I’m going to be updating a little early today (those who watch the great show known as 24 understand why Mr. Green). Today we end the short-lived Shire. Enjoy!

----

0Frodo, Mr. Underhill Shire
Companion • Hobbit
Strength: 3
Vitality: 4
Ringed-resistance: 10
Ring-bearer. Ring-bound.
Each time the fellowship moves to a dwelling site, you may add a burden to heal up to 2 Shire companions.

----

2Sam, Dropper of Eaves Shire
Companion • Hobbit
Strength: 3
Vitality: 4
Resistance: 10
Ring-bound. While Sam bears The One Ring, he is resistance -5.
At the start of each fellowship phase, you may exert Sam and add 1 to look at the top card of your draw deck. If it is a Shire card, remove a burden. Otherwise, add a burden.
Response: If Frodo is killed, make Sam the Ring-bearer.

----

2 •Sam’s Frying Pan Shire
Possession • Hand Weapon
Strength: +1
Bearer must be Sam.
Skirmish: Exert Sam and add a burden to exert a minion he is skirmishing (or wound that minion if it has a lower strength than Sam).
"’I think I’m getting that hang of this!’"

----

1 Merry Gathering Shire
Event • Skirmish
Make a Hobbit strength +2 (or strength +3 if you can spot an ale or pipeweed). Then, if the fellowship is at a dwelling site, you may discard an ale or pipeweed to return this event to your hand.
"’Gandalf, my old friend, this will be a night to remember.’"

Whoa...ever heard of a site called Valley of the Silverlode? This is too powerful. Up the cost or cut down the ability.

Resistance: 9

Laughing I love the title. This is a really cool card, I think!! Although it’s fairly risky...

With Westfarthing Businessman, you could be getting 9 heals with Frodo. I would say ’up to 2 Shire companions’.

Awesomeness. I would just increase the cost to 2.

Yeah, this is much better now. I still think he’s plenty powerful, and could become the centerpiece of a Hobbit deck. Just don’t forget the "s" after "companion".

Maybe, for a little extra incentive, give him 10 resistance and do -5 when he bears the Ring. It’s not much, but it’s something.

Nice. Gives just enough incentive to consider it before, say, Sting.

Because it’s based on Bilbo, MAYBE consider "if you can spot an ale or pipeweed", and maybe even do an ale or pipeweed for the second part of the ability, too. Entirely up to you. It’s cool either way. Smile

GP for a neat batch of cards.

Smile good title. make it exert sam, and then if it isn’t add 1. also maybe toss on a limit. otherwise he is way to bad without toning down the penalty, and way to good if you do but don’t add a limit.

Made some of the suggested edits. GP

Since we’ve concluded work on the Shire culture, it’s time to do a quick review. 10/13 of the new cards dealt with the concept of ales, an unloaded keyword that works in the same way that pipeweed does. One of the primary cards in this new strategy is Merry, Mischievous Halfling, who - while having a high resistance - gets a great strength bonus for the number of ales you can spot; he works great with Pippin, Troublesome Hobbit in the sense that not only does Pippin increase Merry’s strength bonus but he can also pull your ales and pipeweeds! Mr. Green

Tonight look for the beginning of the Dwarven culture. For those who have the appetite, I will tell you that this culture will deal with Dwarven tokens a lot...

I present the Shire in its entirety:

0Frodo, Mr. Underhill Shire
Companion • Hobbit
Strength: 3
Vitality: 4
Ringed-resistance: 10
Ring-bearer. Ring-bound.
Each time the fellowship moves to a dwelling site, you may add a burden to heal up to 2 Shire companions.

----

1Merry, Mischievous Halfling Shire
Companion • Hobbit
Strength: 3
Vitality: 4
Resistance: 9
While Merry has resistance 8 or more, he is strength +1 for each ale you can spot (or strength +2 if you can spot Pippin).

----

1 •Pippin, Troublesome Hobbit Shire
Companion • Hobbit
Strength: 3
Vitality: 4
Resistance: 8
At the start of each fellowship phase, you may exert Pippin and add a burden to play a pipeweed or ale from your draw deck.
"’I’m getting one!’"

"’Confound it all Samwise Gamgee!’"

----

2 Green Dragon Bartender Shire
Follower
Resistance: +1
Aid - Add a burden.
Each time you transfer this follower to a Hobbit with resistance 7 or more, choose one: spot a cup and exert bearer to play an ale from your draw deck; or spot an ale and add a burden to play a cup from your draw deck.

----

1 Bag End Vintage Shire
Possession • Support Area
Ale. To play, spot a Hobbit.
Skirmish: Discard an ale possession from play to make an unbound Hobbit strength +2 (or strength +3 if that Hobbit has resistance 9 or more).

----

1 Beer-barrel Shire
Possession • Support Area
Ale. To play, spot a Hobbit.
When you play this possession, you may heal a Hobbit with resistance 8 or more.
"He had been saying farewell to the beer-barrel in the cellar."

----

0 Green Dragon Mug Shire
Possession • Cup
Resistance: +1
Bearer must be a Hobbit.
While the fellowship is at a dwelling site, bearer is strength +1 (or strength +2 if bearer has resistance 8 or higher).

----

1 Hobbiton Keg Shire
Possession • Support Area
Ale. To play, spot an unbound Hobbit.
When you play this possession, if the fellowship is at a dwelling site, reinforce a Shire token.

----

1 Pint of Ale Shire
Possession • Cup
Resistance: +1
Bearer must be a Hobbit.
Fellowship: Add a burden, discard an ale, and spot X cups to draw X cards (limit 3).
"’This, my friend, is a pint!’"

----

1They Come in Pints? Shire
Condition • Support Area
To play, spot an unbound Hobbit.
While the fellowship is at a dwelling site, add 1 to the number of cups you can spot for each unbound Hobbit with resistance 7 or more.

----

1 Merry Gathering Shire
Event • Skirmish
Make a Hobbit strength +2 (or strength +3 if you can spot an ale or pipeweed). Then, if the fellowship is at a dwelling site, you may discard an ale or pipeweed to return this event to your hand.

On with the Dwarves!

As mentioned previously, the Dwarven of Ambush at Amon Hen will deal primarily with Dwarven tokens. The sub-strategies of being at an underground site (and sometimes mountain) still exist and are used frequently. However, I have also improved the sub-strategy of Dwarven tales, which you’ll see as the culture is further spoiled.

Today I want to spoil the comic relief everyone looks for first - Gimli, along with his battle axe and a Dwarven event!

----

2Gimli, Enraged Companion Dwarven
Companion • Dwarf
Strength: 6
Vitality: 3
Resistance: 7
Damage +1. Hunter 1.
Gimli gains an additional hunter 1 for each Dwarven condition with a Dwarven token on it.

----

2Gimli’s Battle Axe, Goblin Bane Dwarven
Possession • Hand Weapon
Strength: +2
Bearer must be Gimli.
While the fellowship is at a mountain or underground site, he is damage +1.
Each time Gimli wins a skirmish, you may reinforce a Dwarven token (or 2 Dwarven tokens if you can spot an Orc).

----

1 Comfort in Darkness Dwarven
Event • Skirmish
Make a Dwarf strength +2 (or strength +3 and damage +1 if the fellowship is at an underground site).

Owch! But a very nice card. Gimli’s a cool companion to have lower strength and insane Hunter.

Sweetness! I like the token-work! It’s like an automatic strength bonus for Gloin...almost like Captain! But with more uses, too.

2 Comfort in Darkness Dwarven
Event • Skirmish
Make a Dwarf strength +2 (or strength +3 and damage +1 if the fellowship is at an underground site).
Cool stuff. But it can be made 1, I think. Compare their Halls of stone, and Violent Hurl.

Good! I always thought they could use more tales.

Too powerful, I think. Lower his starting hunter to just 1. Otherwise I think he would completely overshadow Gimli, Eager Hunter, especially considering the next card....

It IS a good idea, though.

Since this specifically deals with goblins, it might be a nice tough to also throw in Moria minions. Not necessary, and probably not something you want to do, but it would be a nice nod. Smile

I like how this works with your version of Gimli. Awesome.
