Technically I only had 3 votes, not 4... but since the top 2 advance it doesn’t really make a difference.
By the way, could we instead make it something like "Legolas, Fourth of the Nine Walkers"? That would look cooler (IMHO) than just "Of the Nine Walkers", and adding a "Fourth" would make them a lot like the 9 Nazgul from Shadows (e.g. Ulaire Cantea, Fourth of the Nine Riders).

Why would he be fourth, though? I’d say he should be Seventh, 4 hobbits, Gandalf, Aragorn, then Legolas.
I guess that’s pretty irrelevant, but I’ll mention it anyway, and it would be cool to number the nine walkers.

Well, the way I was thinking was the order in which they joined the fellowship:
Frodo (I will take the Ring to Mordor...)
Gandalf (I will help you bear this burden...)
Aragorn (You have my sword...)
Legolas (And you have my bow!)
Gimli (And MY axe!)
Boromir? (You carry the fate of us all...)
Sam (Mr. Frodo’s not going anywhere without me!)
Merry (We’re coming too!)
Pippin (Anyway, you need people of intelligence...)
Another way would be something like
Frodo
Sam
Merry
Pippin
Gandalf
Aragorn
Legolas
Gimli
Boromir

I was going by the Council of Elrond (movie-version), SoP, which I just watched and it definitely went Frodo/Gandalf/Aragorn/Legolas/Gimli/Boromir/Sam/Merry/Pippin. Although Merry and Pippin could be switched around since they joined at the same time.

Yeah, if you go by book order, it would probably be:
Frodo
Gandalf
Sam
Pippin
Merry
Aragorn
Legolas
Gimli
Boromir
Possibly, depending on how you look at it, Gandalf could be second, fifth (behind all the Hobbits), or sixth (behind Aragorn). He didn’t really "join" the company until the Council of Elrond, but his close role with getting Frodo started is why I have him up at second. |

I’m glad we’re having such a deep discussion about this!
I’d do them thematically, so the 4 hobbits first, followed by gandalf and aragorn who are essential to the whole thing, then legolas then gimli (legolas was at least mentioned to have joined the company first) then boromir because he was only sort of tagging along - which is AC’s second option.
Just shows to go you, or something.
I think we can safely leave this now and get on with our lives, if that’s alright with you lot!
