I was playing with a friend’s Movie Block deck.

His: Dwarves with aggression drawing (banned I know)/Southron Archery and Hating Sauron

My: Elf and Gondor Archery/Threat Nazgul

I lost at site 9 when he got there with 5 companions including a tanked Durin and I could only muster 4 minions. My card draws were horrid and even my strongest minions couldn’t really touch his Damage + Dwarves.

Oh well. It was fun and good practice for a tournament at the end of August. |

I played against my little bro

His: Merry/Boromir/Aragorn w/ Moria Archery

My: Fortification Knights w/ Morc Archery

Anyway, he bid 3 to my 0 to go first and pulled Aragorn w/ the Prancing Pony. Played (in his first turn) Blade of Gondor, Hobbit Sword, Sting, Mithril Coat, Athelas. He moved to site two and I dropped three minions for 4 archery. He took the wounds, and then killed my guys and decided to stay put.

I played Faramir, Defender of Osgiliath and got Imrahil with him, and played a Gondor Bow and a Sixh Level and a Fourth Level. Then I moved. He got 5-6 archery on me. I took the wounds and beat his guys. Decided not to move.

The game went on for a while. He eventually killed 4 companions over time with his nasty archery and then dropped a bomb and site 7. Five minions got assigned to Frodo as he killed off the remainder of my companions.

It would be awsome to have 5 swarm minions on Frodo and you place down 2 second breakfast and kill the 1 and 2 vitality minions. |

Matchup:

PorterTroll’s Troll Swarm/Dwarven Token

                       VS

Maxidoodle’s Refuge Rainbow/Corsairs

He built up a fellowship really fast. Unfortunately, i couldn’t seem to draw any companions or posessions.(i drew 5 trolls on my first hand). By site 5 he had 6 companions out(frodo, eowyn, legolas, aragorn, eomer, heathen)

The only companions i had out were Durin, Gloin, Gimli, and Grimir. He continuted to use coif every time i tried to add twilight with my keyward so shadow victory did not seem easy. i played about 2 trolls per turn until site 8.

Thats when it got good. He moved to site 8 and all i played was a tower troll and the cave trolls keyward. he killed the keyward in archery then used his grimbeorn to put 2 wounds on my tower troll. he figured that i wouldn’t be able to do any major damage so he moved again to site 9 with only one minion out. I proved him wrong. I had 3 goblin hordes out and beasts of burden. i had 7 trolls in my hand then i used the hordes to bring 2 more and another keyward into hand. i now had 9 trolls in my hand. I exerted the keyward to add twilgiht but he canceled it. But since his companion bearing coif was exhausted, i was able to add more twilight when i exerted the keyward again. then i added the 9 twilight and went crazy!! i played: 2 Porter Trolls, 2 Beastly Olog-hai, 2 Ordnance Grunts, and the Cave Troll (and the Tower Troll i already had). Then i used my remaining twilight to play an Orkish worker to try and add more twilight, unfortunately, this failed. But i had 9 minions out on his 8 companions.

This is how it worked (maxidoodle asked me to mention that some of his companions were already wounded before this turn). In the first skirmishes, my trolls killed his: eowyn, legolas, heathen, eomer, grimbeorn, and aragorn. then he had 7 fierce trolls to deal with! the only companions he had left was erkenbrand and frodo. he assigned the cave troll to erkenbrand and i assigned the other 6 to frodo. Game over.

Ooh, I never thought about Coif beating back Troll’s Keyward. He should’ve been able to heal the bearer of Coif, though...

BTW, the companion’s called Haethen, not Heathen. There’s a big difference. |

| he did heal the bearer, but he had to keep exerting her twice every turn for about 6 sites so he couln’t keep them healed enough to continue to use it, he ran out of vitality for it on site 9 so i got to add some twilight. |
