I just have a little question about the wording in the rulebook...
Say he has: Ulaire Cantea, Thrall of the One with 2 wounds
And I have: Eowyn, Lady of Ithilien with no wounds
The assignment is between them as so.
Eowyn uses the first skirmish action by exerting to wound my Wraith twice.
This should kill Cantea, but does he emmediately place the wounds and place the Wraith in the dead pile? That’s what we’ve been doing for years.
Then rulebook says:
Skirmish Phase Summary
•Free peoples player chooses a skirmish.
•Players perform skirmish actions.
•Resolve that skirmish and assign wounds.
•If any skirmishes are unresolved, repeat this procedure.
page 6 Comprehensive Rulebook 4.0
Also says this:
When a character’s vitality is reduced to zero, that character is emmediately killed.
page 2 Comprehensive Rulebook 4.0
But when exactly do these wounds get placed? After all skirmish actions have been played? or emmediately after an action wounds the character? |

You must perform the effects of skirmish actions before another one can be started unless interrupted by a response. So in this case since the Free people’s player gets the first skirmish action, Eowyn exerts and the shadow player must place two wounds on his minions in any way he wants (they don’t have to be on Cantea if there are other minions out there). If Cantea takes enough wounds to deplete his vitality, he is killed and is placed in the discard pile. Since one side was eliminated, the skirmish ends, a winner is declared, and no wounds are placed on the losing side since there are no characters in the skirmish left to take wounds. |

Page 6 of the rulebook is referring to the win/lose scenario with the assigning of wounds. But if an action kills your wraith then yes he is immediately placed in the dead pile. I hope I could help some. |

It should read something like this:
Skirmish Phase Summary
•Free peoples player chooses a skirmish.
•Players perform skirmish actions.
•Resolve that skirmish and assign wounds, if the characters involved are still alive.
•If any skirmishes are unresolved, repeat this procedure.
If this was MTG, THEN yes, things WOULD happen the way it "seems" they would, he’d only be dead upon resolution of the skirmish, and you WOULD be able to heal him to burden away. However, note that VERY few Events/Special Abilities are Response abilities, much more common in MTG, so only by means of a Response: Prevent a wound/heal it would your Nazgul live. You’re playing correctly. |
