--- end description ---
I’m still working on adventure decks, so I’m not posting those.
Men
Free Peoples
Frodo, Resolute Hobbit
The One Ring, Answer to All Riddles
Brand, King of Dale
Barliman Butterbur, Red-Faced Landlord
Gandalf, Leader of the Company
Erland, Dale Counselor x 2
Ghan-Buri-Ghan, Chieftain of the Woses x 2
Grimbeorn, Beorning Chieftain
Meneldor, Misty Mountain Eagle x 2
Radagast, Tender of Beasts
Alatar, Final Envoy x 2
Pallando, Far-Travelling One
Hobbit Sword
Strange Meeting x 4
Traveler’s Homestead x 2
For a While Less Dark x 4
Guidance of the Istari x 4
The Flame of Anor x 2
A Wizard is Never Late x 3
Shadow
Merciless Dunlending x 2
The Mouth of Sauron, Messenger of Mordor
Pirate Cutthroat x 3
Column of Easterlings x 2
Saruman, Coldly Still x 3
Rampaging Easterling x 4
Crooked Townsman x 4
Easterling Dispatcher x 2
Worn Battleaxe x 4
Pavise x 4
Countless Companies x 2
Stragglers x 2
The strategy with Men is to tank like crazy with Strange Meeting, Barliman Butterbur and some followers. Traveller’s Homestead/Alatar and Pallando take care of conditions, so you shouldn’t have problems with that. Erland brings back your pumps so you can beef up really big. A Wizard is Never Late was because I couldn’t decide between another Erland or Gandalf, so I thought I’d have the capability to pull whichever I needed.
For the shadow, swarm. And the more lurkers, the better. Rampaging Easterling and Column of Easterlings are the only lurkers in the deck, and Column of Easterlings can be discarded for use with Last Days to play another tough minion. Pirate Cutthroats reinforce Stragglers, especially with a Pavise, and then with naturally high strength minions winning, use Stragglers with Rampaging Easterling to overwhelm a companion. If you swarm, many people will assign the Rampaging Easterling to the RB, only to find out they made a BIG mistake. Also, if they pull a PATHS early in the game on a rampager, you can always pack a pavise.

Ithilien Blade / Infinite Loop
Free Peoples
Boromir, Bearer of Council
The One Ring, The Ring of Rings
Faramir, Captain of Gondor
Aragorn, Strider
Denethor, Lord of Minas Tirith
Madril, Defender of Osgiliath
Seeing Stone of Orthanc x 2
Scroll of Isildur
Ring of Barahir
Ithilien Blade x 4
Aragorn’s Bow, Ranger’s Longbow
Faramir’s Bow
Athelas
Citadel of Minas Tirith x 3
Houses of Healing x 2
Gondor Bowmen x 2
Pathfinder
What Are They x 4
Guarded City x 2
Arrows Thick in the Air x 3
Shadow
Strange Looking Men x 4
Sunland Guard x 4
Easterling Dispatcher x 4
Vengeful Primitive x 4
Stampeding Savage x 4
Wildman’s Oath x 4
Pavise x 4
Primitive Brand x 2
Countless Companies x 2
The Ithilien Blade is a typical Ithilien Blade. Add threats with Aragorn’s Bow, Ranger’s Longbow, Seeing Stone of Orthanc and City Gates. Grab a blade at site three with three with Denethor, along with a Houses of Healing, Aragorn’s Bow, Ragner’s Longbow and a Pathfinder. Play Caras Galadhon as site 4 with Pathfinder because that’s where you’re most likely to get swarmed. Gondor Bowmen, Aragorn’s Bow, Arrows Thick in the Air and Faramir’s Bow can give off some pretty nice archery and stop swarms, while Ithilien Blade and What Are They take care of beatdown.
With evil men, stack like crazy anyhow, then when you get a Sunland Guard, SLM, and two pavise, pull the loop. Grab another Sunland Guard off a possession, and two Easterling Dispatchers, using SLM to toss the pavise to the other Guard, suicide the first, which stacks him, pull him back, and pull off more Dispatchers, then a Vengeful Primitive to discard them all and stack. Suicide SLM to transfer the pavise to a guard then play him back with the guard. Continue until you generate an infinite twilight pool, then grab every minion stacked on your possessions. Use Stampeding Savage to play every minion from your discard pile, repeating the twilight adding loop, and by the time the dust clears, you’ve played every minion off your possessions and in your discard pile. Watch your opponent die.

Rohan, tank. Wargs-beatdown. That’s it. Lame deck, trying to make it decent. Threw it together with a bunch of random cards. Once I get Eowyn, Lady of Ithilien, 4x Sword Rack, and 4x Riddermark Javelin, I’ll make it better. |

Ring of Retribution
Strands of Elven Hair x 2

Bill Ferny, Swarthy Sneering Fellow
Orc Scimitar x 2
Grond, Hammer of the Underworld
Verily I Come
Desperate Defense of the Ring x 2
Thin and Stretched
Tower of Barad-Dur x 4
Some Secret Art of Flame x 2
The Irresistible Shadow x 2
Desperate Measures x 4
The Ring is Mine x 4
Dwarves, win and discard with Nobody Tosses a Dwarf and Dwarven Axe. Bring back Nobody Tosses a Dwarf with the Ring of Guile.
Orcs, discard with Tower of Barad-Dur, Desperate Defense of the Ring, Tower Lieutenant and Desperate Measures. Tower of Barad-dur and Some Secret Art of Flame should give you initiative so you can use Gorgoroth Stormer to add burdens. Then, Desperate Measures really hurts. Usually decking your opponent out at site 5 or 6, Desperate Defense of the Ring starts to add burdens, compounded with The Ring is Mine, until finally, the Irresistible Shadow. This deck has only lost twice, both against runs. |

The One Ring, The Ring of Rings
Elrohir, Son of Elrond
Elladan, Son of Elrond
Gil-Galad, Elven High King x 2
Elrond, Witness to History x 2
Legolas, Son of Thranduil x 2
Rumil, Elven Protector
Orophin, Lorien Bowman
Aiglos
Vilya, Ring of Air
Asfaloth
Sword of the Fallen x 4
Elven Bow x 4
Attunement x 4
Still Needed x 4
Uncertain Paths x 4
Shadow
Ulaire Attea, Wraith on Wings x 4
Ulaire Enquea, Lieutenant of Morgul x 2
Ulaire Toldea, Winged Sentry x 3
Ulaire Nertea, Black-Mantled Wraith x 4
Ulaire Lemenya, Lieutenant of Morgul x 2
The Witch-King, Black Captain
Bill Ferny, Swarthy Sneering Fellow
Ring of Rancor x 4
Nazgul Sword x 2
Shadowy Mount
Gates of the Dead City x 4
More Unbearable x 2
Wreathed in Shadow
Black Breath x 2
Elvents, Still Needed stacks itself on top of your deck as well as the stacking ability of Elrond, Witness to History. Then, Attunement to pump your guys to insane strengths. All the cards go to the bottom of your deck, cycling and filtering for your Nazgul to set up. Then get all you pumps back in your deck with Uncertain Paths. Repeat.
Set up the Nazgul with 4x Gates of the Dead City and More Unbearable. Get tokens on More unbearable until you have initiative. Then run Ulaire Attea, Wraith on Wings to add tons of burdens, Gates of the Dead City to exhaust the fellowship and Ulaire Enquea, Lieutenant of Morgul comes out and kills off 3 companions, maybe more with the Ring of Rancor and enough burdens. I’m ashamed to admit that this deck has never corrupted the ring-bearer (closest it got was 10 burdens on Frodo, Resolute Hobbit), it usually kills with a bunch of fierce Nazgul with Ulaire Enquea, Lieutenant of Morgul blasting away.

Pippin, In the Bloom of Health
Quickbeam, Bregalad
Skinbark, Fladrif
Host of Fangorn
Ent Horde
Woodland Onod x 4
Huorn x 3
Host of Fangorn

Ent Moot x 3
Ent Draught

Inspiration x 4
A Wizard is Never Late
Shadow
Desert Spearman x 4
Desert Warrior x 2
Desert Soldier x 2
Southron Archer Legion
Southron Invaders
Southron Runner x 3
Southron Marcher
Mumak x 4
Raider Halberd
Raider Bow x 4
Howl of Harad
Whirling Strike x 4
Red Wrath (Trying to get four, currently one)
On the March x 4
With the ents, discard the Hobbits ASAP, pull Gandalf, Leader of the Company and Woodland Onod and use your companions to beat everything up hard. Double almost every time.
With the Southrons, generate tons of ambush and use it with your wounding abilities and events, then pump your guys for another wound. Mumaks make them fierce to win another skirmish, and you can even throw out some archery. Howl of Harad to take care of ring-bound companions, and its also pretty good after archery to make the ring-bearer die.

Three Hunters/ Swarm
Free Peoples
Frodo, Weary from the Journey
The One Ring, Answer to All Riddles
Legolas, Fleet-Footed Hunter
Gimli, Eager Hunter
Aragorn, Swift Hunter x 2
Dunedain of the South x 2
Ranger’s Sword, Blade of Aragorn x 2
Gondorian Sword x 2
Long-Knives of Legolas
Gimli’s Battle Axe, Trusted Weapon
Hand Axe
Hobbit Sword
Coat of Mail
Dwarven Armor
Forth the Three Hunters x 4
Focus x 4
No Quicker Path x 4
My Axe is Notched x 2
Final Count x 2
Endurance of Dwarves
Sentinels of Numenor x 2
Shadow
Goblin Sneak x 4
Goblin Runner x 4
Goblin Scrabbler x 4
Goblin Backstabber x 2
Goblin Scavenger x 4
Goblin Bowman x 3
Moria Scout x 3
Ulaire Nertea, Messenger of Dol Guldur
Relics of Moria
Goblin Swarms
Goblin Armory
Goblin Scimitar x 3
Hosts of Thousands x 3
Abuse Forth the Three Hunters to win Legolas’ skirmish, and the heal Aragorn back with Focus. Add tokens to final count and my axe is notched to toughen up Legolas and Gimli, and you have tons of pumps. If Aragorn fights, resolve his skirmish first and use No Quicker Path to beef up Legolas and Gimli. The Dunedain can beat up some weaker minions to beef up Aragorn.
With Moria, swarm. Swarm like crazy. Pull the Goblin Scimitars from your discard pile to draw cards, swarm, win a couple skirmishes, stack on Goblin Swarms, and repeat procedure. I have thrown out 16 minions with this deck easily. Generate twilight with Goblin Scimitars/Goblin Armory and Goblin Runners and then play tons of minions. I’m planning on getting another Goblin Scimitar, Host of Thousands and two more Goblin Backstabbers.
Any thoughts? |

Looks pretty good to me. But why no Gwaihir, The Windlord? |
Best regards, Dáin, Vice Aftokrator of the Chosen Ones
Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!
Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North! |
