Anyway would you be interested in a rematch with the same decks later on? BTW great report as always you go into great detail on them. You forgot to mention I had your Eowyn dead at site 2 though , but that can be our little secret .
Yeah, I missed that she could be Not This Timed to death by assigning her, and NK was gracious enough to let me reassign to Gorn. He didn’t have to, but he’s just a nice guy like that. |

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!
Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North! |

LOL, I was just in the christmas spirit that game . Anyway you have been nice enough in past games to let me go back and fix some things I missed, not to mention later in that game you returned the favor by letting me retransfer an artifact that I mistook for another artifact. I will one day learn to read the card’s title before transferring instead of just thinking I know where I put it in the first place. As for the reassigning thing I owed you one from a previous game. Great Game it was and a very sweet deck you have there Dain. If I hadn’t retook control of the sitepath with Smeagol and Follow Smeagol I would had been in for a much bumpier ride. As for your Freeps, Eowyn is a scary little lady . Great Game my friend. |

Nk’s and Exerting with Wizard Conditions
vs.
Dain’s Hunters with Site Control
I bid 1 he bid 0 and had to go first. He played Aragorn, Defender of the Free People, Agility, an Elven Bow, Gorn’s Bow (the original) and Silver Ewer and moved. I played Pallando Decieved, Evil-smelling Fens, Throne of Isengard and Mumak Commander. For maneuver I exerted Commander twice to exert Gorn twice then his arrows killed me. He Doubled to 3. I played Saruman, Agent of the Dark Lord and for maneuver exerted him to bring up the condition minion. His arrows cut Saruman down and Gorn used the tokens on Agility to win the first round then Orophin ate to wounds for the fierce. I finally got my turn as the freeps. I played Eowyn, Lady of Ithilien, Riddermark Javelin and Eomer’s Spear, Trusted Weapon and moved. He played no minions, but expecting an ambush I stayed.
He played Another Agility, a few other cards and moved to 4. I played Gollum, Skulker, exerted him twice and discarded evil-smelling fens to get Saruman back out. I also played his staff and Alatar Decieved. For maneuver I once again exerted Saruman to bring up Pallando Decieved and Gollum died in archery and Saruman ate a wound. For the Skirmishes Orophin was assigned to Saruman and Gorn Got the Wizard Condition/Minion. Gorn lost since he couldn’t use culture tokens at this site and ate 2 wounds. Since Pallando was now a wizard minion he triggered Alatar to the field. Saruman out pumps Orophin and Orophin ate 2 wounds. For the fierce, Gorn died at the hands of one condition/minion, Orophin died at the hands of another and Legolas ate 2 wounds. He stayed, and for regroups I discarded the Staff to send Saruman back to hand.
My turn again. I played 2 Shadowplays and Birthday Present and moved. He played Freca and controlled the site and Hillman Mob and gave them both War Clubs. I discarded the Javelin to kill the Mob and then discarded the spear to kill Freca and liberate the site. I stayed.
At site 4 he played nothing and moved giving me 5+ site. I played Hobbiton Market since all my minions would be lurkers if he doubled again. Giving me 7 to work with. I played CBtR to pull Gollum and add a threat, I played Saruman again and Incited. For maneuver I exerted Saruman to bring Pallando up and for archery Gollum ate 2 wounds. He assigned Gollum to Galadriel and saruman to Legolas and I got to assign Pallando to Galadriel. He got the game out of the way and had Galadriel skirmish first. She was overwhelmed 18-5.

NK’s Discarding Dwarves/Two Hunters Hybrid w/ Beckoning Shadow Orcs
vs.
my Super Gimli’s Elves w/ Moria Swarm/Beatdown Hybrid
As you can tell by me posting the report, I won, but it was as close as close gets. Had my next turn begun, I would have literally lost the game immediately. Fortunately I FINALLY drew the right combo of cards at the right time and did just enough to steal a victory. That all said, let’s get to it, shall we?
As NK himself will tell you, his deck is a bit interesting. It starts like good old Three Hunters, with Legolas OtWR and Gimli EH, but while it has some Three Hunters staples like Namarie and Focus, it quickly becomes clear that there’s no Aragorn here: the rest of the fellowship is all Dwarves, and their main purpose is to drain your deck with Dwarven Warriors, Dwarven Axes, Thorin III, and several copies of Nobody Tosses A Dwarf. His Shadow side then feeds off of that with burdening Orcs and copies of The Beckoning Shadow...the intent being, of course, to slap five burdens on you, drain your deck down to nothing, and then insta-corrupt the Ring-bearer. It was frighteningly effective, too, and there wasn’t much I could do to stop it...just delay it.
My deck was an old favorite that I hadn’t used for a long time. The FP side centers around Gimli, Counter of Foes and uses some old-school cards to abuse his text to the fullest. I slap a Ring of Retribution and multiple copies of Endurance of Dwarves on him, giving him potentially 8 vitality to work with...exhausted, that would translate to a 13-strength, damage +8 beast! But it gets better, as cards like Lend Us Your Aid and Battle To The Last can pump him up to ridiculous levels: one copy of the latter can easily provide a strength +10 pump...and can peak at +14 if all goes well. Wow! My starting fellowship also has Frodo and Legolas, Elven Comrade who can further pump up Gimli (or others in a pinch), and the rest of my companions are Elven Guardians and Linnar, whose text can help heal Gimli up under the right circumstances (and who can be an emergency backup Dwarf for some of my cards if Gimli somehow falls).
My Shadow side is a good old swarm, abusing Goblin Runners and the Scimitar/Armory combo to the fullest (four copies of each). It also splashes in a couple Balrogs, Hosts of Moria, and a Cave Troll for heavy hitting when necessary. As it turns out, those big bruisers are really what won me the game, with all three playing a big part.
So, I bid two to start, and he bid nada. He went first, playing barely anything and giving me only to work with. But as anyone who’s used knows, that’s more than enough. I was fortunate to draw an armory AND two Scimitars AND a Runner, so I got two minions out, slapped Scimitars on them, and played Moria Stairway as the site. Gimli was still powerful enough to win, but Legolas quickly had two wounds. NK stopped.
On my turn, I ALSO drew very little and gave him only and he had only to work with. I fended off the one minion he played and doubled to 3, taking a couple wounds and I think one more burden (as I hadn’t figured out his strategy yet and basically chose to let that happen). I stopped to heal next turn.
His strategy quickly struck me as he next dropped a Dwarven Warrior and a Dwarven Axe. I pulled only a couple minions and didn’t really do much except bleed cards from the top of my deck (including one of my precious Guardians and one of only two copies of Linnar), but with the previous wounds on Legolas, he also stopped at 3.
Next turn I again drew very little, but enough to escape with just a couple wounds at Site 4, and no more burdens yet...a good thing, since Beckoning Shadow officially hit the table now. I stopped, hoping beyond hope for better FP stuff next site.
He got another Warrior and now Durin III as well, but chose not to transfer anything to them, allowing my goblins to do a little damage again. He also stopped at 4.
I finally pulled my last copy of both Linnar and my last Guardian at the next site, and was hoping to double as my deck continued to dwindle. But with his Orc Crusher getting very cheap now, he was able to throw enough minions my way (and add one more burden) that I simply couldn’t risk it yet. I had to stop at 5.
And once again, my minions did just enough to keep him from moving past me next turn, laying on a couple more wounds and causing him to match me.
I had to fight tooth and nail to keep another burden off now, and JUST managed to do so at the next site, though I lost my important Still Twitching and one of my two Guardians along the way. I also had lots of wounds, so I was once again forced to stop after just a single move.
The next turn was the beginning of the turnaround, though I didn’t realize it. I FINALLY got a couple of my big minions, dropping the Balrog and the Cave Troll (along with a couple Runners to help pay for them) at Site 6, his underground adventure deck aiding me greatly (since, remember, he had been controlling the sitepath since very early in the game). He brought out Thorin III, but both of his Dwarven Warriors fell and he had some more wounds to deal with. He stopped at 6, now down to 3 Dwarves, Legolas, and his Galadriel RB.
I was down to fumes on my draw deck, with only about a dozen cards left once I reconciled to begin my turn. I simply couldn’t keep that fifth burden off now, as he had no less than three ways to get it now. So I didn’t even try, and instead held onto everything I could and fought as hard as I could to just survive. I did, but when I again reconciled for his turn, I was down to just two cards in my deck. I knew I had just played my last FP turn, as beginning the next would mean instant corruption.
I thought I had no chance, and I acted like it, playing everything I could just to get things over with. But then, as he pointed out, I suddenly realized that my Host of Moria allowed me to play no less than SIX minions (including a couple stacked and from discard), and with no defender bonuses, he was forced to assign Galadriel, and I was able to assign another minion to her as well. She was overwhelmed, and somehow, impossibly, I had stolen a victory from the very brink of defeat.
Great game, NK. I got lucky, pure and simple. You had me beat, and I think we both knew it. Great deck, great game. |

Great Report as always Dain. You didn’t simply steal the victory you earned it the hard way. You played your last 2 shadow turns perfect and your last freeps turn to perfection as well. Had I been able to keep Galadriel alive I would have got the victory, but you simply stuck around and fought it back perfectly. . It was indeed a very well played game by us both with you getting the victory. Hats off to that Gimli he is a pimp with his Elven ladies . |

First thing is to forward port 10000 on your router. If you do that, then you should be able to host, and someone can show you how to use SdA. I’ll show you if I have time, but since I can’t host (firewalled behind a residential gateway), you’ll have to forward the port and be able to host. |
