I fully agree. This card does technically have a purpose in the game, and is a parody card. On top of that, you didn’t specify beforehand that burning your opponents fellowship was illegal. And the lore implies that fire extinguishers are permitted, so that would help. And the use of fire-retardant top-loaders would prevent all problems associated with it. BtO’s card introduces an entire new line of card protectors, which boosts the economy. And you wouldn’t want to be dragging the economy down, would you? This card deserves at least an 8, probably a 10. |

As I mentioned before, I liked the joke, and it’s a very cool card. However, I DID said that you’d be crating cards, cards that would be eventually printed, so they must use wordings as the other legal cards (thus, docking points when someone make an error). As I said, it’s NOT acceptable for a card to allow you to, say, burn the foil, promo Gimli of an opponent, worth 100 dollars. This would discourage players to keep on playing the game, due to the risk of having their cards burned, ripped off, torn apart, and etc. This card would actually REPEAL players (I know, so does X-Listing Madril, but you get what I mean...), so sorry, but this is not acceptable. Also, the 2.5 points you got were because of the title and lore alone, since the card, due to it’s effect, would get a 0, normally.

When you play Sauron, you may exert any number of minions. For each minion exerted, Sauron is twilight cost -V.

Comments: Unplayable card... The minions you exerted could’ve gone into an equation, and you could get the results for X, Y, Z and V, and THAT would’ve made him soooo cool! As it is, it’s not playable.
Grade: 4.0
True, an equation would have been cool. But I don’t think it’s any less playable than, say, Wizards of the Coast Technical Service Nightmare (I think that was what it was called)... |

My challenge (Concerning Castamir):
OK OK, i forgot to add a subtitle, but i did become creational in both lore and text...
Cut some points for my mistake, but don’t dismiss the whole card...

I completely agree with Corvus, his card was creative, had a point, and a funny side effect. He missed a subtitle, but I think he shouldn’t be docked all 10 points.
CG, on the other hand, made a mess of his card...and had some points docked for a good reason. The lore for his alone was worth a LOT though, and you COULD make a case from the lore that the intent of the card was to find values for x y and z from your algebra book. |

I’ll be on vacation from College in 3 days, but because of that, I have FIVE tests, and THREE lawsuits to take care of until Wednesday, that’s why I couldn’t post the new challenge on Sunday. Really sorry about that. Hopefully, it’ll be posted as soon as Wednesday afternoon (GMT -3 here), and because of that, all of you will have extra time to go through it.
Now, back to business.
After thinking it through, I’ve decided to raise both bto’s grade and CG’s grade by 1, by the same grounds: since I told you guys to study Unglued and Unhinged, the parody sets os MTG, you just assumed you could make something close to it, but there IS one problem... As I said before, the cards you’re designing are supposed to be REAL cards, so, they need proper formatting, plausible game text, and, most of all, to BE ABLE TO BE PLAYED. Unglued and Unhinged, although having had some tournaments around them, are NOT tournament-legal in ANY format AT ALL, thus, having those crazy abilities. These cards, on the otherhand, WERE supposed to be tournament-legal, but since it IS an understandable mistake, I’ll make your challenges partially procedent, so each one of you gets an extra point.
To NBarden: I took your first comment as sort of a pledge for bto’s card, so that makes for your ONE pledge as spectator, thank you, but refrain from arguing about all cards. As I said before, as spectator, you’re ABSOLUTELY welcome to challenge my grading, but by the same rules as the Contestants (except being able to choose a card from anyone).
To corvus: Sorry, but this is supposed to be the ULTIMATE Contest, so it’s mandatory that you create your cards with proper care, or take the consequences. Not submitting a subtitle is NOT reason enough to 0 a card, mind all of you! For instance, a card named The Witch-King is TOTALLY fine in my book. However, by not submitting a subtitle, corvus accidentaly submited an EXISTING card already, so I can’t consider it for the sake of rating, after all, it’s not that much trouble to type your title in the search obx to see if anything comes up. Overruled. |

Don’t worry, I’m actually glad you decided to barge in. And also, if you took the time to read the rest of the Contest, you might as well know by now that, if you’re interested, you can join the Contest by taking part in the next Challenge, and "paying" the entry fee, there’s still time to do it. |
