Very cool. Fine as is, and interesting text.

1 Dwarven Short Sword Dwarven
Possession • Hand Weapon
Strength +1
Bearer must be a Dwarf.
This weapon may be borne in addition to 1 other hand weapon.
Skirmish: Discard this weapon to wound a minion bearer is skirmishing (twice if that minion is an Orc or Uruk-hai). The Shadow player may remove (X) to prevent X of those wounds.
“...each of them had also a short broad sword at his side....”

I’m afraid you’ve contradicted your title in your lore text! A ’short broad sword’ is not a ’short sword’, it’s a ’broad sword’. If it were a short sword, the quote would have been a ’broad short sword’! Cool You can either ignore that, or change it’s title to broad sword! I suggest ignoring me.
Compare to Hand Axe. I’d make it 0.

0 Dwarven Knife Dwarven
Possession • Hand Weapon
Bearer must be a Dwarf.
This weapon may be borne in addition to 1 other hand weapon.
While bearer bears no other hand weapons, bearer is strength +1.
This weapon may not be discarded by Shadow cards.
“Then the battle began. Some of the dwarves had knives....”

Might use it, but it’s really annoying with the mattock. Are there any weapons that do work together?

2 Bow of Horn Dwarven
Possession • Ranged Weapon
Bearer must be a Dwarf.
Archery: If the Shadow has initiative, exert bearer or discard a card from hand to make the fellowship archery total +1 (limit once per phase).
Archery: If you have initiative, exert bearer and discard a card from hand to make the fellowship archery total +1 (limit once per phase).
“Then Thorin seized a bow of horn and shot an arrow at the speaker.”

I’m not sure if I’m understanding the point of this card. Why would it be easier to add to the archery total after you’ve lost initiative? Adding 2 archery is immense, but it’s still too expensive. Either should give a strength boost, or should cost 1, or maybe 0.

I would make the strength bonus +3 or drop the cost to 1. Smile

You need to add "or" before "twice". Plus, I think you could say "...remove X threats to prevent X of...." Neat card! Thumbs Up

Thanks for the reviews, all! Thumbs Up I made several recommended changes.

Dáin’s DC Duos #203

A couple more Dwarven possessions today, this time focused on defense rather than offense. Enjoy!

1 Hauberk of Steel Mail Dwarven
Possession • Armor
Bearer must be a Dwarf.
While you have initiative, bearer takes no more than one wound during each phase.
“Each one of his folk was clad in a hauberk of steel mail that hung to his knees, and his legs were covered with hose of a fine and flexible metal mesh, the secret of whose making was possessed by Dáin’s people.”

1 Round Shield Dwarven
Possession • Shield
Bearer must be a Dwarf.
The minion archery total is -1.
Skirmish: Exert bearer and discard this possession to prevent all wounds to him until the regroup phase.
“...and a round shield slung at his back.”

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!

Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North!

There goes great shield! I feel that this one’s better than the first one, but not by much. Maybe the hauberk should also have a discard ability?

Good call. That does it give it some extra oomph, doesn’t it? Very Happy

Dáin’s DC Duos #204

It’s taken a while, but I’m starting to come around to followers. I liked the potential they had at first, then disliked most of the ones Decipher actually made, then started to like some of them, then found myself defending them when follower hate started cropping up as solidly as I had defended allies when they were phased out. So I guess I’m pro-follower now. Very Happy

Oh, which brings me back to the Duos. Here’s my first couple DC followers. Well, actually, it’s just ONE follower, but two different versions of him. You’ll see what I mean...just read. Razz And enjoy!
