Hmmm. Still trying to decide how to tweak a couple from the last batch (but I see the need to now, so thanks for the continued reviews, guys! Thumbs Up).

However, for now, let’s move on. I started off the knights with Boromir, followed by his gear. And now, for the rangers, I started with Faramir...so you should know what’s next. Very Happy Enjoy!

1Faramir’s Cloak, Mantle of Dark Green Gondor
Possession • Cloak
Resistance +1
Bearer must be Faramir.
Each roaming minion is twilight cost +1 and loses all ambush bonuses.
“The tall green man laughed grimly. `I am Faramir, Captain of Gondor,’ he said.”

2Faramir’s Sword, Blade of the Raven Gondor
Possession • Hand Weapon
Strength +2
Bearer must be a Gondor ranger.
If the fellowship is at a forest site or the Shadow has initiative, bearer is damage +1.
Skirmish: If bearer is Faramir, exert him to wound a Man or Orc he is skirmishing.

1Faramir’s Bow, Prince’s Weapon Gondor
Possession • Ranged Weapon
Bearer must be Faramir.
He is an archer.
Archery or Skirmish: Exert Faramir to exert a roaming minion; Faramir does not add to the fellowship archery total.
“‘But how can this slippery thing of many guises be caught, save by a feathered shaft?’”

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!

Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North!

Blade of the Raven is a bit powerful... I’d cut the damage bonus. The rest look great! Thumbs Up
I had to put something here.

How about replace ’Gondor Man’ with ’ranger’ - then it can’t be the Ring-bearer anyway. For 0, I think this is too good. 1 is better, or if it could only be borne by Faramir.

Because it’s 2, I think it’s fine.

I like it, except that, especially given his sword above, it should only be an archery action.

lame subtitle. Mantle of Green would be better. make it cost something with that ability.

needs lore. why raven?

Wow the roaming thing is nasty as hell, if you stick with that the cloak should cost 2 at least. Or cut it as the ambush thing is a nice touch.

Raven? Eh? Why the counter initiative thing? I really hated the MD cards that took advantage of losing initiative. Its a BAD thing so why get a bonus for it? There are no freeps cards that like companions in the dead pile!

I upped the cost of the cloak to 1 after numerous comments about it. Also, the raven thing is because Faramir’s sword has a very prominent raven on it. You can see pictures here and here, and more details are here.

Anyway, let’s get to a couple more rangers, shall we? Smile

3Damrod, Goodly Man of the South Gondor
Companion • Man
Strength: 6
Vitality: 3
Resistance: 6
Ring-bound. Ranger. Hunter 1. While you can spot 2 other Ring-bound companions, Damrod’s twilight cost is -1.
Each time a Gondor ranger wins a skirmish involving a roaming minion, you may add 1 to heal a ranger or hunter.
“‘May the Valar turn him aside!’”

2Mablung, Ithilien Forayer Gondor
Companion • Man
Strength: 5
Vitality: 3
Resistance: 6
Ring-bound. Ranger. Hunter 1.
At the start of each skirmish involving Mablung and a roaming minion, you may exert Mablung to exert a minion skirmishing a Gondor ranger.
“‘The road may pass, but they shall not!’”

Both of these guys, especially Mablung, have their text directly inspired by previous versions. But hopefully they’re different enough to still stand out on their own. Smile

EDIT: Here’s another:

2Anborn, Huntsman of Henneth Annun Gondor
Companion • Man
Strength: 5
Vitality: 3
Resistance: 6
Ring-bound. Ranger. Hunter 1.
Archery: Exert Anborn and spot another ranger bearing a ranged weapon to exert a minion (or wound a roaming minion).
“‘I have my bow here, and I have posted other archers, nigh as good marksmen as myself, on either bank. We wait only for your command to shoot, Captain.’”

Another ranger besides who? Damrod or the winner? Sound though.

Possibly too good with the twilight reduction. I’d consider making the second ability just apply to Damrod or remove the reduction.

Much better balance on this one. I like it.

Alright, I tweaked Damrod’s ability so it requires a little twilight (and ties in hunters), and I added a third ranger: Anborn. Reviews (and re-reviews) are most welcome! Smile
