Today, we have a character that I cannot BELIEVE has not yet appeared in LOTR TCG. I know WETA has prepared images that will be used at some point, but I cannot understand why they haven’t been used yet.

He’s coming out in T&D

So here he is: Fredegar "Fatty" Bolger. And boy, are both of his versions interesting. Enjoy!

2Fatty Bolger, Just a Decoy Shire
Ally • Home 2 • Hobbit
Strength: 3
Vitality: 3
Each time the fellowship moves to a dwelling site, you may heal a Hobbit.
Each time the fellowship moves, you may exert Fatty Bolger to discard a Shadow condition or Wraith minion.
Maneuver: If Fatty Bulger is unwounded, you may add 2 and discard him from the game to play a Hobbit companion from your draw deck.
“His task, according to the original plans of the conspirators, was to stay behind and deal with inquisitive folk, and to keep up as long as possible the pretence that Mr. Baggins was still living at Crickhollow.”

Move turn order.

1. Move From
2. Move
3. Move To

Decent card. Somewhat powerful condition discarding, bu I don’t think its too overpowered.

Now if my understanding is correct, his second ability would happen before his first, right? I would think so....

2Fatty Bolger, Cautious Conspirator Shire
Companion • Hobbit
Strength: 3
Vitality: 4
Signet: Frodo
Each time the fellowship moves to a site in region 2 or region 3, exert Fatty Bolger. If you cannot, discard him instead.
Fellowship: If the fellowship is at a sanctuary, you may make Fatty Bolger an ally whose home is that site until the end of the game.
Response: If another Hobbit is about to be discarded or killed and Fatty Bolger is a companion, you may discard him instead.
“‘Still, I am very glad someone is stopping behind, who can tell Gandalf what you have done, when he turns up, as I am sure he will before long.’”

[b]Wouldn’t fit on a card...And what would making him an ally do? Break the rule of 9?

So if I wanted his second ability to trigger BEFORE the first ability, I should make it "moves from a dwelling" instead of the current "moves to a dwelling"?

I wouldn’t call it "break", but essentially, yes. You can use Fatty as a companion for a while, and then turn him into an ally and play someone else in his stead.

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!

Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North!

No. It triggers first already. The first ability is move to, the second is move. According to the turn move sequence, moving triggers before moving to.

Thanks! GP

the condition ability is incredibly good, it would be remove him from the game.

Ah, good catch. I’ll fix that.

Do you think it should be discard or remove him from the game? I don’t remember now which of those I intended.... Think

Maybe this isn’t as usful as I thought....

Basically, it lets you have a "decoy" companion for a while that can soak up bad stuff, especially wounds and exertions in region 1 (before his exerting-every-site kicks in). Then you can keep him around as an ally and play another companion in his place.

However, I think I have a better idea. Let me make some edits to the cards....

To play, spot 2 Hobbits.

much better, maybe make it moves in the regroup phase to make sure that con. ability doesn’t get abused

Great.

Also, if anyone has an idea of more Hobbits to do, let me know. I’m kind of hitting a mental block with which other FotR Hobbits to do (especially companions). Any requests? Razz

He’s decent. Unless you have something special in mind for allies, the second line isn’t too great.

I had planned to do a Master Proudfoot follower in Ambush at Amon Hen, but he just didn’t fit what I had in mind for Shire for that set. Perhaps you could do a card of him. Very Happy
