I think he’s a borderline 5, but I guess he’s okay.

10 resistance for Rock Lee now! This is good for either potential bearer, though. Thumbs Up

Wow. It’s balanced. In fact, I might even recommend lowering the cost to 2. Again, borderline.

You ever have a really great idea that just comes out of the blue and smacks you in the face?

Well, I had one of those. Unforunately, it was for a culutre I hadn’t started yet.

So, I’m suspending my current efforts in Might Guy’s team, and moving on to something else for now.

What is that something, do you ask?

Why, some bad guys! The [Sound] Ninja are here!

Some background info on them: The Sound Ninja are from their own Hidden Village, Otogakure. Headed by a genius Ninja, Orochimaru, the Sound village has not been openly violent towards Konoha. At least, not until recently, when Orochimaru made a false alliance with the Sand village, and both attacked Konoha during the Chuunin exams (physical and mental exams students must take to advance from Genin level to Chuunin level). Orochimaru betrayed the Sand, and killed their leader. He went on to cause the death of (not technically kill...) the Third Hokage of Konoha.

Okay, let’s start with the biggest baddie, Oro himself!

11 *Orochimaru, Sannin of the Snakes [Sound]
Minion * S-Class Ninja
Strength: 16
Vitality: 5
Site: 6
Fierce.
You do not have to pay the chakra cost for [Sound] jutsu.
Each unbound companion is resistance -1 for each [Sound] token you can spot.
Response: If Orochimaru wins a skirmish, exert each companion with resistance 3 or less.
"I am the most powerful Ninja in the world. Even without my arms, I can still defeat both of you."

Okay, here’s Orochimaru’s background. He was originally a Konoha ninja; he was part of a team, just like any other ninja. His team leader was the future Third Hokage.

The Third recognized Orochimaru’s lust for power and dark ambitions, but did nothing about it. Konoha was in a time of war, and Orochimaru was a genius filled with potential.

Orochimaru’s greatest ambition is to be the strongest ninja that ever was; and attempts to do this by learning every ninja technique. He also looks for ways to be immortal and improve his own body. For these ends, he began abducting Konoha ninja and performing strange experiments upon them, including giving them a Curse Seal that grants great power, but also eats away at the user’s body.

The Third found out about Orochimaru’s experiments, and Orochimaru fled from Konoha, only to join the secret orgainization, Akatsuki (more on them later). He soon defected from that group as well, and started his own village.

He has since learned a path to immortality; once every three years, he can use a technique to transfer his soul to a new body. The new body gradually changes to be more like his original one, but hints of the old remain. For this purpose, he wanted to capture Sasuke Uchiha, to get the Sharingan Eyes in his next body (more on that later, but I’ll tell you why he want’s the eyes; they give the user the ability to duplicate any jutsu).

When he invaded Konoha, he first attacked Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura, but this was only to test Sasuke’s power and inflict him with one of his cursed seals. Then, he proceeded to confront the Third Hokage. Realizing he was outmatched, the Third used a jutsu that killed him, but was meant to seal aay Orochimaru’s soul. The Third, unfortunately, only had enough energy to seal Orochimaru’s arms, forcing him to change bodies sooner than expected, so there is another 3 years before he can posses Sasuke.

He also battles his old teammates, the other two Sannin (legendary ninja), Jaraiya and Tsunade. Even without the use of his arms, he used a jutsu that summoned a giant snake, Manda, to fight with. He can also extend his body to impossible lengths, namely his neck and toungue. He also can have a snake come from his mouth, and that snake can in turn spit forth the legendary sword, Kusanagi.

Eventually, Sasuke leaves Konoha to join Orochimaru. And that’s as far as things have gotten.

Anyways, a few more of Orochimaru’s tricks, just so you have something else to review.

2 *Kusanagi, Grass Halberd [Sound]
Artifact * Hand Weapon
Bearer must be Orochimaru. He is damage +1, and strength +1 for each [Sound] token you can spot.
Shadow: Remove 3 [Sound] tokens to play this possession from your discard pile.

2 Impure World Ressurection [Sound]
Condition * Support Area
Jutsu. Chakra Cost--2
When you play this condition, add 3 [Sound] tokens here.
Shadow: Remove 3 [Sound] tokens from here to play a minion from your discard pile.
"I can control even the first Hokages. How can you hope to defeat me?"

This is one of the techniques that Orochimaru uses to revive the bodies of the First and Second Hokages under his control, and is the primary reason why he defeats the Third. The card may not be that amazing, but with the large token base the [Sound] culture is going to have, 3 tokens for once card will be very nice.

Well, he’s certainly powerful. Just imagine if he had arms! Razz

He’s really nasty...I think ne needs to be a tad more expensive. Think about The Balrog: usually costs at least 12, and has only one more strength. I’d raise the cost here to AT LEAST 10...probably 11 minimum, especially since he reduces chakra costs elsewhere.

I’ll have to see some other token stuff before I fully judge it, but I think it’s balanced enough.

Next up are Orochimaru’s henchmen, the Sound Four (of which there are actually 5).

Anyways, here goes.

4 *Jirobo, The Southern Gate [Sound]
Minion * Missing-Nin
Strength: 9
Vitality: 4
Site: 4
Damage +1.
The Chakra cost of each of your opponent’s jutsu is doubled.
When Jirobo is discarded, you may reinforce a [Sound] token.
Skirmish: Remove a [Sound] token to make Jirobo strength +2.
"Hmph. Nothing left. I guess I’ll have to eat you!"

When Sasuke left Konoha to join Orochimaru, a team of 5 ninja (our Naruto-ized three hunters?) went out to retrieve him. They were met by the Sound Four; Orochimaru’s personal bodyguard and henchmen.

Jirobo was the first of the Four to fight the group, and he posed quite a challenge. To keep the others moving, one of the group detached to fight Jirobo, and was nearly overcome.

Jirobo is the strongest of the Four, but also the slowest. However, he also has the ability to drain away opponent’s chakra, thus the chakra cost ability. He needs to keep ’eating’ chakra to have his power, so the removal of your [Sound] tokens are needed to give him strength. However, he will give a little back when he dies.

Each member of the Four will have something to do with removing/adding or just generally manipulating [sound] tokens.

3 *Kidomaru, The Eastern Gate [Sound]
Minion * Missing-Nin
Strength: 8
Vitality: 3
Site: 4
Fierce. Lurker.
When you play Kidomaru, you may reinforce two [Sound] tokens.
Shadow: Exert Kidomaru and remove a [Sound] token to play a [Sound] jutsu from your draw deck.
"You’ve made this game interesting."

Kidomaru is your not-so-friendly neighborhood spider-man. With six arms, he’s a foe to be reckoned with. He’s the Second member of the Four that confronts the group, and he again takes on one of their number. Kidomaru rarely fights hand-to-hand, preferring to set traps of kunai and summon some spidery friends to do the deed for him. Here’s a few of his tricks:

5 *Summoning Jutsu: Great Spider [Sound]
Condition * Support Area
Jutsu.
Chakra Cost
-- Discard a [Sound] card from hand.
When you play this condition, add 5 [Sound] tokens here. These tokens cannot be reinforced or removed by other cards.

3 *Release! Spider Swarming Jutsu! [Sound]

When you play this condition, add 3 [Sound] tokens here. These tokens cannot be reinforced or removed by other cards.
Shadow: Remove 3 [Sound] tokens from here (or discard this condition) to put a fierce, 8 Strength, 1 Vitality [Sound] Spider minion token into play. That minion cannot take wounds.

1 *Kunai Trap [Sound]

Interesting. How does his Chakra doubling work with Oro? Because as the abilities are written now, Oro’s Chakra negation makes Jirobo much, MUCH better, as it essentially wipes out his drawback. Was that intended?

Just a technical note: I think lurker should be listed first. And MAYBE lower his strength to 7. Looks okay otherwise, though.
