Sorry SoP! Here’s flyer again:
Flyer (This character can only take 1 wound per phase, regardless of its source.)
Which is why the guard does what he does, otherwise this keyword could completely kill you!
By the way, I’m ignoring the uncertainty of the Lord of the Eagles being the same person as Gwaihir.
• Gwaihir, King of All Birds
Companion • Eagle
Str: 8

Flyer.
Gwaihir’s twilight cost is -1 for each Eagle and Wizard you can spot.
Regroup: Exert Gwaihir to play an Eagle from your discard pile.

To play, spot 3 companions.
Gwaihir’s twilight cost is -2 for each Wizard you can spot.
You may play Gwahir any time you could play a regroup event.
When Gwaihir is played, you may discard a minion.
The Lord of the Eagles... had eyes that could... see a rabbit moving on the ground a mile below.

Nice, but it could use some cultural enforcement. I could really see this being splashed in, for example, a deck. |

Elf lvr - is the twilight reduction for the second Gwaihir not enough cultural enforcement? If you really don’t think so, I’ll change it.
Well, since it’s my birthday today, I’m going to spoil some sneak preveiws of later cards, starting with an Eagle from the Battle of the Five Armies:
Swooping Eagle
Companion • Eagle
Str: 6
Vit: 3
Res: 6
Flyer. (This character can take no more than 1 wound per phase)
When this companion is played in the fellowship phase, add .
When you play this companion in the regroup phase, you may remove .
... their talons tore at goblin faces.
H2 C 81
And here are two from the White Council:
• Meneldor, Keen-Eyed Eagle
Companion • Eagle
Str: 7
Vit: 3
Res: 7
Flyer. (This character can take no more than 1 wound per phase)
Meneldor’s twilight cost is -1 for each Eagle you can spot.
You may play Meneldor any time you could play a maneuver event.
When Meneldor is played, you may reveal a Shadow player’s hand.
... though he could not see the people in the trees, he could make out the commotion among the wolves...
H3 U 75
• Landroval, Noble Eagle
Companion • Eagle
Str: 7
Vit: 3
Res: 7
Flyer. (This character can take no more than 1 wound per phase)
Landroval’s twilight cost is -1 for each Eagle you can spot.
Skirmish: Play Landroval from hand to have him replace an unbound character in a skirmish.
... they were proud and strong and noble-hearted.
H3 U 70
Then maybe one other cool card on a similar theme:
[X] Many Stranded Web
Event • Maneuver
Discard Gandalf and spot X Free Peoples cultures to make one companion of each of those cultures strength +X until the regroup phase.
’Great as your affairs may seem to you, they are only a small strand in the great web.’
H3 U 72
There are some fun cards to see where this strategy is going, though there are many things I have yet to reveal...

um combine with Swooping Eagle x4, play all four for nothing, then play him for nothing, a bit broken, make a limit to how far it can go like -2

I agree with him. I know is a little pricey for an 8/4 companion, but I’d certainly pay it if I got to discard a minion, regardless of which culture I was playing.

The wording on that first part seems a bit clumsy. I’d do one of two things: either change it to "When you play this companion, except in the fellowship phase, remove " or make it cost and say "When you play this companion in the fellowship phase, add ". The removed in the regroup phase is a bit much on top of all that...I’d make it , at most.

Works for me. I’d limit the cost reduction to -3 (or even -2) though, so you always have to pay SOMETHING to get him out.

Same note on the twilight reduction. As for the ability, I think it would be better worded "Play this companion from hand to have him replace a companion in a skirmish". I also think that should have some type of cost, like perhaps exerting the companion being replaced, or adding a threat, or SOMETHING.

Again, he’s unique, so you can only do it once, and it only works from your hand, not from the discard pile, which is why I figured it was okay even though it was quite powerful. Do you really think I should change it?
