1. Theyre all ok.
2. Best card is the condition.
3. Threats arent "old school" sauron orcs.
4. Old school theme, all ok.
5. Sweet, definately good old school and balanced cards.
6. Good condition but OP imho. Too easy recursion.
7. Initiative is not old school sauron.
8. Threats arent old school but still a lot of focus on burdens which are. Generally good.
9. Pretty cool.
10. Condition is a bit too unusual. As a whole they are too OP together.
11. Threats arent old school thus not fulfilling Dains task requirements.
So i vote:

I think the Anduin Stalkers would be better saying ’When you play this minion and it is not roaming...’
Some nice classic tracker and directed exertion stuff happening there, but I’d seriously worry about the Anduin Captain as he might get OP rather fast, though I suppose it wouldn’t be so bad if no tracker (including him) had more than 2 vitality. Also, not sure what the drawing a card is doing there in A Shot in the Dark, but never mind.

In Morgul Aggressor, you could easily replace ’his or her’ with ’a’, but whatever.
I think Sauron’s Forces is a bit too scattered - it would be a lot better as a non-unique cost condition without the first ability. But I do like the discarding cards from the Free Peoples player’s hand, especially the Morgul Raider.

I disagree with lem0n in the way that, while threats obviously have nothing to do with classic strategies, if you can introduce them in a way which follows those strategies, I think it’s great. These Orcs, however, feel a bit too much like the trackers from Towers block rather than Fellowship, and so slightly missing the point of DI’s challenge. However, they are very interesting cards and I don’t have any complaints on balance issues.

“‘He must never find it....’”
Good classic strength reductions and good classic condition stuff on the Orc Assailant, but I really don’t like the Orc Defiler, mainly because of the notion of wounding a companion twice. Also, with the condition stuff, and in fact the title, I expected the Burden of Responsibility to be a condition to be played on a companion, which I think would also make it a much more interesting card as:
’At the start of each skirmish involving bearer and a minion, you may add a burden. The Free Peoples player may make the Ring-bearer wear The One Ring until the regroup phase (which is a key phrase I’ve just realised you’re missing) to prevent this.’

Really like the Orc Assailant, but am less impressed by the Orc Searcher, for though I love all forms of multi-culture hate, it seems to me that it’s a very King block ability.
Interesting use of the berserker mechanic on Crude Blade, but such a powerful cost weapon that can also be borne by Trolls and Uruk-hai (and Sauron for that matter) is far too cheap. Either it should be or should only add +1 strength and/or be borne only by Orcs.

Excellent use of conditions, and a nice and simple strategy, but it could be too powerful, especially as recursion is not one of ’s strengths, though if they should ever get it, it should be through their conditions as these cards propose. Also, such cheap minions make a swarm very effective, perhaps too much so.

Shame about the lack of lore, and it’s a good way to unite the decking and wounding strategies.
I also disagree with lem0n that initiative makes this not classic because, if I understand the card correctly, the initiative is only there as a balancing act so that you can’t just add burdens when the FP player can’t discard the cards. The condition might be a bit too good, however.

I think the threat on Mordor Patroller is unnecessary, especially given that Black Uruk of Mordor only does burdens.
I love Blade of Mordor, but feel that having Uruk-hai is again missing the thrust of DI’s challenge for classic strategies, and the Black Uruk would work perfectly if it were an Orc, as would the blade if it could just be borne by Orcs.

Presumably Morgul Warrior is inspired by that minion that cancels events that spot rangers? Good, but it normally takes Wizards and so on to get the same effect, so maybe it’s a little too good and too useful. Also, it’s not a skirmish action, it should be a response action.
Interesting Orc Hunter, but a bit too for me. Power of the Black Land is also interesting and thought provoking, but a bit too much like Southrons. All in all, the cards are a bit scattered, though the overall theme of twilight could be interesting with cards like Siegecraft.

I really like Mad With Desire, a nice innovative and new, yet somehow classic, condition. Good stuff to combine ’s corruption with the newer resistance mechanic, but the roaming thing might have been pushing the limits of an overall theme, maybe a bit too branched out and scattered to be properly effective. Nevertheless, I’ve always loved strategies that make your opponent put on the ring.

Red Eye Crusher is a perfect example of introducing new themes into classic strategies, and a great minion, if perhaps a tad too powerful. Tokens are interesting, but I’m not sure where the ambush comes in, nor why Sauron’s Cunning is so expensive for not so good effects. Also, I think making the Red Eye Ambusher reducing people’s strengths would be fitting more within the theme, but nice job overall.
So, my votes go to:
1) #10
2) #11
3) #5

Notice the OLD, old school orcs (like Fellowship Block) decrease roaming penalty, not site number.

I appreciate you’re still willing to vote, LeoKula. That’s high-class, my friend. Sorry things didn’t work out.

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!
Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North! |

Some nice classic tracker and directed exertion stuff happening there, but I’d seriously worry about the Anduin Captain as he might get OP rather fast, though I suppose it wouldn’t be so bad if no tracker (including him) had more than 2 vitality.
No tracker I know of does.
I think there are three:
Grishnakh
Orc Patrol
Orc Seeker

Orc Cutthroat, too. But at least all four are unique. |
