These all revolve around a similar mechanic, what I guess should be referred to as "pathing".
I figure it’s about time we got non-culture tokens, so I’m using something called Path tokens, which can’t be spotted for culture tokens.
•Pass of Cirith Ungol
Condition • Support Area
Path. When you play this, add 7 [Path] tokens here.
Shadow or Regroup: Exert Gollum to remove a [Path] token here.
When you cannot spot a [Path] token here, discard this to kill a companion (except the Ring-bearer).
Tarry
Event • Fellowship
Spot a Man and an exhausted companion of another culture to add a [Path] token to a path condition.
"’Give them a moment, for pity’s sake!’"
•Paths of Our Fathers
Condition • Support Area
Path.
Each time a companion with resistance 6 or more wins a skirmish, add a [Path] token here.
Each time a companion with resistance 6 or more loses a skirmish, remove a [Path] token here.
Fellowship: Remove X [Path] tokens here; play X possessions, each at twilight cost -X. Discard this condition.
Lost Any Clear Direction
Event • Maneuver
Exert a Nazgul to remove a [Path] token from a Free Peoples condition. Then, remove a [Path] token from a Shadow condition.
In case you didn’t spot it, Path tokens work a lot like twilight tokens. The Shadow player is looking to spend his Path tokens (subtracting), while the Free Peoples player is looking to collect them (adding).
If you all like this idea, I’ll write up some more cards.
