Splashing Gandalf as burden removal just got even more effective, using this version to pull either Glamdring, Foe-hammer or the new Shadowfax, Greatest of the Mearas. Pulling the possession also partially makes up for his low strength. And if you’ve got token-based cards in your deck, that’s just gravy! Very Happy

Well he’s obviously the best Gandalf ever printed.

When I came to Abraham I let him live just a moment longer. When I came to Moses I saved his life more than once. But the salmon... I regret to say I had a hand in its death.

Indeed, menace. Probably the best one. His token reinforcing is very very cool.

One of the most splashable gandalfs yet... throw him in any kind of token deck, and he’ll do fine... plus, his ability to throw a possession on himself makes him a decent splash in decks that don’t even use tokens at all... I need 4 to, say, 1,000,000 copies of this guy.

Spammers really are amazing creatures. You can learn all there is to know about their ways in a month. And yet, after a hundred years, they can still surprise you. Razz

Very good with Aragorn, Defender of Free Peoples and other token decks.

Its ability to play a possession from your draw deck or discard pile makes it very nice, especially if you play Shadowfax, Roaring Wind, making an even sweeter 4th ability to a Aragorn/Gandalf token deck.

He could be interesting in a Pipe deck... play the Pipe with is first ability, and add tokens to some of the multi-cultural token conditions from SoG (Not the First Halfling, Shake Off the Shadow, etc).

In a Gandalf Men deck, you can use A Wizard is Never Late to make an AMAZING cycle, not only fetching you a much-needed gandalf to complement the starting Fellowship, but ALSO fetching the Foe-Hammer, slimming down your deck in 3 cards at once! If you can pull tricks with that new site that breaks the rule of 9, you can even play him, get a generic possession, transfer it, burn him with Saved From the Fire for fetching 2 more cards from the culture (making your fellowship quite stronger), and fetch a second copy of A Wizard is Never Late. Then, the following turn, after you pulled off site tricks to remove him from your dead pilke, play it again, start the cycle again. Or, if you’re done setting up, just play him with a Foe-Hammer or Shadowfax (whichever is not in your hand already). Ok, it’s hard to pull off, yes, but it’s doable. And specially for a deck that needs serious setting up, or something, that’s, like, 8 cards cycled out of your deck...
I don't like YOU.

And it sure beats having to pull Gandalf and Sent Back with your SFTF...
