I sure hope not.
Until AKiE shows back up, I officially request to take over the character of Ellar. I think Drake volunteered to take Adalard as well, though I wouldn’t mind handling him as well. BW and I have spoken about his general direction with the character.
If CG approves, I think we can write their stuff ourselves and finally move on.
Oh, and we just need a DC from EL, too. |

Silvarin walked apart from the group for a minute, cloack pulled tight against the chill of the mountains. He stood a while, just staring out at the mountains and the setting of the sun. One thing that the growing darkness hadn’t touched.
He let the magic flow out of him, gathering in front of him. A faint outline of a person appeared, shining in blue light. Eventually, the intensity of the light faded, but the person remained. Standing before his brother was Lyon.
Of course, not the real Lyon. Just a wraith, formed by magic. As he moved, his body blurred, and a faint blue outline still surrounded him.
"Brother," began Silvarin, "I know not what to do. These things we’ve been fighting... they go beyond the powers of anything we’ve fought before. The road ahead will be darker than anything we’ve faced before."
"Foolish brother. Lost your faith in magic, have you? Do you fear for your life?"
"I’m not afraid for myself. But for my friends. For the whole world, even. Terrible things will come to pass if this evil continues. My power will not be enough."
"Do you doubt the strength of your friends? They can care for themselves."
"No... I’m just... afraid. I don’t want anyone else I care about to die." Lyon gave a small smile. "I’ve gotten an idea, Lyon. You should follow my friends. Do what you can. Give them warnings of danger. None of them could be defeated, should they not be taken my surpise."
"Silvarin. You speak to me as if I was alive again. Keeping me here for that long would weaken you greatly. Are you sure you want to risk that?"
"Like I said, brother, I care not if I die. Protect my friends. And... I’m sorry that your spirit is all I can call back to this earth. I would give anything to have you alive again, should I have it to give."
"Brother. Your magic can make you quite an idiot sometimes. The dead are meant to be dead. And stay as such. But very well. I will follow after your friends, so long as you can stand to keep me."
The wraith of Lyon’s spirit faded slowly, until Silvarin was standing alone yet again. "Thank you," he said, as a faint blue light flew through the sky, back towards camp.

Awesome, EL!
Alright, if people approve, I’ll do Ellar’s section tonight if I have time, and if not, Monday or Tuesday, since I’ll be gone over the weekend. |

Right. I should have Adelard up sometime soon; should be no later than Wednesday.
Dain, if you think it would help, you could PM me what BW was going for with Adelard’s development so that if he does come back I won’t have screwed him up too bad... |

Like several of the others, Ellar had been quietly contemplating the future by himself for a time...and the past. He did not share quite the unhappy tales others did, but there was one particular event which stuck with him to this day....
The excitement had quickly turned to dread and horror. The golden light that had lit the Lonely Mountain to the north, thought at first to be the Dwarven King forging gold again as of old, had turned out to be something else entirely.
“The dragon is coming or I am a fool!” the grim man shouted. “Cut the bridges! To arms! To arms!”
Nothing short of mass chaos ensued. Trumpets sounded and amid the screams, people rushed to fill every container they could find with water in preparation....
But it was not enough. The dragon swept in, smashing and burning. The grim man led a company of archers and warriors in defense of Esgaroth, but fear overcame them and they deserted him, one by one, diving into the Long Lake to escape the disaster unfolding above Lake-town.
As Ellar was rushed to an escape boat, he saw that only the seemingly fearless leader was left. He drew his bow back, the last arrow fitted to the string, a strange black arrow. The man paused, looking down at his shoulder. Ellar squinted, and it seemed he saw some small bird had settled there. The man actually spoke with the bird, then fired his arrow. Amazingly, the arrow seemed to strike a death blow to the massive dragon, and just as Ellar’s boat pulled away, it fell from the sky and crashed onto the town, destroying what little was left.
Ellar shook his head clear. He did not often think about the fact that he had witnessed one of the most legendary events in the history of Middle-Earth...and one of the most legendary figures caught in the middle of it. Bard had been thought dead, but the mourning for the brave and grim man had only just begun when he reappeared to lead the Lake-men in the Battle of Five Armies, and usher in a bright new age for the men of Esgaroth, starting with their glorious return to Dale.
Ellar hardly remembered his original home in Lake-town, and truly had been too young to really miss it. But he did remember Bard. His fellow townsmen still mourned their great leader, the man so great he was called simply The Bowman.
And it was thanks only to the blood of the Dúnedain that flowed through his veins that Ellar—young at the time but looking barely 20 years older in the 80-some years that had passed since—was able to remember the man so fondly and still be inspired by him today. It was Bard that had begun the kinsmanship with the Dwarves, which had indirectly brought Rorin to Dale’s salvation years later, and Bard’s actions that had inspired Ellar’s study of birds and interest in young Ryle, who he knew was a descendant of The Bowman himself.
Ellar’s biggest regret was never getting to directly meet the man. He would have told him “thank you” from the bottom of his heart, for Ellar had much to thank him for.
For now, he had a fellow Dúnedain to follow...one whose acquaintance he ALSO could attribute to Bard.
He made his way over to Curubethion, and confirmed who he would be following on their journey with a simple nod, which was returned, and a knowing smile.
“Thank you, friend,” Curubethion said. “I was secretly hoping you would join me.”
“Aye, lad,” Rorin said, making his way over with Ryle and giving Ellar a knowing smile of his own. The Dwarf was the only other member present that knew Ellar’s secret heritage...and the reason he and his family had ended up in Esgaroth rather than becoming rangers like Curubethion. “It will be very good to have you along,” the Dwarf added. “Master Ryle here could use another good mentor.”
“You’re more than enough mentor for me, Rorin,” Ryle said with a laugh. “But it will be good to have you with us, Ellar.”

I think all we need now is Adalard, yes? So that’s AD now, correct? |

Hey guys,
Sorry I don’t have Adelard up yet. I may not be able to take him after all, as my job is getting really busy.
If he isn’t up by Sunday, someone else will have to take him.
It’s possible I may even have to drop out of Ectheow too, later. (Not yet, though.)
Sorry. |
