To play, spot a Man. Bearer must be a Man, Elf, or Dwarf.
If bearer is Legolas or Gimli, Gimli gains hunter 2, and if you can spot Legolas, the fellowship archery total is +1.
“A smaller and lighter horse, but restive and fiery, was brought to Legolas....Gimli was lifted up behind his friend.”
swift? fiery would be better
I would make it hunter 1. right now...way too good for 3 hunters decks. |

Okay, I changed Arod as Thran and lem0n recommended, and also nerfed it to hunter 1 for Gimli as SoP recommended. To compensate, I gave it a small resistance bonus (since the original version had one).
Oh, and I tweaked the much-maligned subtitle.
How’s it look now? |

At the start of each skirmish involving bearer, each minion skirmishing bearer must exert.
“A great dark-grey horse was brought to Aragorn, and he mounted it. ‘Hasufel is his name,’ said Éomer. ‘May he bear you well....’”
basic and cool. seems it should have some bonus if on aragorn. maybe it only exert if borne by aragorn...or maybe the strength bonus if only botne by him.

If bearer is Legolas or Gimli, each of them is considered to be mounted, Gimli gains hunter 1, and if you can spot Legolas, the fellowship archery total is +1.
“A smaller and lighter horse, but restive and fiery, was brought to Legolas....Gimli was lifted up behind his friend.”
much better subtitle. good combo with rohan, 3 hunters and ride like the wind...I need to get Nbarden to design a deck like that with this card
the resistance boost could be cut, but there isn’t a huge reason too. |

Okay, sticking with possessions, here are a couple that are meant to actually help the Rohirrim instead of others. Enjoy!
Rohirrim Sword
Possession • Hand Weapon
Strength +2
Bearer must be a Man.
While at a battleground or plains site, bearer is damage +1.
“...long swords were at their belts, their burnished skirts of mail hung down upon their knees.”
Can you believe that Big D only ever made ONE non-unique sword for ? It’s true. And that was in their first appearance in the set The Two Towers!
Rider’s Axe
Possession • Hand Weapon
Strength +2
Bearer must be a Man. Bearer is damage +1.
Skirmish: If bearer is mounted, discard this possession to make bearer strength +3 and damage +2 until the end of the current skirmish.
“‘The men of Rohan must ride forth today, and we will ride with them, axe, sword, and bow.’” |

You’re missing a bold on that last damage bonus, but I like both cards and have no complaints.
As for lore, I’m afraid I’ve never tried really making cards (having spent most of my DCing career on the Hobbit) so I haven’t a clue, which is I’m sure exactly what you were hoping to hear!

Like it. Rohan feel.

Now why on earth would I use any other weapon? Cut the damage +1 bonus, and make it +4 strength on the ability, remember, you’re losing the strength +2 bonus.
No lore? Ol’ Dáin must be losing it. Yeah, had some trouble finding good lore for this one...any suggestions? |

Because it costs , for one thing, so it’s not exactly cheap if you choose to keep playing it and/or pulling it back from discard. Granted, even without the skirmish ability it’s pretty nice, but again, it costs , which I think balances that out enough.
NBarden wrote: Cut the damage +1 bonus, and make it +4 strength on the ability, remember, you’re losing the strength +2 bonus.
And as for the ability, it requires a mount, and since it doesn’t provide a drastic increase in strength (which was intentional), it’s not going to help very often for outpumping the enemy. Thus the big damage +2 is the major part of it, and since it’s a one-time shot (since it’s discarded), I think it’s okay as is.
EDIT: I HAVE finally found some decent lore, though. It actually refers to Gimli’s axe, I believe, but it works for the card. |

Yeah, I like the axe as is. It looks really OP, but it’s not since you lose the bonuses when it’s discarded. The end result is strength +1 and damage +1 on top of what they already had for that skirmish, then you lose the weapon.
I like the idea, too. Leave the axe embedded in some Uruk’s skull so deep you can’t pull it back out.

The problem is, then you lose the damage +1 bonus, so its only a net damage +1 gain, and that’s for discarding the axe.
As its the flat-out damage bonus that makes the card overpowered (see now obsolete Rider’s Spear, Rohirrim Axe, Sword of the Mark, etc), my suggestion is to drop the damage bonus, or make the damage bonus conditional, like all the other weapons. Flat-out damage makes the card OP, not the ability. So I would either make it conditional or drop damage altogether.
But if I may say.
LONG LIVE RIDER’S SPEAR, THE ONLY WORTHY NON-UNIQUE WEAPON! This one’s cool, but I still like Rider’s Spear. Good, solid, mount/spear combo for killing anything under 4 vitality. |
