How is that a terrible infinite loop? For a start the freeps has to be using MOW which isnt a hugely popular choice unless your playing elven telepathy old school style, but besides that point you wouldnt use his game text on the turn you faced Tom and William if the shadow was lucky enough to get them both out. It would be your own fault if you did you deserve it! Surely an infinite loops is one that is completely in your control i.e. the evil men doesnt rely on a specific companion triggering his gametext, not one based upon a huge set of circmustances that need to fall into place and rely on the freeps stupidity?
Im voting for SoP. AC’s cards are sweet but a bit too serious. They are quality and work awesomely but i feel SoP captured the aspects of the trolls better. Needs formatting better and you seem to like the ’choose one of the following’ thing FAR too much but they tied into the book better.
Very tough call though. 6 rocking trolls. |

The loop works like this...
You have Gandalf, MOW in your Freeps. You have Bert and Tom ready to play. You use Gandalf to put three Freeps cards on top of your deck. You then exert Bert to make a troll strength +2, and exert Tom for his ability. You reveal the top three cards of your draw deck, which will be Freeps. You heal three trolls, i.e. Bert and Tom and either one of those two again, or another troll you’ve played. Wash, rinse, repeat. Infinite strength, fully healed trolls. And that’s for only   . A pretty nice bargain, if you ask me. |

| I get what happens in the loop with the healing and the exerting its obvious once you had pointed it out , but you cant be in control of gandalf and the trolls. So what do you mean? |

Okay, I think that the Gandalf MoW part doesn’t help at all since if you do it on your turn then you’ll just draw those cards again. However, if by chance your top three cards happen to be Freeps, then yes you’ve got infinite strength from SoP’s trolls and you can also exhaust every companion skirmishing trolls, and play every  possession from your draw deck or discard pile.
The scarier thing to me is that if you play SoP’s Tom at Ettenmoors, it’s practically game over for the Freeps Player if there are even just 2 Freeps cards in the top 3 cards of your deck. Simply exert Tom to make strength +2, and then exert him to heal himself twice. Repeat until your opponent surrenders.

Yeah thats my point exactly AC, it doesnt matter about gandalf MOW cos he aint a shadow character so what CG is suggesting is like i said not likely unless the freeps is using him and then its their own fault for using his text. So its not an infinite loop.
But i do see your point that it IS a loop if the top 3 happen to be freeps by coincidence. Thats unfortunate but what playtesting is all about, kudos to CG for catching the potential even if it was slightly out, but i wouldnt penalise SoP for that cos theyre still cool cards. If you have 6 companions and a skulker, broken in defeat does the same. He cant think of everything and every card that exists before he makes his DC’s.
Ettenmoors, well thats is a bit of a bugger. Hmmm... Still the cards will never be made so hey ho. Yours were really class though AC. |

SoP’s problem can be easily avoided by making the removing part of the cost instead of the effect - then it can’t be infinite unless you can also add infinite twilight.
Nevertheless, the theme and synergy of AC’s cards makes me want to vote for him. Also I like how his trolls increase in strength and twilight by 1 each time as you go down the list! So, AC.
