You like me! You really like me! Or at least, my DCs.
Seriously, thanks guys. I was a bit apprehensive about all those, seeing as how they were my first real foray into followers. I’m feeling extra generous, so I’ll make sure everyone that reviewed those gets a . Might take me a while, though.
Anyway, the show must go on!
Dáin’s DC Duos #207
Since we’ve got some nice synergy between the and cultures going, let’s stick with it. Here’s a couple cards that build on that...enjoy!
•A Chance Meeting
Condition • Support Area
Tale.
Each time you play a Dwarf, spot Gandalf and another tale to draw a card.
Each time you play a tale, spot Gandalf and 2 Dwarves to draw a card.
“‘But on a time it chanced that he was passing through Eriador when he fell in with Thorin Oakenshield, and they talked together on the road....’”
Immensely Rich and Famous
Condition • Support Area
To play, spot a Dwarf and a Man.
Fellowship: Discard a possession from play to play a possession from your draw deck, or discard a possession from play to play a possession from your draw deck.
“‘Kings used to send for our smiths, and reward even the least skilful most richly. Fathers would beg us to take their sons as apprentices, and pay us handsomely, especially in food-supplies, which we never bothered to grow or find for ourselves.’” |

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!
Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North! |

Cool but you might want to clarify whether you mean from hand or play. i know the default is from play but i dont know what you had in mind!

Good stuff both of them, but I think the first one will sound less clumsy if it wasn’t a tale. Also, it’d be interesting to try and play those cards out of the fellowship phase to beat the rule of 4.
I’m impressed you found a lore text from Unfinished Tales (at least I think that’s where it’s from, though it’s possibly from the appendix to LOTR). GP for you.

A bit overcosted. I would make the second ability spot 2 Dwarves.

I’m kind of known for my lore. I own the entire Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and The Silmarillion in written AND digital form, and I also own Unfinished Tales and much of The History of Middle-Earth. You could call me a bit of a LOTR nut.
So yes, don’t be surprised to see lore from lesser-known sources. I pride myself on that.
Thanks for the reviews, boys. I’m going to be offline much of the afternoon and was concerned I wouldn’t be able to get many cards up as a result, since reviews before about 2:00 EST can be hard to come by. Bravo for proving me wrong. |

Dáin’s DC Duos #208
This will PROBABLY be the last Duo of the day, or at least until later this evening, as I’ll be out for a while.
Just a couple more cards about the Dwarves working with other cultures. Enjoy!
You Must Claim Your Own
Event • Maneuver
Toil 1.
Spot 2 Men, a Dragon, or a unique Orc to make a Dwarf strength +2, damage +1, and unable to be overwhelmed unless his strength is tripled until the regroup phase.
“... there is no knowing what a dwarf will not dare and do for revenge or the recovery of his own.”
A Kick and a Struggle
Event • Maneuver
Spot a Dwarf and exert 2 companions of different races to rescue a captured character of the same culture as one of those companions.
“Well, between them they started to haul up first one dwarf and then another and slash them free.”
I think everyone knows what capturing and rescuing are by now, but if not, just ask and I’ll point you to a detailed description. |

"Two" should be "2". Nifty cards! |

I’m afraid I’m not sure what the cost of this card is. Do you have to spot either 2 Men and a Dragon, or just a unique Orc, or do you have to spot 2 Men, and either a Dragon or a unique Orc?
Good card, though, but there should be a comma after ’tripled’, just to make it all crystal clear.

Sorry to be difficult, but I don’t know anything about captured or rescued characters, so it’s hard to review this card!

I’m afraid I don’t know capture/rescue, either.
But on A Kick and a Struggle, do the two companions have to be different races from eachother AND the dwarf, or just eachother? |
Never kid about politicians. The more bizarre the joke, the more likely it is to come true. |

Spot 2 Men OR a Dragon OR a unique Orc. Any idea how I can make that clearer?

They have to be different from each other, but not necessarily different from the Dwarf. You could exert a Dwarf and an Elf, a Dwarf and a Man, or an Elf and a Man, but you have to be able to spot a Dwarf whether you exert him or not.
As for capturing/rescuing, see Duo #175. I really need to add that to the main Lasting Alliances thread for quick reference.... |
