Lame title, but have you tried alliterating with the letter N?

Anyway, I’m going to set up a card design thing where the first person to give me a title I’ll design a card for. Who knows, it might just be crazy enough to go into a crazy set!

Anyway, for the first card, I’m going to flip open the Lord of the Rings book, put my finger on a word or phrase and design a card based on that...

*flips open LotR to page 221*

*puts finger down randomly on the text that composes the lore*

Card title

2 •Arwen, Likeness of Luthien Elven
Companion • Elf
Strength: 6
Vitality: 3
Resistance: 8
While you can spot Elrond, Arwen is strength +2.
While you can spot Elladan, Arwen is strength +1.
While you can spot Elrohir, Arwen is strength +1.
Frodo saw her whom few mortals had yet seen; Arwen, daughter of Elrond, in whom it was said that the likeness of Luthien had come to earth again.

Well...obviously this card fits right into the Elvent telepathy deck with Elrond, Elladan and Elrohir. Since you almost always start Elladan/Elrohir, that’s a base strength 8 as soon as she hits the table, and then there’s Elrond’s strength pump which makes her a base strength 10, a better choice than Gil-Galad.

However, if you simply run Elrond she’s worth playing, because a base strength 8 is a good Arwen, the other Arwen’s get strength pumps on conditions, such as Arwen, Fair Elf Maiden.

And then, there’s a high resistance, which is always good for elves.

All right, first person to give me a card title gets a card!

And the first person who can give a good N alliteration gets several gp.

Part two, okay...let me see if I can find what the phrase refers to...

EDIT: Referring to Gandalf fighting the Balrog, correct? I’m on it...GP

Correct. More specifically, Galadriel’s words: "He has fallen into shadow."

4 •Fallen into Shadow Moria
Condition • Support Area
To play, exert The Balrog.
Each time the fellowship moves, the free peoples player must wound a companion for each card in the dead pile.
"Alas!" said Aragorn, "Gandalf the Grey fell into shadow. He remained in Moria and did not escape"

There you go CG. Sorry it took so long, I had to find the lore.

Here we see a specific card for a specific deck-type. The Balrog deck. Although dealing with a Balrog every site may be feasible for some decks, certainly someone gets killed. And when they do, the Free Peoples has to start wounding. Against decks that fall to the Balrog’s possible damage +3 and Final Cry with low wound prevention, several dead companions could be quite common. And once they do, the Free Peoples bitterly mourns their loss...every turn...Twisted Evil

I like MoS’s idea, but you each get a gp as soon as I can muster some up.

Let’s wait till I get a few reviews, then I’ll open it up for another idea.

Hmm...that’s incredibly powerful. Then again, Moria ain’t really known for killing off companions except for the RB.

I like. Sorry MoS. You still get a gp, but it will probably be tomorrow. I need to get off soon.

I edited it somewhat so it would fit in the title...

And CG, its pretty good for a Balrog deck...which prompts me to think of some changes....

EDIT: Changes made. Higher twilight, have to exert the Balrog. But hey, with a whip and four Goblin Armory, it covers the cost...
