Legoles, PLEASE get rid of some of those exclamation points. They’re messing up the thread. Confused

Bearer must be a Dwarf. Limit one per bearer.
At the start of each assignment phase, you may exchange a hand weapon borne by bearer for a Dwarven hand weapon from your hand with an equal or lesser strength bonus.
Gimli carried his great battle axe from a padded ring set in the back of a bandolier that criss-crossed his shoulders and was attached to his belt.

Hmm sorry Dain i dont share your enthusiasm, its an odd card that i wouldnt use as i cant see the benefit.

sickofpalantirs wrote:
I am missing its usefulness...now if it was one from your discard pile...

The main reason to use this is to let you pick and choose the best weapon for the minions on the table. For example, say Gimli is out with Axe of Erebor. The opponent drops a couple of Orcs, and you have the Orc-killing Gimli’s Battle Axe in hand. You can essentially sheath the Axe of Erebor and have Gimli pull out the battle axe, getting an extra wound (or two) on the Orcs. Next turn, if you have a couple cards stacked on a Dwarven condition and are facing, say, some Men minions, it would make sense to put the battle axe away and pull out the Erebor axe again. Creates a little hand clog, sure, but if you pair it with, say, Dwarven Cart, it’s not so bad, is it? Very Happy

Bearer must be a Dwarf.
Fellowship: Exert bearer and discard a pipeweed to draw X cards, where X is the number of pipes you can spot (limit 3).
“And certainly it was from Bree that the art of smoking the genuine weed spread in the recent centuries among Dwarves and such other folk....”

Looks nice. Are there Dwarven pipeweeds, too, or just running off Shire ones?

Shire isn’t the only culture in my sets with pipeweed, but right now, Dwarves don’t have any of their own, no.

2Dwarven Cart Dwarven

To play, spot 2 Dwarves.
Fellowship: Spot no more than 3 cards stacked here to stack a Dwarven possession here from hand.
Regroup: Add 1 to take a Dwarven possession from here into hand.
“An odd-looking waggon laden with odd-looking packages rolled into Hobbiton one evening and toiled up the Hill to Bag End.”

Bad wording on the Fellowship action. Should be "Fellowship: If you cannot spot more than 3 cards here stack a Dwarven possession here from hand." As it is, they merely have to spot 0, 1, 2, or 3 of the cards that are on there to meet the cost; this wording deals with whether or not it’s possible to spot the cards, not whether or not you do.

Good call. I’ll fix that.

Lem0n and SoP, I think I’ll keep the limit at 3 and the cost at 2 since other reviewers thought the limit and cost were okay. Thumbs Up

Hunter 1.
When this companion is in your starting fellowship and you can spot a Dwarf or Hobbit, this companion’s twilight cost is -1.
When you play this companion (except in your starting fellowship), you may play a Dwarven possession or Dwarven tale from your draw deck.
“It was driven by outlandish folk, singing strange songs: dwarves with long beards and deep hoods. A few of them remained at Bag End.”

Should probably limit the twilight cost to 1 or less on the possession/tale. I like him, though. Thumbs Up

Not a bad idea. But I think I’ll limit it to a cost of 2.

Thranduil wrote:
Take out the ’in your starting fellowship bit’, with a text like that and a second ability like his he doesn’t need that restriction. And I don’t like the idea of a fantastic starting companion with an ability that doesn’t work, so I’d actually change the ability or take out the cost reduction.

Eh, a couple people liked the somewhat difficult choice his two abilities give (cost reduction or extra possession/tale?), so I think I’ll leave it.

I made just a couple tweaks, since there were such differing (and numerous!) reviews. Basically, if more than one person suggested it, or I just thought one reviewer had a particularly good idea, I changed it. If there was some disagreement between different reviews, I probably left it alone. Lemme know what you think, and thanks all! Thumbs Up

Not sure how fast reviews may come in the rest of the day (my cookout is over, so I should be around some the rest of the night), so let’s test the waters with a card and see how it goes. Enjoy!

2 Not Been Idle Dwarven
Condition
To play, exert a Dwarf (or spot 3 Dwarves). Plays on a mountain or underground site. Limit 1 per site.
When the fellowship moves from this site, you may remove 1 and heal up to 2 Dwarves.

I got the idea of the badolier Dain, sheathe - unsheathe the best weapon but its overly complicated and i wouldnt carry that many axes in my hand. Really nice idea DI dont get me wrong, but i wouldnt use it.

This site’s Shadow number is -1.

For a start you said condition support area and then said plays on a site. Also its pretty useless as unless the dwarves have pathfinder cards, the site they are moving to will not be out during the fellowship (or if you move again you dont get a fellowship phase to play it) rendering the twilight reduction pointless.
Its worth 2 just for the healing aspect but the other bit needs attention.

Okay, I think it works out better now. Let me know if it’s still busted somehow and I’ll tweak it.

Here’s a couple more conditions focused around the "Council Dwarves"--we’ll stay here for a little bit before moving to the Moria Dwarves--and these conditions actually DO play to the support area. Razz Enjoy!

2Sent for Council Dwarven
Condition • Support Area
At the start of each maneuver phase, you may discard an Elven card from hand to heal a Dwarf, or discard a Dwarven card from hand to heal an Elf.
“‘...we crave the advice of Elrond. For the Shadow grows and draws nearer.’”

Some extra incentives for using Dwarves and Elves together. It’s a decktype that has some potential, it just needs a little help. Smile

4Betrayed of Old Dwarven
Condition • Support Area
Tale. Toil 2.
Each time a minion is played, spot a minion of the same culture in an opponent’s discard pile and exert a Dwarf to exert that minion (or wound it if you can spot a minion with the same card title in an opponent’s discard pile).
“‘We needed not the fell voice of the messenger to warn us that his words held both menace and deceit; for we knew already that the power that has re-entered Mordor has not changed....’”

Awesome shoulder to shoulder but less costly as you dont need to exert but youve countered that by raising cost! Sweet DI.

5Betrayed of Old Dwarven
Condition • Support Area
Tale. Toil 2.
Each time a minion is played, spot a minion of the same culture in an opponent’s discard pile and exert a Dwarf to exert that minion (or wound it if you can spot a minion with the same card title in an opponent’s discard pile). Limit twice per turn.
“‘We needed not the fell voice of the messenger to warn us that his words held both menace and deceit; for we knew already that the power that has re-entered Mordor has not changed....’”

Niiiice. I might even be tempted to remove the limit as shadowplay doesnt have one and this is a bit more resticted to certain minions. Youre limited as you wouldnt want to keep exerting your dwarves. Sweet card though. Kudos.

Question can you spot things in opponents discard piles?

I’d take it down to 1, not as useful as shoulder to shoulder all in all, and I don’t think it needs to be unique.

There’s certainly something to be said for lem0n’s suggestion. It’s cool though.

cut cost to 2 and kill the toil IMHO it isn’t like exertions are very useful with dwarves...except grima

I may have to switch to the Moria Dwarves sooner rather than later...ideas are drying up for the Dwarves at the Council of Elrond. Confused But here’s a guy that falls into both categories. He’s one of the main characters from the game The Third Age, which will eventually be the centerpiece of my final DC set. I’m sprinkling little bits of those characters and the events surrounding them through my other sets, at various points where their paths crossed with the events we know and love from The Lord of the Rings. Like most of the other Third Age characters, he shows up in the background in one of the film’s scenes...as a Dwarf with Gimli et al upon arriving at Rivendell. So, here he is...enjoy!

4Hadhod, Of the Clan of Fundin Dwarven
Companion • Dwarf
Strength: 7
Vitality: 4
Signet: Thorin
Damage +1.
While you can spot 2 Dwarves (or a Dwarf and a ranger), Hadhod’s twilight cost is -2.
At the start of each maneuver phase, you may add 1 to play a Dwarven possession on Hadhod from your draw deck.
Though he later became better-known for his travels with Men and Elves, Hadhod’s journey began when he traveled with his kinsmen to Rivendell.
