Finely.

Exert Watcher in the Water to discard a possession borne by a companion.
“Bill the pony gave a wild neigh of fear, and turned tail and dashed away along the lakeside into the darkness.”
Something’s telling me that there needs to be a bit more to it than that. I’d say that the companion’s resistance would play a part in this case (since, perhaps if Bill’s bearer [Sam, in this case] was hardier, then that vigilance would have calmed Bill). Maybe target a companion with resistance 4 or less? |
Riddle 9
When I came to Abraham I let him live just a moment longer. When I came to Moses I saved his life more than once. But the salmon... I regret to say I had a hand in its death.

I would make it resistance 3 or less. |
I had to put something here. |

Here’s a couple event to support the Watcher and its tentacles. Enjoy!

4 is good. I don’t think it needs to be 3. If everyone else disagrees with me, though....

Great. Then let’s get to a couple conditons. Enjoy!
Rending and Crashing
Condition • Support Area
Skirmish: Discard this condition to heal a Creature.
Regroup: Exert a Creature and discard this condition to make the move limit -1 (to a minimum of 1) for this turn. The Free Peoples player may wound the Ring-bearer to prevent this.
“Many coiling arms seized the doors on either side, and with horrible strength, swung them round. With a shattering echo they slammed, and all light was lost.”
•Transfixed
Condition • Support Area
Assignment: Exert 2 Creatures (or exert one Creature twice) to transfer this condition from your support area to a companion.
Bearer may not be assigned to a skirmish.
At the end of the turn, this condition’s owner takes this condition back into hand.
“...the horror that seemed to have rooted all but Sam to the ground where they stood....” |

Excellent dual usage. Very nice DI. Cost might be ok to reduce to one.

Should cost 3 as thats really good but really powerful as you effectively get to choose the assignment of a companion every turn. So also definately needs to say unbound companion or not the RB as you could just say oh ill stick the watcher on frodo then and hes dead! Or change it so it says may not be assigned to a skirmish full stop then its balanced. Like the idea though Dain!

misspelled creature. nice! buy maybe should be unique... so you can’t have four and they either kill they’re RB or don’t move

Lurker. Fierce. Hunter 1. Each tentacle is strength +1, damage +1, and enduring.
Response: If a Creature takes a wound (except from losing a skirmish), exert Watcher in the Water to play a tentacle from your hand or discard pile and make the Free Peoples player exert a companion.
Watcher in the Water may not bear possessions and is discarded if not at a marsh or river.
“The others swung round and saw the waters of the lake seething, as if a host of snakes were swimming up from the southern end.”
I would change "Response: If" to "Each time". Other than that he’s pretty good, except that he makes Watcher in the Water, Keeper of Westgate look not-so-great in comparison.
DáinIronfoot wrote: Dark Waters
Event • Maneuver
Reveal Watcher in the Water from hand to make the Free Peoples player add or a threat.
“Before them stretched a dark still lake. Neither sky nor sunset was reflected on its sullen surface. The Sirannon had been dammed and had filled all the valley.”
Nice... except that threats probably won’t help much unless you have more tentacle threat strategies. You could probably just make it add .
DáinIronfoot wrote: A Soft Sound
Event • Shadow or Maneuver
Reveal Watcher in the Water or 2 tentacles from hand to draw a card (or 2 cards if the fellowship is at a marsh).
“...a swish, followed by a plop, as if a fish had disturbed the still surface of the water. Turning quickly they saw ripples, black-edged with shadow in the waning light: great rings were widening outwards from a point far out in the lake. There was a bubbling noise, and then silence.”
Decent.
DáinIronfoot wrote: Accursed Spot
Event • Maneuver
Reveal X Creatures from hand to make the Free Peoples player discard X cards from their hand or the top of their draw deck (limit 3).
“‘I hate this place, too, and I am afraid. I don’t know of what: not of wolves, or the dark behind the doors, but of something else. I am afraid of the pool. Don’t disturb it!’”
Cool.
DáinIronfoot wrote: A Hideous Stench
Condition • Support Area
At the start of each assignment phase, you may spot a minion to play a minion of the same race from hand.
“Twenty others arms came rippling out. The dark water boiled....”
I would really just have it work with creatures instead of working with Goblins too.

Looks balanced, except that I don’t see a way to make people have less resistance.

You should say " Creature" to keep it in line with the rest of your cards. Oh, and "Creature" is misspelled as "Creatute".

I would raise the cost to 4, and prevent the companion from being assigned to a skirmish completely, not just by the FP player.
In conclusion, so far the strategy seems to be way too mixed. You’ve got threats, resistance, RB exerting, and deck-discarding, which does not seem good. I would go for one or maybe two of those strategies.
