Bearer must be a Dwarf. Limit one per bearer.
Bearer may bear 1 additional hand weapon, but may only use the bonuses and game text of one hand weapon per skirmish.
Gimli carried his great battle axe from a padded ring set in the back of a bandolier that criss-crossed his shoulders and was attached to his belt.
Bit of rules minefield here DI. Seems this bearing more than 1 weapon theme is getting a bit complicated. Nice try though.
So you think I should just scrap the idea? Or perhaps make it unique? |

Well as you found with gimli it becomes a phrasing nightmare, i think without the card hand axe you would have been fine but it complicates things. As far as the bandolier goes the "may bear one other weapon" is a nice idea but after then the text goes awry. Id either scrap the card or the entire bearing another weapon idea cos its too hard to phrase. I see what youre getting at its very clear, but D would never have said something like that i dont reckon. Shame it doesnt seem to be quite right as it is a good theme. |

Alright, well I’ll have to figure out what to do with the harness...I may end up just scrapping it. I like things about SoP’s suggested wording, but it completely changes what I was going for.
Ooo, ooo...how about this?
Bandolier Harness
Possession
Bearer must be a Dwarf. Limit 1 per bearer.
At the start of each assignment phase, you may exchange a hand weapon borne by bearer for a hand weapon from your hand.
Gimli carried his great battle axe from a padded ring set in the back of a bandolier that criss-crossed his shoulders and was attached to his belt.
How’s THAT? Powerful for sure, but it can add some serious hand clog, too.
Anyway, I likely won’t be posting much tomorrow, so here’s a couple more possessions and a Dwarf to go with them. Should be able to tide you over. Enjoy!
Dwarven Pipe
Possession • Pipe
Bearer must be a Dwarf.
Fellowship: Exert bearer and discard a pipeweed to draw X cards, where X is the number of pipes you can spot (limit 3).
“And certainly it was from Bree that the art of smoking the genuine weed spread in the recent centuries among Dwarves and such other folk....”
There will be a reappearance of Gimli’s Pipe as well, but not until the next set, The Way Into Mordor.
•Dwarven Cart
Possession • Support Area
To play, spot 2 Dwarves.
Fellowship: Spot no more than 3 cards stacked here to stack a possession here from hand.
Regroup: Add to take a possession from here into hand.
“An odd-looking waggon laden with odd-looking packages rolled into Hobbiton one evening and toiled up the Hill to Bag End.”
Dwarven Escort
Companion • Dwarf
Strength: 5
Vitality: 3
Resistance: 6
Hunter 1.
When this companion is in your starting fellowship and you can spot a Dwarf or Hobbit, this companion’s twilight cost is -1.
When you play this companion (except in your starting fellowship), you may play a possession or tale from your draw deck.
“It was driven by outlandish folk, singing strange songs: dwarves with long beards and deep hoods. A few of them remained at Bag End.” |

Looks nice. Are there Dwarven pipeweeds, too, or just running off Shire ones?

Bad wording on the Fellowship action. Should be "Fellowship: If you cannot spot more than 3 cards here stack a possession here from hand." As it is, they merely have to spot 0, 1, 2, or 3 of the cards that are on there to meet the cost; this wording deals with whether or not it’s possible to spot the cards, not whether or not you do.

Should probably limit the twilight cost to 1 or less on the possession/tale. I like him, though.

Dwarven Escort? Like for a single female that needs accompanying to a night out? Interesting duality of usefulness for either starting or decking. He’s ok.

’One’ should be ’1’. I like it, but I would take out the strength bonus clause allowing you to simply exhange possessions.

What’s the point of a limit of 3? Make it 2 or take it out altogether.

Take out the ’in your starting fellowship bit’, with a text like that and a second ability like his he doesn’t need that restriction. And I don’t like the idea of a fantastic starting companion with an ability that doesn’t work, so I’d actually change the ability or take out the cost reduction.

Interesting... a good way to manage things if you have a Dwarven Axe on your Gimli, a Battle Axe in your hand, and nowhere to replay to...

Another good way to prevent hand clog when you just plain have too many possessions for the dwarves you have out. This stuff would work well with the new Gimli, Opinionated Guide.
