So, let’s say I have Hidden even from her out, and I play A Dark Shape Sprang. What happens with the fierce skirmish?

There is no. There never was. Dark shape sprung begins a skirmish phase between Gollum and a companion, that’s all. Fierce skirmish phases begin after normal skirmish phases are over. This is just a nested skirmish phse, not a normal one.

Are you sure? A Dark Shape Sprang says "Begin a skirmish phase involving Gollum and that companion. When it ends, resume the suspended phase." To me, that sound like you’re basically creating a second skirmish phase that involves only Gollum and that companion you chose. If Gollum happens to be fierce, then I would think the normal skirmish phase rules would apply. The FP player would have only one character to work with (the companion Gollum’s owner chose) and the Shadow player would have only one minion to work with (Gollum), but that doesn’t mean that normal skirmish rules are thrown out the window. I think the FP player can choose not to assign their only available companion to Gollum, but then the Shadow player can go and assign Gollum to that companion (and ONLY that companion) anyway for the initial skirmish...and then AGAIN for the fierce skirmish.

Basically, you’re taking Gollum and one companion and putting them into their own little world for one full skirmish phase. The text is very clear: this IS a skirmish phase, not just a single skirmish. Understand the difference? I would think you’d be able to play skirmish events and fierce WOULD apply. Why wouldn’t it?

No, fierce does not apply in this case. A Dark Shape Sprang tells you to resume the suspended phase when the skirmish ends, so there is no room for a fierce skirmish in there.

Gollum will only ever fight once per copy of A Dark Shape Sprang.
All cards do what they say.

I know you’re an expert, and I’m probably wrong about this. But it does not say to resume the suspeneded phase when the skirmish ends, but what it actually says is to resume the suspended phase when the skirmish phase you have created ends. Since the card specifically says to "begin a skirmish phase involving Gollum and that companion", and then resume the suspended phase when "it" (the skirmish phase) ends, I think there’s room for a fierce Gollum to have a normal skirmish and then a fierce skirmish before this new phase ends and the suspended phase resumes.

Please understand that there is NO DIFFERENCE between a skirmish and a skirmish phase. Each skirmish is a skrmish phase and vice versa.

this IS a skirmish phase, not just a single skirmish. Understand the difference?

Yes, i do. There is none. Do YOU understand?

Does a skirmish phase include all skirmishes, or are there multiple skirmish phases each turn? (Except for a single, non fierce minion)

Each skirmish IS A SKIRMISH PHASE. The end. Each skirmish phase consists of just one skirmish. Fierce and normal is not a discretion between 2 skirmish phases. It is one between multiple ones. Please check page 16 of the C.Rulebook.

Ah, ok. That makes sense now thanks.

So, I guess between the skirmish and fierce skirmishes, there’s an ssignment phase as well, huh?

Oh, BTW, Gollum stays in play, right? You know, hangs around like any normal minion till the next skirmish (assuming he’s played in the fellowship phase.) Cause that would be sweet with my deck, a double fierce Gollum, practically, and with the pumps I’m giving him...
