i was wondering, what shadow would be best to play against an ent/gandalf fellowship? (not the old-school ents, the new-fangled ones with leaflock and quickbeam, hastiest of all ents)
my trolls do a great job of hacking the ents to peices, but i was wondering what other shadows would work as well or better. Any advice? |

Hmm...the hard part is, they’re so toughed up! One choice would be to use that wonderful Bill Ferny, Agent of Saruman with Site Control and Chieftain of Dunland, so that you can duck right by all the ents and go straight for the RB. Don’t forget to make the FP player pay for breaking the Rule of 5, with Anduin Banks and City Gates!
Just beware conditions and Pallando. That’ll make Ninja Gollum a no-no here. |

try to use a deck that doesn’t rely a lot on conditions, cause ents will deystory your support area. Not swarms, not archery. maybe nazzies, cause they can take advantage of the HUGE twilight ents can give... i’m not that familiar with the new ent style, however. your trolls could probably take advantage of the twilight better than nazzies. but remember: even the ents can’t beat sauron! with a troll sworm, wouldn’t it be easy to toil out sauron for next to nothing? in region three, he’s toil 3. so if you have 5 trolls, he plays for ! |

That would be an old-school troll swarm, right? trolls?
The new ents typically burn a starting ent to grab some more. Some decks use Quickbeam, Hastiest of All Ents and then Shepherd of the Trees, comboed with Momentous Gathering to play ents in the Maneuver phase. As far as I know, they still flood the twilight pool, though. They always thrive by spotting each other for strength bonuses (Huorn). |

no, his [orc] troll swarms. sauron isn’t technically toil, he’s just: When you play Sauron, you may exert any number of minions. For each minion you exert, Sauron is twilight cost -X, where X is the current region number. which is a bit like toil. |

humm if you are in a 3 player game and they set up really fast in the fellowship phase normally you can play about everything you have and kill them. this works even better in a 4 player game |

your welcome, your welcome....
i always play him for like in my lurker swarms. the freeps player has to sit and twidle his thumbs while i use the twilight, exert companions, and add more twilight with demoralized. when the twilight is gone, he begins to reach over to assign some minions... then i stop him, grab up some exertions, and slap down sauron for free!!!

Also, don’t forget to pack Ulaire Cantea, Black Assassin! Nazgul would be a definite yes for beating ents. Whammo! Ents droppin’ like flies! |
