Event • Skirmish
Exert a Hobbit companion to have him or her replace a wounded unbound companion in a skirmish. That Hobbit is strength +1 for each threat you can spot.
“He darted backwards and forwards, slashing at spider-threads, hacking at their legs, and stabbing at their fat bodies if they came too near.”

Kinda powerful. Especially with Pippin, Sworn to service and Merry, Rohirrim Squire...

How about if I require that Hobbit to be bearing a weapon?

I don’t know...I built a deck revolving around abusing these two, with total threat removal and a strength 21 Merry, strength 14 Pippin...this card would be just what I need...to make a strength 23 Pippin that takes over everyone’s skirmish, and then Daddy Twofoot...

I don’t think it’s too powerful. You COULD add a limit, but a high one, like +5. But I think the exertion helps a bit... so everyone knows doesn’t get terribly abused.

Toil 2.
If your companion is about to be captured, spot a Shire companion to prevent that.

“...had tied him up again and were dragging him away. He gave a shout and slashed at the spiders in front of him.”

I like, but the toil is somewhat unnecessary but nevertheless reflective of the title and lore.

Condition
Tale. Bearer must be a Hobbit companion.
While skirmishing an Orc, bearer is strength +1.
Skirmish: Exert bearer and discard this condition to make bearer strength +2 and damage +1.

“...Old Took’s great grand-uncle Bullroarer...He charged the ranks of the goblins of Mount Gram in the Battle of the Green Fields, and knocked their king Golfimbul’s head clean off with a wooden club.”

Damage +1 for the Shire is uncommon indeed. Certainly worthy of a GP!

Spot Sting, Glamdring, or Orcrist and exert its bearer X times to wound X Orcs or X Uruk-hai.

“He took out his sword again, and again it flashed in the dark by itself. It burned with a rage that made it gleam if goblins were about; now it was bright as blue flame for delight in the killing of the great lord of the cave.”

’Tis a good card nonetheless, Dáin!

I like the combination it creates with previously named cards. I don’t think it’s too powerful; to me, it’s adequately costed.

It looks like, overall, people are happy with these, so I’ll add them to the Lasting Alliances Cardlist soon.

In the meantime, I’m off to start our next culture: the long-awaited Mirkwood!
Best regards, Dáin, Vice Aftokrator of the Chosen Ones

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!

Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North!
