Now Uncle Dáin is looking for a game. Had an exam this morning, so I had to take off work, and I’m looking for a game to come down off the stress. What better way than to play a stressful game? |
Best regards, Dáin, Vice Aftokrator of the Chosen Ones
Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!
Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North! |

Game Result
Shieldmaiden’s Rangers w/ Possessions
vs.
my Noble Leaders w/ Archery
My deck cycled like a dream, and I used Denethor with Trollshaw Forest to play nearly all of my possessions and artifacts at site 3 (and gave out as a result ). I dropped a couple of her companions with my arrows, and Noble Leaders protected my guys. At site 5, I exhausted all of her companions except Faramir, then went untouched through 5 myself because she had no minions to play. At site 6, I dished out 6 archery wounds and won. Good game! |
I had to put something here. |

You must’ve had very few and very, very expensive artifacts/possessions, unless that circumvents the Rule of Four in a way I’m not seeing.
Thanks for the after-action reports, everyone--fun reads, all. |

Ah! Good catch! I’ve never hit upon that combo so early in the game before, and the Rule of 4 completely slipped my mind.
My apologies, Shieldmaiden. |

Shieldmaiden’s / Wounding w/ Swarm
vs.
NK’s Ents and Fleeing Hobbits w/ Ring-Bearer Assault
SM went first since I out bid her. At site 1 she played a single condition Thundering Host then moved on to site 2 leaving me very little twilght to work with 4 to be exact. I played a site that gave me 3 so I had 7 to play with. I played Ulaire Nertea, Dark Horseman and name making her RB eat the skirmish. She played Where Now the Horse and spotted Eowyn making the skirmish Frodo 8 Nertea 9. She also opted to wear the Ring of Doom to make it Frodo 11, Nertea 9. After I saw that see was wearing the ring I played All Veils Removed to boost my Nertea by 5 making this a victory for the Bad Guys. She ate a burden and had to discard Eowyn . And for the fierce skirmish she was force to eat another burden. She stayed after that defeat. It was my turn I played a few pipeweeds and was off to join her at site to where she dropped a few dunlands. I assigned them 2 my hobbits and discarded a pipeweed to cancel 1 of the skirmishes and played Warmed Up a Bit and discarded Pippin, In the Bloom of Health (even though I hadn’t played Gandalf, Greyhame yet to get them back). I exerted my Merry to get my newly discarded pipeweed back into my draw deck. I elected to stay so I could control the site path for a bit more.
Site 3 was a free move for SM as I had no minions to play, and she played a couple of dunlands and a Saruman on me at site 3. Her minions managed to put a few wounds on my Ent Horde and I cancelled the skirmish against Farmer Maggot with yet another discarding of a pipweed, then in the regroup phase I decided to exert Merry again to retrieve the pipeweed and place it back in my draw deck. What was the harm since at a sanctuary. 4 wounds on me that would be healed by the site.
Site 4 got fun. She Played Faramir Wizard’s Pupil and moved again. I played another Ulaire Nertea and had to choose or , I choose . I dropped a Ulaire Enquea, Ringwraith in Twilght, and played a Fell Beast and a ring of Asperity on him. I was able to wound the RB for the ring being Played. During the maneuver phase I played Resistance Becomes Unbearable for yet another exertion on the RB. Time to skirmish she had to assign Ulaire Nertea to Eomer and Enquea was either going on Frodo or Faramir, so faramir got unlucky. Eomer ate a wound and Faramir was overwhelmed. I exerted Ulaire Enquea to wound the RB but SM decided to wear the One-Ring instead so 2 more burdens were added. Since both my minions were fierce (thanks Fell Beast) Eomer had to skirmish Nertea yet again and poor frodo got the strength 14 Enquea. Frodo was Overwhelmed 14-6.
Great Game SM. I just had to post the results, a win at site 4 is a must post.
I must add she was getting pretty awful freep draws seeing she could only play 1 freeps card at each site.
Thanks for the game. |

macheteman’s Cycling w/ Tokens
vs.
my Elvents w/ Ninja Gollum
My deck got off to a slow start, but I reached site 3 with minimal damage. I could only get Gollum early in the game, and he was virtually unscathed at site 3. He used Mumak Rider and Dwarven Warrior and discarded Elven Armaments twice and Her Ladyship once. I used Shadow Between to patch up my wounds, but I arrived at site 6 in pretty bad shape. He lost a couple of Dwarven Warriors, but then healed up nicely at site 6. I took the move to site 7 and only lost Celeborn, and he followed me and lost Dwarven Warrior. I stacked Gollum and Shelob, and he decided to double move to site 8, but I unstacked Mad Thing and then played Her Ladyship from hand. Frodo was overwhelmed 15-5. Good game! |
