Now, a few cards revolving around The Balrog’s battle with Gandalf, especially the aftermath of said battle. There are three cards, but don’t get TOO excited: two of them are reprints. But they’re cards I can’t imagine Ol’ Balgy being without, so I couldn’t bring myself to leave them out. Anyway, enjoy!
Final Cry (reprint)
Event • Response
If a skirmish involving The Balrog bearing Whip of Many Thongs is about to end, wound a companion in that skirmish twice.
“He staggered and fell, grasped vainly at the stone, and slid into the abyss. ‘Fly, you fools!’ he cried, and was gone.”
Must Do Without Hope (reprint)
Event • Maneuver
Exert The Balrog to add a burden.
“The fires went out, and blank darkness fell. The Company stood rooted with horror staring into the pit.”
Our Grief Is Great
Event • Regroup
Exert The Balrog twice (or spot 4 minions) to add a burden for each unique companion you can spot in the dead pile.
“Frodo heard Sam at his side weeping, and then he found that he himself was weeping as he ran. Doom, doom, doom the drum-beats rolled behind, mournful now and slow; doom!” |

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!
Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North! |

Nice id say exert him twice though as its a really powerful potential card. |

I would make it exert him twice and raise the cost to . |
I had to put something here. |

Well, now that my last card for lem0n’s Balrog contest is up, I can finally "spoil" it here as well. It’s decent on its own, but paired with the burden-adding cards in the last posting, it’s killer. Enjoy!
Dread Was In His Eyes
Event • Maneuver
Exert The Balrog to exert a companion with resistance 4 or less (or wound that companion if it is a Dwarf). You may take the next maneuver action.
“‘Indeed I saw upon the bridge that which haunts our darkest dreams. I saw Durin’s Bane.’”
That’s not all Ol’ Balgy can do with those burdens, though....
Dark As A Cloud
Event • Skirmish
Spot The Balrog to remove X burdens (limit 3). For each burden removed in this way, add and make The Balrog strength +3.
“...it was like a great shadow, in the middle of which was a dark form, of man-shape maybe, yet greater; and a power and terror seemed to be in it and to go before it.” |

Well not the last but im sure you wont have planned what i have planned.

Nice.
Dark As A Cloud
Event • Skirmish
Spot The Balrog and remove X burdens (limit 3) to add (X) and make The Balrog strength +2 for each burden removed in this way.
“...it was like a great shadow, in the middle of which was a dark form, of man-shape maybe, yet greater; and a power and terror seemed to be in it and to go before it.”
Hmmm not good enough bonus for removal of 3 burdens. Look at whatever means for orcs. Thats +6 for 2 burdens and adding 3 in the skirmish aint that useful. Nice idea but up the benefit. And once again you dont bold and bracket the term X ever.

I’ll up the benefit to and +3 per burden. Good?
The reason I keep doing things like "(X)" is because it’s representing twilight, and there is unfortunately no icon here for that like there is for , , , etc. If I just do "X", it looks like I left out an intended "burdens" or "threats" or something afterwards. |

Interesting! I’d love to be packing 4 of these. Durin’s Bane, indeed!
