Wow. From practically no reviews to bunches of them. Thanks, everyone. As promised, s to everyone who reviewed that one. It’s just going to take 45 minutes before I can get them all out.
Dáin’s DC Duos #78
A couple of skirmish events this time. The Wood-elves are nasty in the thick of battle, as many orcs and goblins found out. Enjoy!
Cold and Bitter Hatred
Condition • Support Area
Toil 1. To play, spot 2 Elf companions.
Skirmish: Discard this condition to make each Elf strength +1 until the regroup phase for each of the following that is true: he or she is bearing a hand weapon, he or she is assigned to skirmish an Orc or Uruk-hai, he or she is assigned to skirmish a fierce minion, he or she is assigned to skirmish a minion.
“The elves were the first to charge...a thousand of their spearmen leapt down and charged. The yells were deafening. The rocks were stained black with goblin blood.”
Kinda complicated, but the intent of the card is easy enough to figure out: pure beatdown!
Now, commence telling me what’s wrong and how I can improve it.
Magic Shut The Gates
Event • Skirmish
If the fellowhip is at a forest or dwelling, exert a Elf to cancel a skirmish involving an unbound companion. At any other site, exert 2 Elves to cancel a skirmish involving a companion.
“Then if Bilbo was very nimble, he could slip out just behind them; though it was a dangerous thing to do. More than once he was nearly caught in the doors....”
Obviously better at forests and dwellings, but not useless elsewhere, especially with companions.
Uh...yeah. That’s all I’ve got for now. |

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!
Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North! |

Make each Elf bearing a weapon strength +1 for each Orc and Uruk-hai in its skirmish (or +2 if that minion is fierce) until the regroup phase.

This is very nicely balanced, I might remove the Toil 1 though, because it would defeat the purpose almost if it is just for minions in their skirmish.

Perfect! Keep it up!

Bad. To specific. See Fearless. That’s a good model on how specific pumps should be constructed. I would never use this card. However, because I’m being harsh, you get a

The Voice of Nimrodel reloaded. Nice. Kinda powerful, but in specific decks, I would still use the Voice of Nimrodel. Great card. I love skirmish cancellation.

Similar to His Father’s Charge, Tireless, Standing Tall, etc., except that it works for multiple companions. |

Not to mention Endless Assault, Don’t Let Go, Driven from the Plains, Unimpeded, etc.
Nice. But then follow the format of the other conditions, , no spotting requirements, etc. Maybe make an exception and have a elf spotting, but only one. |

Then it would be WAY overpowered. Those others work for only one companion. This works for ALL Elves. |

Cool idea, but it needs a couple changes:

Now it works till the regroup phase, and since companions are technically only skirmishing during their own skirmish I changed it so that it works if they are assigned to skirmish the minions.

Yeah, I think so. Because it’ll mostly only give a +1 or 2 bonus, and sometimes it’ll give no bonuses. But against a deck with fierce Orcs, fierce Uruk-hai, or fierce minions, you could easily give everyone a +3 boost. |
