Me and Lord of the Shire just had 7 games. here’s how they went:
My three hunters and Gandalf/Enduring Nazzies vs. his Gandalf and elves/corsairs. I overwhelmed Frodo with a Lost in the woods
My dwarves/discarding corruption vs. his Gondor Kings and wraiths/Sauron swarm. He ran to site nine, at the end he had 6 burdens and two cards left in his deck
My Elves/Gollum Corruption vs. his Knights/Stragglers. I got him at site 8 or nine with gollum, shelob, and the balrog (he had three companions left, i killed one with a well-timed A Dark Shape Sprang)
My Elves/ Ninja Gollum vs. his Gandalf and Elves/corsairs. He ran to site nine, discarding shadow conditions with pallando and Brooding on Tomorrow.
My Elves/ Ninja Gollum vs. his Knights/Stragglers. I got swarmed.
My Elves/ Ninja Gollum bs. his Knights/Stragglers. He got Gil-Galad the site i played him. I kinda gave it up after that.
My Elves and Aragorn Archery/Stragglers vs. his gandalf and elves/Corsairs. My archery got seven companions by site four. He killed one, but i managed to swarm him.
My Elves and Aragorn Archery/Stragglers vs. his gandalf and elves/Corsairs. This was by far the most intense game so far. He took out my Haldir at site four with Wind that Sped Ships. Then, I took out Elladan with Crazed Hillman. The next site, he pounded me. He discarded all my bows with Corsair plunderer, so i could no longer spot archers for Many Miles. He took down Aragorn, Rumil, Legolas, and Lorien Swordsmen with many minions and events. Then, I took control of the game, killing off Gandalf and Elrohir (leaving him with only frodo). I had lorien swordsman and frodo left, but i knew i had two companions left in my deck. I pulled a lorien swordsmen, played him, and moved. He swarmed me. |

Yikes! By the way...how does A Dark Shape Sprang get used, practically? How can you get Gollum strong enough? |

well, it is a skirmish phase. so you can use events, and they stole it/promise keeping, or Not This Time! and slippery as fishes makes gollum strength plus during any phase, so... and the companion was already exhaused (exerted to transfer fortifications, mainly fourth level to kill shelob). |

I played against a friend. He was using a Rainbow mish-mash/ Beatdown. I was using my Knight Fortifications/Morc Archery.
He bid 2 to go first. I pulled up a pretty solid hand. He gave me a ton of twilight on the first turn. I dropped the Witch-King, Lord of the Nazgul, exhausted a companion and exerted Frodo twice. Good start. My turn. I played a couple fortifications and a Sixth Level, an Aragorn, an Isildur, Heir of Elendil and a Faramir, Defender of Osgiliath, with whom I pulled my Imrahil. I moved up and faced a couple Uruks. They were both dead with the fortifications. I decided to move again. Pulled back the fortifications with Sixth level. Faced 3 Uruk-hai. One killed Faramir, but it was not a big deal.
He played a few things and got up to 6 companions. I played Ulaire Nelya, Third of the nine riders. Switched the site for Anduin banks. Had 4 archery and then played 2 Morgul Lurker for 8 archery total (I had initiative). He had an almost exhausted fellowship. Killed off my minions but decided not to move.
On my turn, at site three, I pulled a Denethor, Lord of Minas Tirith. Lucky I pulled out a Fourth Level and a Gondor Bow with Denethor. I can’t remember everything I played, but I remember that I flooded the pool that turn. He played 3 minions. They died. I had a good Shadow hand so I decided not to move.
He played a ton. Gave me a lot of twilight I played another Nelya. Switched the site. He had 3 threats so I played 2 Morgul Ambusher for 8 archery, a Gothmog, and 2 Morgul Lurkers. Game Over. |
