NappyKorn’s Noble Leaders w/ Site Control
vs.
my Noble Leaders w/ Archery
To put it lightly, my deck cycled like a dream. I gave him 9 wounds and 3 burdens in region 1, and my fellowship made it to site 3 with only 2 wounds. He put out on the move to site 4, but I dropped 6 archery on him, which exhausted all of his companions and maxed Boromir’s burdens. I had 5 minions out to his 5 companions, so Boromir’s start of skirmish text killed him. Good game! |

macheteman’s Tokens w/ Archery
vs.
my Noble Leaders w/ Archery
Both of our Shadows did well, and we both beat up on the other pretty badly in region 2. He was a hair from being killed (2 burdens from corruption, and every companion exhausted), but I had a poor draw at site 6 and he healed some of his wounds. I made it to site 7 safely, and he followed. I could only play 2 minions, and he handled them easily, but SdA crashed. We called it a draw. Good game! |

NappyKorn’s Men w/ Possessions
vs.
my Three Hunters w/ Wargs
My Free Peoples side set up well, but he gave me a few wounds with Uruks that were beefed with Berserker Torch. I had some good draws in region 2, and I knocked out Erland and Jarnsmid at site 4 with a couple of mounted Orcs. I used my archery to wipe out his 2 Uruks at site 5, and he followed me with his Gandalf Men-turned-Solo Gandalf. I played 2 minions for a total of 16 strength, and he surrendered. Good game! |

NappyKorn’s Pipeweed Hobbits & Ents w/ Twilight Nazgûl
vs.
my "Defender of Free Elves" w/ Site Control
First, a note on our fellowships. NK started with no less than EIGHT companions--four Hobbits and four Ents--thanks to the Merry/Pippin In The Bloom of Health trick (which works wonders with old-school Ents like Ent Horde and Host of Fangorn). His goal was to use Ents armed with Ent Moots to attack and cancel the Hobbits’ skirmishes with pipeweeds like Halfling Leaf.
My fellowship started like classic Elven hunters, with Galadriel, Legolas OtWR, and Orophin, but very early on (I think it was at Site 1, lucky for me) the real centerpiece of my deck hit the table: Aragorn, Defender of Free Peoples. His text--the part, at least--is just beastly: "Skirmish: Remove an token to make a minion skirmishing Aragorn strength -3." So, of course, my deck focuses on getting conditions with tokens and reinforcing them left and right, keeping Aragorn nigh unbeatable to take down the toughest minion that lives through archery and mopping the rest up with my Elves.
Now that we’ve set everything up....
This was a great game, with both of our Shadow sides clobbering the other’s fellowship. He chose to focus on wounding rather than burdens, recognizing that Galadriel (with 11 resistance thanks to having Ring of Rings and getting her Ewer early on) was going to be difficult to corrupt. This was a big problem for me, since even though I was winning many skirmishes against his Nazgûl, he was still able to direct wound Galadriel (especially when I WASN’T able to win). He also forced her to put on the Ring several times, following that up with All Veils Removed for a cheap strength +5 boost. The end result is that Galadriel spent most of the game after the first sanctuary in a state of exhaustion, with me desperately trying to keep NK from pulling off that last direct wound.
Meanwhile, my Dunlendings pounded on his fellowship all throughout region 2 thanks to me controlling a couple sites early and using those to make minions like Dunlending Elder and Hillman Horde huge. I began picking off his Ents by Site 4, either by piling on enough wounds or simply pumping up enough to overwhelm them. We single-moved up to the second sanctuary, moving side-by-side. He dropped down my least favorite site, Steward’s Tomb, keeping me from healing my by-now many wounds at Site 6. This backfired on him, of course, as I had him down to just 2 wounded Ents between my ever-stronger Dunlendings and his Hobbits.
The biggest threat to Galadriel came at Site 7, when I had to throw pretty much everything I had at him to keep a wound off my exhausted Galadriel. Most of my fellowship (which hadn’t grown since the start, as my other Elves simply REFUSED to appear from my deck) was exhausted as well. Fortunately, I had a couple pumps in hand and a good amount of tokens by now, so I was able to fight him off, but MAN...it was close.
I knocked him down to one Ent at Site 7 himself, and with some wounds starting to show up on his Hobbits, his pipeweeds drying up, and a couple minions still on the table, he was forced to stay.
Next turn, I FINALLY got two more Elves out of my deck AND some badly-needed healing. In much better shape, and with a timely Hearth and Hall giving me oodles of new tokens to play with, I was able to ward off the last couple minions he had left and double-move to Site 9.
His deck is very good, and without Aragorn being able to get as huge as he was, he would have easily killed my Ring-bearer off before I ever got out of Region 2. I admittedly had some very good Shadow pulls and was able to get the right minions when I needed them, so I wouldn’t think his Ents would always fall so steadily. Given a different opponent, I think either of us could have wrapped up a win much earlier.
Good game, NK! |

my archery - evil man swarm
vs
AP’s Three Hunters - Warg Riders
ok let’s see how i do at this
I started and played a riddermark tactician, I knew I was in deep trouble when AP killed him at site 2, but I got to site three having taken only injury to Theoden and Eowyn. he pretty much got set up at site 1, and namarie completely killed my last days and goaded to war
anyway we both made it safely to site 3 except for a dead riddermark tactician after that was when problems started for me, although I did get Eomer and 2 sword racks, at site 4 he killed Eowyn, which was when I started hoping for a shadow kill, nothing happened at his move to site 4 and I was successful in my move to site 5 (despite the fact he added 4 burdens with orc miscreant), and on his move to site 5 I played 5 minions on him, but he killed off two in the archery phase and beat everyone else in the skirmish phase, he even denied me my one chance to wound someone, with a crazed hillman from my discard pile with courageous easterling. during my turn however the game cut off and I later conceded to him over PM as he was definitely beating me, as in I had not wounded a single one of his companions.
Good Game AP [gp] |

Shieldmaiden’s Hunters w/ Uruks
vs.
my Three Hunters w/ Wargs
My support areas set up VERY quickly, and I also had some good draws early in the game. I killed around 1 companion every site in region 2. She played 3 or 4 Uruks each site throughout region 2, but I took care of them with Focus and Forth the Three Hunters. I played 4 minions (1 mounted) at site 6 to her 3 companions, and Galadriel was overwhelmed 14-5. Good game! |

macheteman’s Tokens w/ Hybrid Tokens + Archery
vs.
my Three Hunters w/ Wargs
Our Shadows gave the other a good beating throughout regions 1 and 2. I dropped a couple of Dwarven Warriors, but my fellowship wouldn’t set up and he gave me a good pounding. His accursed Nobody Tosses a Dwarf discarded a couple of Wargs, 2 copies of Focus, and few Orcs. We both moved to site 7 with a few wounds apiece, and I only played 1 minion which he handled easily. I moved to site 8 and only took a couple of wounds, and then decided to make the double to 9. He played Mumak Commander and Desert Wind in addition to the Desert Wind already on the table. The Commander killed Legolas, one of the Winds killed Aragorn, and Gimli killed the other Wind, leaving Frodo alive. Good game! |
