If my interpretation of A New Light’s text is correct, it’s one of the best cards revealed so far. Either switch out an opponent’s good minion in hand with a bad one in his discard pile; or, take a minion into hand from your own discard pile. Two potentially very powerful options on a single card (a spell, no less), with a low twilight cost and the possibility of splashing it into any deck that runs Gandalf or Radagast? Definitely a five in my book... possibly even X-list material as well! |

You wouldn’t be able to bounce your own minion to your hand, because none of your minions are active during your fellowship phase. |
Riddle 9
When I came to Abraham I let him live just a moment longer. When I came to Moses I saved his life more than once. But the salmon... I regret to say I had a hand in its death.

And it also says to "reveal that Shadow player’s hand." You’re not a Shadow player when you use A New Light. |

menace64 -- Right, but I don’t think that’s relevant. It doesn’t need to be an active minion, it’s just a card in the discard pile. (Similarly, you can use minions in your hand for things like Grimbeorn, Beorning Chieftain’s strength bonus even though your minions aren’t active when you’re the FP player.)
bibfortuna25 -- The "Shadow player" requirement in the second sentence prevents you from fulfilling that sentence, but you still have instructions from the first sentence. In such cases, don’t you do as much as you can and ignore the rest? |

Yeah, if Cobra is correct, then this is one of those cards that I need at least 4 copies of. If it turns out you can only use it to return a Shadow player’s minion, then I’d still use it in one of my decks. |

it almost seems like you could only use it on shadow cards though, someone will have ot ask about that on D(not that it will get answered, though brad has been doing a good job lately) |

don’t you have to fulfill all the requirements of the card in order for it to be used?
Anyway, I can’t wait to swap out the Balrog for a Goblin Runner .
Good card, very powerful, especially if your opponent is running a hybrid tank/swarm like old uruk site control. |
