Since elf lvr requested it, here they are! The Fellowship of the Ring, in MTG version!!! I’ve picked, to start, versions from FotR block:
Frodo, Reluctant Adventurer 1
Legendary Creature - Hobbit
Equipments cost 1 less to equip on Frodo.
1/3
Pippin, Mr. Took
Legendary Creature - Hobbit
Aragorns and Gandalfs you play cost 2 less to play.
1/1
Merry, From O’er The Brandywine 1
Legendary Creature - Hobbit
Merry gets +1/+1 for every Aura attached to it.
1/2
Sam, Proper Poet 1
Legendary Creature - Hobbit
Sam may block an additional creature.
Sacrifice Sam: Prevent all damage that would be dealt to Frodo this turn.
2/2
Boromir, Son of Denethor 3
Legendary Creature - Human Warrior
All Hobbits you control get +2/+2.
3/3
Aragorn, Ranger of the North 3
Legendary Creature - Human Ranger
Aragorn may block any number of creatures.
4/4
Legolas, Greenleaf 1
Legendary Creature - Elf Archer
At the start of the declare blockers step, you may have Legolas deal 1 damage to target creature.
Sacrifice Legolas, Greenleaf: Deal damage equal to Legolas’ toughness, divided any way you choose, among any number of creatures.
1/2
Gimli, Dwarf of the Mountain-Race 2
Legendary Creature - Dwarf Warrior
The first creature spell played by an opponent each turn costs 2 more.
3/2
Gandalf, the Grey Pilgrim 3
Legendary Creature - Wizard
You may draw an additional card during your draw step.

Love ’em, Felipe!
Are these your brainchildren, or are they "as close as possible" ports from LOTR cards?
By the sound of their names, are more coming? That is, Gandalf the White, Gimli, Son Of Gloin, Aragon, King, etc... |

They are all cards from the first block of the card game, "changed into" Magic. Not always as close as possible (specially ’cause of cost), but with at least a hint to the original card.
You can search by name in Cobra Cards to check the originals.
And yes, more will be coming, I kinda liked this, and it’s an easy project to run along the TMNT (I’m still missing some for MTG version, and I’ve only just started the LotR versions), since it’s not too much trouble.
PS: Oh, and btw, Gimli, Son of Gloin IS a LotR card... Nice guess! |

LOVE EM!
great job, felipe.
but i would definately like to see a definately more MTG into it, and not just MTG versions of the same lotr effects.
make these cards good enough that you could put them into your own decks!
but still, great job. |

Ok, I’m already working on "MTG" versions for all nine companions and Arwen, ’cause I liked her a lot! I used her in my first deck (a FotR block deck), and I’ve never lost with it, except to my own Uruk shadow, played by my friend who shared cards with me. |

Here they are, the nine companions, at last!
Frodo, Bearing the Fate of the World
Legendary Creature • Hobbit
As long as Frodo is equipped with The One Ring, you can’t lose the game and your opponent can’t win the game.
0/1
The One Ring, the Ruling Ring 0
Legendary Artifact • Equipment
The One Ring can only equip a Legendary Creature.
Equipped creature gets +1/+0 and has: "Pay one life: Prevent the next one point of damage that would be dealt to this creature".
Equip 2 (or 0, if you want to equip Frodo)
Gimli, Warrior from Beneath the Mountains 3
Legendary Creature • Dwarf Warrior
Haste, double-strike, trample
3/4
Legolas, Archer from Mirkwood X1[G]
Legendary Creature • Elf Archer
Legolas comes into play with X arrow counters on it.
Remove an arrow counter from Legolas: Legolas deals 1 damage to target creature.
2/2
Sam, Protector of Frodo 1
Legendary Creature • Hobbit
Sacrifice Frodo: Sam gets +X/+Y and gains trample until the end of the turn, where X is Frodo’s power and Y is its toughness. You gain 5 life.
2/2
Merry, Swordsman of the Horse-Land 1
Legendary Creature • Hobbit
Merry cannot be the target of spells or abilities.
Prevent all damage that would be dealt to Merry.
If Merry is put in a graveyard from play, return it to play under its owner control.
: Target creature gets +2/+1 until the end of the turn.
2/1
Pippin, Just on Time
Legendary Creature • Hobbit
You may play Pippin any time you could play an instant. If you do, prevent the next 4 damage that would be dealt to target creature or player.
1/1
Boromir, Sent to Scout 3
Legendary Creature • Human Warrior
First-strike
Each time Boromir deals combat damage to a Creature, you may have him deal the same amount of damage to other target creature.
Each time Boromir deals combat damage to a player, you may search your library for a Legendary Artifact, reveal it, and put it into your hand.
3/4
Aragorn, Wanderer Ranger 3
Legendary Creature • Human Ranger
Vigilance, first-strike
: Prevent the next 4 damage that would be dealt by a source of your choice. If that source is a permanent, it doesn’t untap during its controller next untap phase.
4/5
Gandalf, Powerful Wizard 4
Legendary Creature • Wizard
When Gandalf comes into play, you may take an extra turn after this one.
Gandalf cannot be returned to its owner hand.
At the start of each of your upkeeps, you may draw a card.
: Draw three cards.
3/5
And, as I promised, here she is:
Arwen, Elf Lady 2
Legendary Creature • Elf Ranger
While you control Aragorn, Arwen gets +3/+3.
Arwen is unblockable.
4/1

That Gimli is a tad overpowered IMHO. A 4/4 haste, trample double striker for only 5 mana?
Edit: That Arwen seems to be a bit overpowered as well. |

Hey, The First, since this thread kinda "belongs" to my Card Shop (meaning it’s linked there), I’d appreciate if you followed my rules. If you have a nice idea about the topic, PM it to me, rather than posting it here directly. This way, I can edit it to correct some small nitpicks, as well as keeping all cards in the same style of posting. Of course, you WILL be given full credit for the card, but still, it just helps. Hope I didn’t offend you, I kinda liked your cards, so feel free to PM some to me if you feel like, I’d like that. Also, thanks for the review! Arwen is not that overpowered, you see, since you’d have to have a multi-colored deck AND play Aragorn to make her big enough, and she can just be removed/burned. Gimli may be a tad overpowered, but does not have that much creatures, so he can be dealt with by two or more blockers like Carven Caryatid. But I may drop his attack, though...
Could a mod please delete the cads above, submited by The First? |
