have his rating posted tomorrow, so stay tuned for the resurrection of the tournament, with a fresh new challenge this sunday! And Competitors who were out until now, you can still take place in the Contest by submitting the cards for the third challenge, since the elimination for the round is pretty much set on Gagnut, unless HE gets back into the tournament as well. Any other Contestant who do not submit the cards for the third challenge as well will be considered as having dropped out of the Contest altogether. |

Yes. After the round, you’ll all be allowed to contest the grading on one of your cards (give it your best shot!) (btw, sop is an exception, as I made a mistake and had graded his card slightly lower than I should have, and he pointed it out so I could correct it from then on, so he’s still allowed to contest a card’s grade). AFTER that, I’m posting the cumulative score so far, as well as the amount of gp earned by each Contestant. And yes, the people who took part in the first challenge but missed the second will still be considered competing, but will have 0 for this round. Also, I’ll PM every Contestant who didn’t take part in any of the first 2 challenges, so they can have a last chance joining the last round before the first elimination (I’ll also allow new Contestants, since I’ll be doing this, although they’ll be fairly behind anyway, so no harm done). After the first elimination, anyone with a total score of 0 and no cards submitted will be considered as having dropped out, and willbe excluded from the Contest altogether. And last, but not least, I decided the prize was cool, but little low, so I’ve decided to throw in a surprise for the winner... And I’ve also got a few OTHER surprises in my sleeve, but we’ll see how that turns out. |

I may want to participate again, provided that this round is completely LOTR-based, and don’t have a huge challenge this time. |

Completely LotR? Check.
Not a huge challenge? Hum... Well, if it weren’t a challenge, it wouldn’t be the ULTIMATE designer’s Contest...
But it’s not a BIG, EXHAUSTING challenge like this one. |

I just know that you’re going to come up with a contest I totally LOVE, just after I drop out. I just know it.
I enjoyed reading these parody cards, though. Good job everyone, I’d just like to say. |
