| Okay, say I’ve got Kingsfoil, and there’s a Hobbit with Lingering Shadow slapped on him. Kingsfoil says that by discarding it, I can heal the hobbit and remove Lingering Shadow. The question is: can I discard Lingering Shadow before healing, and thus avoid the burden? |

I think you heal first, and then if the companion is a companion, then you can discard the condition. |

| In the English language, text is read left-to-right, up-to-down. So you perform the actions in the order listed. First you heal the companion, then you discard the condition. |
