Well, since it’s my birthday today, I’m going to spoil some sneak preveiws of later cards, starting with an Eagle from the Battle of the Five Armies:
 Swooping Eagle
Companion • Eagle
Str: 6
Vit: 3
Res: 6
Flyer. (This character can take no more than 1 wound per phase)
When this companion is played in the fellowship phase, add .
When you play this companion in the regroup phase, you may remove .
... their talons tore at goblin faces.
H2 C 81
so he can be played in the regroup phase on his own? or are there cards that play him in the regroup
 • Meneldor, Keen-Eyed Eagle
Companion • Eagle
Str: 7
Vit: 3
Res: 7
Flyer. (This character can take no more than 1 wound per phase)
Meneldor’s twilight cost is -1 for each Eagle you can spot.
You may play Meneldor any time you could play a maneuver event.
When Meneldor is played, you may reveal a Shadow player’s hand.
... though he could not see the people in the trees, he could make out the commotion among the wolves...
H3 U 75
does the job
 • Landroval, Noble Eagle
Companion • Eagle
Str: 7
Vit: 3
Res: 7
Flyer. (This character can take no more than 1 wound per phase)
Landroval’s twilight cost is -1 for each Eagle you can spot.
Skirmish: Play Landroval from hand to have him replace a character in a skirmish.
... they were proud and strong and noble-hearted.
H3 U 70
make it unbound gandalf character
[X] Many Stranded Web
Event • Maneuver
Discard Gandalf and spot X Free Peoples cultures to make one companion of each of those cultures strength +X until the regroup phase.
’Great as your affairs may seem to you, they are only a small strand in the great web.’

You’ll need other cards to play him in the regroup phase, but if you’re playing that strategy you’ll have a lot of them and good event recursion to do it again and again.
Good point about unbound, I’d forgotten about gandalf, bearer of obligation.

I’m going to add a few more cards, because I have little else better to do. Given your comments on my last set of similar cards, I suspect you’ll want me to change them, but they’re coming on anyway:
What is Finer Than Flying?
Event • Maneuver
Discard an Eagle to remove .
’May the wind under your wings bear you where the sun sails and the moon walks.’
H1 C 122
Beating Wings
Event • Maneuver
Discard an Eagle to wound a non-flyer minion.
Back swept the great birds that were with him and... smote them to the floor.
H1 U 88
Great Birds
Event • Regroup
Play an Eagle from your discard pile.
But the ancient race of the Northern mountains were the greatest of all birds...
H1 C 105
And some simple strength pumps:
Noble-Hearted
Event • Skirmish
Make a companion strength +2 (or strength +3 if that companion is an Eagle).
They did not love goblins, or fear them...
H1 C 117
Lofty Seats
Event • Skirmish
Make an Eagle strength +1 for each companion in your discard pile.
... down they came like huge black shadows.
H1 C 111
Purely coincidentally, that last card actually works quite nicely in the new woodland onod / glamdring, orc-beater deck.

No problems here.

Aha. Well, this is alright. I think I’d get rid of the twilight reduction, though.

Needs a cap, like +4, even though it’s companions. |

I don’t know if he needs a cap on Lofty Seats, with all of the things he has to play his companions from his discard pile. I’d say leave the cap off. |

Thanks all, GPs will come at some point.
Now for 3 cards to finish off the Eagles.
Loud Cry
Event • Skirmish
Make an Eagle strength +2 (or strength +4 and damage +1 if you can spot 3 companions in your discard pile).
Loud cried the Lord of the Eagles...
H1 U 115
• Lonely Pinnacle
Condition • Support Area
Each time an Eagle is played, you may exert it to take a event into hand from your discard pile.
Fellowship: Discard an Eagle or play an Eagle from your discard pile. Discard this condition.
The goblins hated the eagles... but could not reach their lofty seats...
H1 U 112
• Wind Under Wing
Condition • Support Area
To play, spot 3 companions.
Response: If an Eagle is about to be killed, remove this condition and a card from your discard pile from the game to discard that Eagle instead.
’Farewell!’ they cried, ’wherever you fare, till your eyries receive you at the journey’s end!’
H1 R 123
I’ve just realised there’s a card I’ve missed:
Wizard’s Trappings
Condition • Support Area
Response: If a Wizard is about to be discarded, stack a card borne by that Wizard here.
Regroup: Add to play a card stacked here on a Wizard.
He had a tall pointed blue hat, a long grey cloak, a silver scarf over which his long white beard hung down below his waist, and immense black boots.
H1 U 125
Next time it’s Beorn to finish off the culture.

I think I’d lower the cost to and reduce the +4 to +3.

Okay. I’d be loathe to use the second ability, since this condition is unique, but it’s fine as is.
